Phone Comparisons: LG G Flex 2 vs Xiaomi Mi4 FDD-LTE
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

Do we have a good one for you today – the new LG G Flex 2 goes up against the newest revamp of the Xiaomi Mi4…the FDD-LTE model.  Both smartphones offer up a solid build quality and feel great in your hand.  The Xiaomi Mi4 uses a full metal frame and trim with a plastic back, while the LG G Flex 2 has a curved body, battery and display with an improved self-healing back.  The young Xiaomi has already overtaken Samsung as the number one brand of smartphones in China, so they will soon be a force to be reckoned with in the US when they start marketing a smartphone with all US 4G LTE channels.

These two devices do not have very much in common – they both come with 16GB of internal storage, but only the G Flex 2 has room for expansion, although Xiaomi does promise a 64GB version is coming soon.  Both main cameras use a 13MP sensor and a dual LED flash, but then they part their ways.  The batteries are almost identical in size and they both have the usual suspects of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a microUSB port for charging and data transfer, an FM Radio and IR Blaster – both LG and Xiaomi also make HDTVs.

Have we got a good one for you today – the newest Xiaomi Mi Note Pro goes up against the newest LG G Flex 2.  These are the newest and most powerful devices from these two manufacturers – in fact, neither device has been released into the wild yet, we only saw the LG G Flex 2 at CES and the new Xiaomi Mi Note Pro at their own private event in Beijing.

These two devices have a very similar sized display and are very similar in overall size, although very different in design – the Mi Note Pro is an all glass and metal trim design and the G Flex 2 has both a curved display, battery and body.  One place they are on the same page is they both use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 64-bit 810 octa-core processor with one quad-core clocked at 2.0GHz and the other quad-core clocked at 1.5GHz.

The main cameras are also similar – 13MP sensors, dual-tone LED flash, OIS and autofocus, although the LG G Flex 2 employs their faster, Laser autofocus.  The batteries are almost identical size as well – 3090mAh on the Mi Note Pro and 3000mAh on the G Flex 2.  Both devices have the usual Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, a microUSB port, enhanced sound components and Quick Charge 2.0.

Possible LG G4 specs uncovered by LG H810 listing
News from Phones Review:

The LG G4 is certainly going to make an appearance sometime this year; whether it will happen at the upcoming Barcelona Mobile World Congress at the beginning of March, or later in the year (possibly in May, like its LG G3 predecessor) is yet unknown, but rumors and leaks are already trying to anticipate some of the internals the South Korean phone maker will utilise for the 2015 flagship. This particular report, as well as the one we’re looking at today, seems to predict that most of the core specifications and components of the recently announced LG G Flex 2 will make it to the LG G4. We’ve already heard reports talking about a Quad HD screen (like on the LG G3, but with a slightly smaller screen size, in the neighbourhood of 5.3 inches), and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor (like on the G Flex 2), alongside a spec bump for the camera, moving up from the 13MP system on the G3 to a possible 16MP unit.

However, today’s report is based on a UAProf (User Agent Profile) file hosted on LG’s servers. While the LG G3 had model numbers formatted as LG G3 D85x, the phone we’re looking at here is a certain H810, so, while it might be the LG G4 (judging by the specs), it…………… continues on Phones Review

While the U.S. is buzzing about the Google Nexus 4 smartphone made by LG, China is waiting for another high-end smartphone: the Xiaomi Phone 2.

Also known as the Mi-Two, Xiaomi Phone 2 is one of the hottest devices expected to hit the market. The smartphone is slated to launch in China on Oct.30, and its specs promise to make the wait worthwhile.

The Xiaomi Phone 2 sports a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels at 341 pixels per inch (ppi), packs 2GB of RAM and a powerful 2,000mAh battery. The smartphone also features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of 1080p video recording, and will come with the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

What makes this smartphone special, however, is the fact that it packs a quad-core Snapdragon S4 chip under the hood, as well as the latest Adreno 320 graphics. The system-on-chip (SoC) is Qualcomm’s APQ064.

The Xiaomi Phone 2 was announced back in July, which makes it the first device to boast the quad-core Snapdragon S4 chipset, although the LG Optimus G beat it to the market. In addition, the company makes it a priority to sell its devices for reasonable prices, and the Xiaomi Phone 2 will be the cheapest device t…………… continues on iTechPost

LG released source for Optimus 2X ICS
News from TG Daily:

LG has officially released the source to the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Optimus 2X phone.

The company previously rolled out the update to phone users in Korea, but then abruptly halted plans to do the same in the US. Now, it has released the source file to the update so modders can install it on their device if they want.

It remains unclear if or when LG will officially roll out the updated firmware to subscribers. In the US, the phone runs exclusively on T-Mobile.

Ice Cream Sandwich is one of the biggest updates to Android yet, and includes such features as scanning your face to unlock the phone, a much more robust speech-to-text software program, and an entire platform of data sharing that focuses on Near Field Communication (NFC).

Several other manufacturers have pledged support for the new update, and a bunch of phones currently running an older version of Android.

Ice Cream Sandwich is now powering a decent amount of active Android devices, despite having a slow initial rollout in the early part of the year.

Google saw Android 4.0 as a big reset button on the mobile platform, since it has much stricter hardware guidelines that it hopes will help prevent fragmentation in the future.

Of course, the release of Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, sort of quashes those hopes. Around 2% of all Android devices are already runn…………… continues on TG Daily
