Verizon’s LG G2 Gets A Software Update (VS98012B) That Isn’t Android 4.4
News from Android Police:

Like it says right up there in the title, don’t get your hopes up. The latest over-the-air update to the Verizon version of the LG G2 in not an updated version of Android, and it won’t get rid of those awful front-facing logos, either. But it does have a few much-needed bug fixes and security additions, plus it should smooth out some of the wrinkles in the initial release of LG’s customized software.

Here’s the changelog for software version, straight from the horse’s mouth (PDF link):

  • Video playback quality has been improved when viewing on websites
  • Dialing *611 will now appear on device screen
  • TalkBack reads each deleted letter when using Messaging Keyboard
  • Backup Assistant Plus resumes syncing after completing a voice call
  • Device lockups have been reduced
  • Viewdini application has been removed
  • Verizon Cloud app is now preloaded
  • Messaging is now supported via QSlide
  • Voice quality has been imp…………… continues on Android Police

LG Optimus Vu Headed to Verizon’s 4G LTE Network?

LG Optimus Vu Headed to Verizon’s 4G LTE Network?
News from Gotta Be Mobile:

A new LG smartphone recently passed through the FCC with radios for Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

According to Engadget, the LG V5950 recently visited the FCC with NFC as well as 4G LTE bands that match Verizon’s network. The wide design, speaker placement, and SIM card tray seem to match the LG Optimus Vu, LG’s giant Galaxy Note competitor. The upper left corner of the device also seems to hold an antenna like the Korean version of the phone.

The FCC never outright mentions the name Optimus Vu, but we don’t know of any other LG phones that look similar to this one. We don’t know of any other phones that match this form factor, actually.

After a visit to the FCC, we might see the Optimus Vu land on Verizon sometime in the near future. We have no idea when it will launch on Big Red, but it will likely be relati…………… continues on Gotta Be Mobile

Quick Voice search
News from Engadget:

After Apple and Samsung have made their Siri and S Voice features keystones of recent smartphone releases, it wasn’t long before other manufacturers jumped in and now it’s LG’s turn with Quick Voice for its Android phones (we’ll see how Apple responds to that). Just announced in Korea and rolling out soon for various members of the Optimus family like the Vu (later this month) and LTE II (in July), it brings natural voice recognition to commonly used functions like searching, setting up appointments or pulling up videos on YouTube. For Korean users it’s even tuned to check dates on the lunar calendar, although there’s no word yet on when or if it will arrive elsewhere.

TECH TIME: Verizon’s LG Lucid offers decent smartphone for low price VIDEO

TECH TIME: Verizon’s LG Lucid offers decent smartphone for low price VIDEO
News from Dearborn Press and Guide:

There are tons of new smartphone releases each year, usually each one greater than the next as all the big brands compete to have the most popular and latest greatest phone on the market.

These are the offerings that draw the crowd that wants the absolute best, but they are usually pretty pricey. So what is someone to do who wants to save a few bucks but not get a junk phone?

Thankfully, there is an increasing amount of quality products coming out for the more budget conscious. For Verizon Wireless customers, this list now includes the LG Lucid, a new smartphone from Verizon that isn’t going to compete with the biggest name phones like your iPhones, HTC Ones or Galaxy S3s, but will serve the needs of a less demanding user.

I recently spent some time with the Lucid, and here’s a full report.

LOOKS

You get the standard thin candybar design on the Lucid, and its 4-inch screen is pretty large but smaller than many new phones on the market. This may or not be something you appreciate. If you want a huge phone, there are plenty of options out there bigger than the Lucid. But I’m willing to bet most people will find 4 inches big enough. It feels quite comfortable in your hand, which is important. Gorilla Glass protects the screen, which is nice, and the weight is a very light 5 ounces. Exact size specs are 4.69 inches high, 2.4…………… continues on Dearborn Press and Guide

LG Optimus Elite – a Budget and Eco-friendly Phone
News from The Driod Guy:

June 1st, 2012 by Roxanne Leave a reply »

Here is another smartphone that is green, eco-friendly, and price conscious. This is also good for starters. The LG Optimus Elite is the successor of the very popular Optimus S.

The plastic case is made up to 50 percent of recycled plastic.  LG Optimus is inexpensive, small and light with 3.5-inch capacitive display, single core 800MHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 5-megapixel camera and also enabled with NFC capability.  By the way, this is the third device launched from Sprint.

LG Optimus Elite is not really for everyone because it has its pros and cons.  Indeed this is really good for starters for being budget and eco-friendly which is made of recycled plastic, small, lightweight and pocket-friendly.

LG Optimus Elite comes with Gingerbread.  For advanced users of smartphones, I know you are not comfortable with it and with its single-core processor, you may find this one very slow.  With a screen size of 3.5 inches it has a low resolution approximately at 320×480.  It is also one of…………… continues on The Driod Guy

UK: LG Prada 3.0 can now be yours for just £239.99
News from Unwired View:

The LG Prada 3.0 (or Prada Phone by LG 3.0, or Prada Phone 3.0 by LG – the company doesn’t seem to be very clear about this phone’s name) has been available in the UK since February. So far, the pricing’s been indicative of a typical high-end Android smartphone. But now you have the chance of getting a pretty decent handset for a great price. And let’s not forget that it has the name Prada slapped on its front – that’s got to be worth something to someone.

The Prada 3.0 can now be yours for just £239.99, a far cry from the £400+ you were previously required to pay for this exact same device. Expansys is the retailer making this possible, so go there and order some Pradas. At this price, it’s actually not a bad smartphone.

HTC Fireball and LG Spectrum Could Be Verizon’s First 4G LTE World Phones

HTC Fireball and LG Spectrum Could Be Verizon’s First 4G LTE World Phones
News from Gotta Be Mobile:

It appears that Verizon might have a couple of 4G LTE world phones up its sleeve in the form of the oft-rumored LG Spectrum and the recently leaked HTC Fireball. Both screenshots here, which list the phones in Verizon’s system, show an ‘O’ underneath the Global Phone listing. And while this doesn’t necessarily guarantee that they will be world phone’s, there’s a chance. ‘O’ is better than an ‘N’ which would mean flat out no.

To date, Verizon has not released a global ready 4G LTE smartphone.

The LG Spectrum aka Revolution 2 is likely going to be a phone similar to AT&T’s LG Nitro HD. It’s also assumed to be the successor to the LG Revolution, LG’s first 4G LTE offering on Verizon.

It’s

Will LG Nitro HD Outrun Motorola Droid RAZR?
News from International Business Times:

The LG Nitro HD, which was made available on AT&T‘s network from Dec. 4, is expected to face immense pressure from Motorola’s Droid RAZR, as Verizon is offering an additional $ 100 off on the Droid XYBOARD Tablet when customers buy the Motorola smartphone.

Taking advantage of LG’s new proprietary True HD technology, Nitro HD’s 4.5-inch AH-IPS (Advanced High-Performance In-Plane Switching) display supports resolutions up to 1280 x 720 pixels and offers unrivaled color accuracy, brightness, battery efficiency and performance.

LG said Nitro HD’s 500 nit display luminance allows for clear viewing in direct sunlight and RGB stripe pixels deliver incredibly accurate true-to-life color rendering. The phone is the first smartphone in AT&T‘s portfolio with a true high definition scree…………… continues on International Business Times
