The LG 200 that’s available from PayLo, Virgin Mobile’s low-cost prepaid service, is essentially a rebranded version of the LG Saber from U.S. Cellular. The LG 200 is a basic messaging phone without a lot of features, but it is very affordable at only $ 69.99 without a contract.

LG Optimus Elite (Virgin Mobile)

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

LG Optimus Elite (Virgin Mobile)
News from PC Magazine:

Though undeniably low-end on other carriers (like Sprint), the $ 149.99 LG Optimus Elite falls right into the middle of Virgin Mobile’s smartphone lineup. For just $ 20 more than the LG Optimus V ($ 129.99, 4 stars), the Elite gets you a larger display, a faster processor, and a better camera. It’s no great shakes compared with many other new Android phones on the market, but the LG Optimus Elite is a fine way to get connected with an affordable service plan from Virgin.

Design and Call Quality
The Optimus Elite measures 4.6 by 2.5 by 0.4 inches (HWD) and weighs 4.3 ounces. It’s a comfortable size to hold and handle, especially if you aren’t a fan of king-sized phones. The all-plastic construction feels a bit chintzy, but the black, textured back panel and silver plastic surrounding the glass face look fairly innocuous. The 3.5-inch, 480-by-320 pixel capacitive touch screen is fine, but the lower resolution can make for some jagged text. There are four haptic feedback-enabled touch keys beneath the display…………… continues on PC Magazine

LG Optimus Slider (Virgin Mobile)

Saturday, May 19th, 2012

LG Optimus Slider (Virgin Mobile)
News from CNET:

In early 2011, Virgin Mobile released an entry-level, competitively priced Android device known as the LG Optimus V. Save for a few cosmetic changes, the V was similar to the all the other Optimuses (Optimii?) released during that time, like the T, S, and M.

If you were fond of the Optimus V’s specs and commitment-free plan, but prefer a tactile keyboard to go with your flying fingers, the V’s second iteration, the LG Optimus Slider, may be worth considering. Other than the keyboard and a slightly faster processor, however, it isn’t that much different from the V. It still boasts the same 3.2-inch touch screen and 3.2-megapixel camera as before, though it’s priced at $ 179.99.

Design
The bulky LG Optimus Slider measures 4.53 inches tall by 2.32 inches wide by 0.58 inch thick. And at 5.11 ounces, it’s a heavyweight. I could stuff into the back pocket of my jeans, but it was a snug fit.

On the left side are a volume rocker and a M…………… continues on CNET

LG Upgrades Flagship Smartphone
News from Sci-Tech Today:

South Korean handset maker LG Electronics Inc. has upgraded its flagship smartphone model with a faster chip and a longer battery life, hoping to regain ground lost to more nimble rivals.

The Optimus LTE II smartphone, which costs 935,000 won ($ 804) without subsidies, will be released by all three mobile carriers in South Korea this week. Park Jong-seok, president of LG’s mobile business, said Thursday the new model is for South Korean users only but similar iterations would be released overseas.

LG, which is recuperating from massive losses in its mobile business since 2010, is betting on the introduction of a faster mobile network called LTE around the world to boost smartphone sales.

Hands On: LG Optimus Elite for Sprint and Virgin

Hands On: LG Optimus Elite for Sprint and Virgin
News from PC Magazine:

We got to check out LG’s eco-friendly Optimus Elite for Sprint and Virgin. Here’s what we saw.

Sprint and Virgin Mobile recently announced the LG Optimus Elite, a new, inexpensive, eco-friendly Android smartphone. PCMag got a chance to see both phones up close.

The green features are really being played up on these phones, so let’s look at those first. For starters, the Optimus Elite is ULE Platinum Certified, which is the highest level of environmental performance recognized by sustainable requirements established by UL Environment and Sprint. The phone’s casing is made of 50 percent recycled plastic, and is RoHS compliant, which means it is free from many potentially hazardous materials such as halogens, mercury, phthalates, and PVC.

The phone also comes with a charger that exceeds the EC Code of Conduct on energy efficiency when it comes to no-load consumption. Unlike many other chargers, the Optimus Elite’s charger only consumes 0.03 watts of power when plugged into a wall socket…………… continues on PC Magazine

LG Lucid Review: Solid 4G LTE Smartphone for First Time Users – Gotta Be Mobile
News from LG Lucid Review: Solid 4G LTE Smartphone for First Time Users – Gotta Be Mobile:

The LG Lucid on Verizon Wireless is an affordable 4G LTE Android smartphone with the first time smartphone owner in mind.

The Lucid may not have all the bells and whistles found on phones 2-3 times its price, but it does offer a fast 4G LTE connection, good battery life, solid build quality and an attractive upfront cost.

LG and Verizon promise that the Lucid will see an update to Android 4.0, the current Android operating system, but that shouldn’t be a deciding factor for shoppers interested in the Lucid.

The cost of a new smartphone is a minor part of the overall cost of ownership, so the $ 79.99 price after rebate is not the only thing to consider when looking at the LG Lucid.

I would not recommend the Lucid to my media loving sister, but it would be near the top of a list of phones recommended to my mother or my father-in-law had he not just purchased a $ 120 flip phone to avoid another data plan.

Read on to find out if the LG Lucid can meet the needs of new smartphone owners.

LG Optimus V (Virgin Mobile): Full Review

LG Optimus V (Virgin Mobile): Full Review
News from LAPTOP Magazine:

#mce_temp_url#Paying as little as $ 55 a month for unlimited data and talk time sounds pretty sweet, right? The $ 99.99 LG Optimus V on Virgin Mobile is a budget-friendly smartphone that doesn’t tie you down with a two-year contract, and is far less expensive than the major carriers. It’s not the most cutting-edge handset out there: We’re talking a 3.2-inch QVGA display and modest 3G speeds. If it’s simple you’re looking for, however, the Optimus V delivers, offering snappy performance and a responsive touch screen. But how does it compare with other contract-free smartphones?

Design

Click to EnlargeIt’s not remarkably thin or stylish, but the Optimus V keeps it simple design-wise. It’s a dead ringer for the LG Optimus S, except it’s done up in matte b…………… continues on LAPTOP Magazine

LG renames Optimus LTE to Optimus True HD LTE, disses Samsung’s HD Super AMOLED
News from Engadget:

While the Optimus LTE’s already made its way to South Korea, Japan and the US (in the guise of the Spectrum and the Nitro HD), LG’s decided to give this dual-core handset a new name ahead of its Hong Kong launch at the end of this month. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Optimus True HD LTE. Alas, the “true HD” part here doesn’t actually mean the phone’s getting 1080p resolution on a 4.5-inch panel (which would be 490ppi; yet Toshiba’s actually done it!); but we were told that ’tis really just a dig at Samsung’s HD Super AMOLED technology — you know, the magic behind that 4.65-inch screen on the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S II HD LTE.

Simply put, LG doesn’t think that 1,280 x 720 on PenTile counts as HD due to the lower number of sub-pixels; and…………… continues on Engadget

LG Optimus Elite pics surface for Sprint, Virgin Mobile NFC phone
News from CNET:

Despite its misleading name, the LG Optimus Elite should still offer NFC on a budget.

by Scott Webster March 30, 2012 10:15 AM PDT

The LG Optimus Elite should be a budget-friendly Android with NFC support.

(Credit: Pocketnow)

A pair of newly leaked renders arrived online this week, providing a clear look at the next LG smartphone, aimed for both Sprint and subsidiary Virgin Mobile. Despite its name — the LG Optimus Elite — early details suggest that the smartphone is anything but fancy.

The rumored specifications suggest a 3.2-inch HVGA display, a 5-megapixel camera with flash, a slower 800MHz processor, and NFC support. Although it isn’t clear which version of Android the Optimus Elite runs, the screenshots clearly indicate that it won’t be 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The photos suggest it’ll be an almost pure Gingerbread experience, with only Sprint ID/Mobile ID on top.

LG Lucid (Verizon Wireless)
News from PC Magazine:

The LG Lucid ($ 79.99) may be a budget Android smartphone for Verizon Wireless, but it never seems inexpensive. It wasn’t too long ago that 4G LTE data, 1080p video recording, and a dual-core processor were considered high-end, even if cutting edge handsets are just now moving past those specs. That makes the Lucid a good choice if you don’t need the absolute fastest speeds or latest features, but don’t want to miss out on anything important either.

Design and Call Quality
The LG Lucid measures 4.69 by 2.45 by 0.45 inches (HWD) and weighs 5 ounces. The shell is made entirely of glossy plastic, and appears completely black from the front. There’s an attractive, maroon-colored fade on the tapered back panel that gives the Lucid a classier, more translucent look, at least from that angle.

LG Optimus Black to Hit Sprint, Virgin, Alltel, in Addition to US Cellular

LG Optimus Black to Hit Sprint, Virgin, Alltel, in Addition to US Cellular
News from The Gadgets:

LG Optimus Black

The next member of the popular LG Optimus family, the LG Optimus Black, already hit the FCC with model number US855, designating US Cellular as the carrier. FCC documents today also point to three more variations on the model number, listed as LS855, AS855, and VM855, each one signifying a different carrier. The LS is for Sprint, the AS for Alltel, and the VM for Virgin Mobile. That means more dual core goodies on the way for smaller carriers in the US.

The LG Optimus Black features ultra-bright 4-inch screen with NOVA display technology, a 1 GHz cortex A8 processor, 2 GB of built-in storage, 512 MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera that records 720p video, and runs on Android 2.2 with the promise of a 2.3 upgrade in the future.
