LG Spectrum 2 (Verizon Wireless)

LG Spectrum 2 (Verizon Wireless)
News from PC Magazine:

By Alex Colon

The original LG Spectrum was a high-end smartphone with a high-end price tag. Fast forward less than a year later, and we have the LG Spectrum 2. It’s designed to compete with the rest of the heavy hitters in Verizon’s lineup, and in most regards, it succeeds. But LG made one key difference this time around: Price. The LG Spectrum 2 is a high-end phone, but at $ 99.99, it costs half the price as other top choices in Verizon’s lineup. That makes it a seriously good buy.

LG Nexus 4 User Guide Posted, Confirms 8GB and 16GB Models Plus Wireless …
News from Droid Life:

On Friday night, LG posted up quick start guides for the Nexus 4 (LG-E960), confirming that it will come in both 8GB and 16GB models. Along with storage confirmation, there is a mention of wireless charging, which will be built in, rather than an add-on through an accessory (Yay!). We also get full tours of the device, like the location of the notification light (same as the Galaxy Nexus), all switches, the 8MP camera, microphones, etc.

Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Sandy, this phone will no longer be unveiled officially tomorrow in NYC. Google has yet to announce a new date for another event, but if they plan on doing it in NYC still, it could be a few days (or a week) as the hurricane will likely stick around for a while.

News from Bloomberg:

KT Corp. (030200), South Korea’s second- largest mobile phone operator, sold 443 billion won ($ 376 million) of bonds backed by phone bills this month as smartphone demand bolsters sales.

The sale follows the carrier’s first-ever offering of asset-backed securities, or ABS, worth 510 billion won in April, Chi Seung Hoon, a director for financing at KT, said in a phone interview on May 25. The Seongnam, South Korea-based company may sell more of the notes this year, he said.

The carrier joins South Korea’s two other mobile-phone carriers in selling ABS to capitalize on an increasing number of smartphone subscribers who pay the operators for their devices in monthly installments. SK Telecom Co. and LG U…………… continues on Bloomberg

LG D1L with built-in wireless charging to rival Samsung

LG D1L with built-in wireless charging to rival Samsung
News from Phones Review:

As I am sure most of the Android faithful are aware, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to surface in May, but rival Android phone maker LG is also gearing up to deliver a new Android handset that could be a real rival to the Samsung flagship handset, and that device is codenamed the LG D1L.

According to the guys over at Unwired View, by way of Korean site DDaily, the aforementioned LG D1L is expected to come with a built-in wireless charging feature, something that if rumours are to be believed, the Samsung Galaxy S3 will also support.

Of course the LG D1L won’t be the first device that supports wireless charging as the LG Revolution on Verizon also has the ability to be charged wirelessly, but you need to purchase a backplate, which of course makes the device that much thicker, whereas with the LG D1L that thickness isn’t a problem as the device’s original case is said to support wireless charging by default.

Other specs for the LG D1L are rumoured to be a 4.7-inch HD touch screen along with

Porn Pic in the Parliament

April 23, 2012 1:49 pm

Photo : Sakol Sandhiratne

The LED-backlit TV, which is the main monitor inside the assembly hall, displayed the pornographic picture briefly last week while MPs and senators were deliberating the charter amendment bill in its second reading.

A group of senior officials of the Secretariat of the House of Representatives led a team of technicians from CAT Telecom to check and test how the TV could have received the photo over a Wi-Fi connection. Following the test, the officials agreed that House Secretary-General Pithoon Pumhiran would be well advised to seek help from LG Electronics, which could use a special tool to check its data receiving log to see which mobile phone or tablet sent the image to be displayed on the LG TV.

The test found that the LG TV is equipped with a Wi-Fi dongle and is compatible with the so-called DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), thus allowing it to receive video clips and digital photos from a mobile gadget that is DLNA-certified using the AllShare application.

The test found that a Samsung Galaxy Tab, a t…………… continues on The Nation

The LG Lucid for Verizon Wireless targets first-time smartphone users looking for speed. The Lucid also sports a bright 4-inch display and dual-core processor. Read on to find out if this handset measures up to the value-priced competition.

Gorilla Glass protects the Lucid’s 4-inch display, ensuring that it can take some abuse. A chrome LG logo sits along the top of the phone, across from the front-facing 0.3 megapixel camera in the right hand corner. Mobile phone news website PocketNow posted an image of the rumored LG Miracle, indicating that the device also carries a branding of the Canadian telecommunication company Telus. Previously dubbed as LG Fantasy, the site’s source tipped that the handset is carrying an E704H moniker.

This contradicts the online publication’s previous claim that LG Fantasy will carry an E950 codename. Simply put, LG Fantasy and Miracle are different Windows Phone units. In addition, the LG device that made an appearance in Romania prior to Mobile World Congress event last February has a model name of E704. Review: LG Spectrum from Verizon Wireless a pleasant surprise tech talk nick …
News from Wilkes Barre Times-Leader:

tech talk

Posted: February 7
Updated: Today at 12:50 AM

When I received a box with the LG logo on it last week, I was skeptical. LG phones had always been a little bit on the vanilla side – they didn’t have the snazzy interface of HTC or the chassis appeal of Samsung. They were certainly competent, but I hadn’t seen anything that made me think, “Gee, that’s cool.”

The Spectrum has done quite a bit to change that opinion. First impressions can be everything — so when I opened the case and found myself staring at a 4.5-inch, high-definition display, set off by a minimalist bezel, I thought perhaps this was something different.

Turning it on proved a bit awkward – the length of the phone meant that it wanted to slide out of my hand. If you’re left-handed, however, it’s actually quite…………… continues on Wilkes Barre Times-Leader

LG Spectrum (Verizon Wireless)

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

LG Spectrum (Verizon Wireless)
News from PC Magazine:

Samsung and HTC may lead in Android sales, but LG is intent on catching up—even at the high-end. The LG Spectrum ($ 199.99) offers everything you’d expect on a top-notch Verizon Wireless cell phone, including 4G LTE data speeds, a true high-definition (720p) display, and a powerful camera and 1080p camcorder. Our tests revealed a few significant flaws that weren’t immediately apparent given the Spectrum’s high-end specs, but it’s still a solid choice nonetheless.

Design, LTE, and Call Quality
Another big phone, the LG Spectrum is not as big as its peers. It measures 5.3 by 2.7 by 0.4 inches (HWD) and weighs five ounces; that’s an ounce lighter than the HTC Rezound ($ 199.99, 4 stars), but just a tenth of an ounce lighter than the Samsung Galaxy Nexus ($ 299.99, 4 stars). The shiny plastic rear cover looks a little flimsy, but the phone is lightweight for an LTE device, so it’s a reasonable trade-off. The 4.5-inch Gorilla Glass display is one of the Spectrum’s star features. It offers an ultra-sharp 720-by-1280-pixel r…………… continues on PC Magazine

LG’s Optimus 3D successor reported to be called the 3D Max
News from SlashGear:

The Optimus 3D phone didn’t gain a huge amount of traction but it did set an important milestone as a flagship glasses-free 3D handset. And LG is poised to push that legacy forward with a phone we knew now only by its code-name, the CX2. Now, according to a new report, it looks like the shelf name might be the 3D Max.

This would make it the first smartphone with the term “3D” at the front of its name. The insider information comes from Israeli website GSM-Israel, which has a solid track record of leaking details that are later proven true. Based on earlier information we’ve seen, the phone will have a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch display, and a built-in 3D camera for still shots and video.

Of course, the tough part of selling a 3D phone right now is the lack of content. Sprint put out an aggressive campaign for its Evo 3D device that encouraged users to create their own content with the built-in 3D camera. Third-party app makers have been less enthusiastic, but perhaps at next month’s Mobile World Congress, where the 3D Max is expected to be fully unveiled, we’ll see advancements in this area.<…………… continues on SlashGear

LG Connect (MetroPCS)
News from CNET:

Editors’ note: As we currently have only a preproduction model of the Connect 4G, we are withholding an official CNET rating until we have a final model.

At CES this year, MetroPCS announced two new smartphones that will run on its 4G LTE network. One was the Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G, and the other was the more spec-robust, LG Connect 4G.

The LG Connect 4G is MetroPCS’ first dual-core handset, but that’s not the only reason why it’s tapped as the carrier’s shining star. It also has one of the brightest screens on the market–complete with 700 nits of NOVA glory.

Of course, being a MetroPCS phone does come with a few cons, since it isn’t the biggest, fastest, or most reliable network available in the United States. But it’s always great to see more higher-end options for consumers who want to stick to a no-contract, prepaid plan.

The phone will be available to retailers come February, and there’s still no word on its pricing. Although we managed to get our hands on a preproduction unit, be sure to stick around CNET once we snag a postproduction unit to fully evaluate.

LG Optimus S (Republic Wireless) Beta: Full Review
News from LAPTOP Magazine:

An unlimited, contract-free smartphone plan for $ 19 a month? Sounds too good to be true, but that’s the promise from Republic Wireless, a new hybrid cellular/VoIP carrier from Bandwidth.com. You dish out $ 199 for an LG Optimus S Android phone upfront (the only model offered on the network right now), then sign up for its cheap monthly service. In return, Republic Wireless gives you an all-you-can-eat buffet of unlimited calls, texts and data. The catch? Republic Wireless assumes you’ll be connected to a Wi-Fi network for most of the day, only using a cell network as backup. The service is still in beta (and trial slots are currently full), but Republic Wireless will supposedly let folks in by mid-2012. When it does, should you sign up for this ultra-low rate? Read on.

LG TO INTRODUCE ITS FIRST LTE TABLET

Expanding LTE Leadership into Tablets to
Meet the Needs of Consumers’ Faster Lifestyles

SEOUL, Jan. 18, 2012 – LG Electronics (LG) today unveiled its first LTE-capable tablet, the Optimus Pad LTE. Initially launching in Korea, LG has equipped the tablet with both LTE technology and True HD IPS display, the two features that have helped LG differentiate its latest smartphone, Optimus LTE, from the competition.

“With tablets generating five times more traffic than the average smartphone, it’s not a huge jump to assume that tablet users need and want faster connectivity,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. “The combination of LG’s LTE technology with the tablet form factor is a clear advantage for consumers who use a tablet as their primary consumption device when on the move.”

Boasting the best-in-class in the tablets, LG Optimus Pad LTE provides the ultimate user environment to enjoy HD multimedia with a 1280 x 720 True HD IPS display and 8 megapixel camera for shooting high definition video. The Optimus Pad LTE is also the world’s first tablet to support an SD memory card expandable to 32GB, recognizing the importance multimedia would play for owners of this device.
