The interest in Android phones has grown at a record pace, challenging Apple Inc.’s dominance in the mobile industry.

Homegrown Android phones such as Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One Mini and LG G3 are three of the most talked about smartphones of today.

Three different handsets from three different global leaders in smartphone technology – who wins this three way face off? We take a look at a Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One Mini vs LG G3 comparison.

HTC One Mini is the obligatory scale-down version of the brand’s premier smartphone.

Released in August of 2013, this smartphone features 4.3-inch display with 1280 x 720 resolution and 342 pixels per inch density, 16GB with 1GB RAM, 4MP rear facing camera, 1.6MP front-facing camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with dual-core 1.4GHz.

LG G3 review: The best premium 4G Android smartphone in the market
News from Firstpost:

They say all good things come to those who wait and it seems like the G3 was quite worth the wait after all. With a launch price of Rs 47,990 for the 16GB version, the G3 is here for to satiate your flagship hunger. Here’s our review of LG’s flagship after a week’s usage.

Design and Build

Like all the current flagship Android phones, the G3 is a well-done evolution of the G2. The display size is larger at 5.5-inches but LG has managed to keep the dimensions closer to a 5-inch phone, which is highly commendable. This is now the second phone in India to sport an Ultra HD resolution of 2560 x 1440, pushing the pixel count to a maddening 534ppi. It’s an IPS LCD display and the brightness levels are very good making it easily legible outdoors. The colours don’t seem too accurate however when compared to Full HD IPS displays or AMOLED displays. The difference is only noticeable when compared however.

Stunning design and build

The phone feels elegant and premium to hold albeit quite slippery. This reminded us of the HTC One M8 a lot. Like the G2, there aren’t any buttons on the sides, just the IR blaster on the top and the USB and headphone jack down at the bottom.

The metal back looks quite stunning

The back portion sports a brushed metal finish, whic…………… continues on Firstpost

LG releases QCircle SDK to developers, along with three other SDKs
News from androidandme.com:

The LG G3 is a great phone that deserves great accessories. One of those accessories is the QuickCircle case, which is similar to Samsung’s S View case in that it has a window that lets users view and interact with certain features on the lock screen. The QuickCircle uses a circular design, so it requires a bit of a change to the build of the app being used for it to format correctly with the shape. That should be easier and more prevalent with today’s release of the QCircle SDK.

The QCircle SDK will allow devs to create apps that easily interact with the QuickCircle case, which should be welcome for LG G3 owners. Three other SDKs are also launching, the first being the QSlide SDK that will let apps take advantage of the split-screen experience that’s available on LG phones. The QRemote SDK is used for allowing apps to use the IR blaster on LG phones, enabling it to become a universal remote, and the QPair SDK allows LG phones and tablets to pair with one another for things like seamless texting and calling between both devices. All in all, it’s a strong group of SDKs that should allow apps to have a better experience on LG phones.

What’s your favorite software feature on your phone?

Place an ageing iPhone next to a new Samsung, HTC or LG and it’s clear why Android phones have swept up 68 per cent of the smartphone market from April to June this year.

Up from 47 per cent last year, the figures released by research firm IDC on Wednesday show that manufacturers using Google’s operating system are fast gobbling up the market with sales of close to 105 million smartphones in the recent quarter.

With big screens and fluid-smooth interfaces, the current crop are at the top of the game when it comes to letting users surf the Web, get connected on Facebook or simply watching a video. If you are in the market for a new smartphone, here are three Androids you should be looking for.

1. HTC One X
When I first saw it at its Singapore launch in March, the One X impressed with its hardy but flexible case, light weight and very fluid performance. Almost half a year later, it is still the first phone I’d recommend to folks…………… continues on Techgoondu
