This could be Google’s new Nexus 5 smartphone, built by LG
News from The Verge:

We waved goodbye to the Nexus 5 when Google stopped selling its 2013 flagship Android smartphone earlier this year, but it might be time to say hello to a revamped version. Rumors in May suggested that Google was working with partners Huawei and LG to produce two new Nexus phones — a 5.7-inch Huawei device, and a 5.2-inch model with the Korean manufacturer. Now, thanks to a leaked photo originally posted in the Nexus Indonesia Google+ community, we might have our first glimpse of the new Nexus 5 in the wild.

The image resembles renders of the rumored LG Nexus

The picture shows the back of a white Nexus device. At the base is a sticker featuring a small red circle that appears to be LG’s logo, suggesting this phone, if legitimate, is the LG device rather than the Huawei collaboration. At the top is a camera lens, and just underneath, a similarly sized circle that looks to be the rumored fingerprint scanner. The image closely resembles rend…………… continues on The Verge

Leaks of the upcoming Google Nexus 5 (2015) reveal that the gadget will come with a large display for a better mobile experience.

NDTV Gadgets reported that the leaked renders of the Nexus 5 shows a slim design for the phone with the volume control and power button placed on its right side.

“The bottom panel will house the 3.5mm audio jack and will also include the charging slot. The left panel of the handset is said to sport the SIM card slot,” the report said.

The renders also reportedly show that the Nexus 5 may come with a fingerprint scanner which is believed to be placed on the rear side of the phone, below the main camera.

LG’s successor to the G3, which is shown here, will go on sale April 29. Josh Miller/CNET

LG’s new G4 phone will reach consumers on April 29 — at least those in South Korea, the company told CNET.

LG touted the new phone and a special promotion via a Korean blog posted on Monday. The blog didn’t reveal when the phone will hit retailers in other countries. LG told CNET that other markets will announce their respective rollout dates after April 28, the same date the company will hold a launch event for the new phone.

Last year, LG kicked off its G3 initially in South Korea and then later introduced it to other regions.

4 brand new Android phones you might want this year instead of the Galaxy S6
News from BGR:

The Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 may have stolen the show at MWC 2015, especially the Galaxy S6 edge version, but that doesn’t mean all smartphone buyers currently considering a new Android handset will go for a high-end device. Nor should they, since the S6 is ridiculously expensive and there will be plenty of cheaper Android devices launching soon, running Android 5.0 Lollipop right out of the box.

In what follows, we’ll be ta…………… continues on BGR

Is this our first look at the LG G4?
News from Phandroid.com:

Talk about the LG G4 at AndroidForums.com!

Every company falls victim to a leak or two ahead of their flagship devices’ official unveiling, and LG is no different. The LG G4 has escaped our grasps for far too long, but we might have just gotten our first look at the thing.

Surprise, surprise: it looks like almost every LG flagship device we’ve seen the past couple of years, rear button placement and all. The leak was provided by @onleaks, which is manned by one of the editors from credible French technology blog NowhereElse.Fr.

We’d say that’s pretty good reason to believe this leak will hold up, but if the HTC One M9 debacle taught us anything it’s that no one truly knows anything until the official goods are delivered. It’s…………… continues on Phandroid.com

New LG Phone Certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance, Could This Be the LG G4 for a US …
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

The run up to the announcement of a new phone is always an exciting game.  First we usually get word of the device being made in the first place.  Then specs leak, followed by possible footage of the device via Mr. Blurrycam shots in a random location, followed of course by more concrete evidence.  One of the final processes a phone or tablet have to go through is a set of certifications by various groups out there.  The FCC is one in the US, and there are many other organizations like it throughout the world, and the Wi-Fi Alliance is another.  Certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance ensures interoperability with the various Wi-Fi standards out there in the world.

Now it looks like some new mystery LG phone has passed through the Wi-Fi Alliance’s tests and has achieved certification from the organization.  What this device might be is a mystery but there are plenty of clues left behind in the process that point us in the right direction.  First this particular phone ships with Android L as listed in the certification, meaning it’s not likely some budget phone that LG’s trying to ship with KitKat and call it a day.  Many phones will…………… continues on Android Headlines – Android News

Phone Comparisons: LG G Flex 2 vs Motorola X 2014
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

Boy, do we have a good one for you today – the new LG G Flex 2 takes on the venerable Motorola Moto X 2014.  We have two devices that look like they are curved in the back, but only the G Flex 2 is truly the curved device – body, battery and display.  Both devices feel great in your hand and both devices are well built with a premium look and feel.  How well does the $ 99 Moto X stack up against the $ 300 LG G Flex 2…it may surprise you.

The two devices actually do have a few things in common – they both use the OLED technology…just different types and both use a Snapdragon processor…just different models.  They both offer a 32GB storage model, but the Moto X does not offer any expansion options.  The both use a 13MP sensor for their main camera and even the front-facing cameras (FFC) are similar at 2MP and 2.1MP.  They are even very close to the same size, with the G Flex 2 just slightly larger.  Both have the usual suspects – Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC capable, and both have a microUSB port for charging and data transfers.  They both offer Quick Charge and they both are running 5.0.1 Lollipop.

Please look at the detailed Specification and feature sheet below and there you will be able to see how they compare spec-by-spec.  After that, we will take a closer look at the individual devices, weigh their pros and cons, and decide which one of th…………… continues on Android Headlines – Android News

LG G3 Screen Considered Lower Quality than Chinese Entry Phones at 2.5x Price
News from BusinessKorea:

The G3 Screen with LG Electronics’ own application processor (AP) is suffering from sluggish sales, as it is widely acknowledged to deliver low performance for its price. The new handset is even inferior to the X3 with Huawei’s own AP, but the launch price of the G3 Screen is 2.5 times higher.

According to industry sources on Dec. 1, there is growing controversy over low performance of the G3 Screen in online communities for smartphones. A source in the industry said, “LG has never designed its own AP before, but this is too much,” adding, “Chinese entry-level APs are one generation ahead of LG’s AP.””

It has been more than a month since the new model was introduced to the market on Oct. 24, but it has posted a poor sales growth. An industry source said, “From the beginning of sales, more than 250,000 won [US$ 224] of mobile phone subsidies has been injected. Currently, the device can be purchased at around 200,000 won [US$ 179], but sales volume is pretty low.”

The reason for sluggish sales lies in the fact that the G3 Screen equipped with LG’s first AP Nuclun performs poorly compared to prices. Nuclun is an octa-core processor composed of a 1.5 GHz quad-core chip and a 1.2 GHz quad-core chip, developed with an investment of more than 200 billion won (US$ 179 million) over the past two years.

Industry analysts are saying that LG has yet to sol…………… continues on BusinessKorea

In the market for a budget LTE Android phone? Meet the LG F60
News from TechnologyTell:

Just so there are no misunderstandings, let me start off by rephrasing the question in the article’s headline. Is anyone in the market for a budget LTE-capable Android handheld that’s not the Moto G 4G? You know, the incredibly cheap, amazingly solid 4.5 incher Amazon sells for $ 199.99?

There is someone? Well, color me surprised then. Don’t get me wrong, the confusingly named F60 that LG just introduced has a few things going for it. But overall, it’s inferior to the G 4G, and my hunch tells me it’s going to be pricier too.

For now, LG’s mum on the subject of retail costs, merely claiming the F60 is aimed at “young and old users alike who are looking for the fastest mobile experience possible at a reasonable price”. Sounds vague enough for LG to ill-advisedly slap the F60 with, say, a $ 250 price tag.

The handheld, that’s not to be mistaken for the recently announced,

LG G3 Review: This Phone Shoots Lasers

Saturday, July 19th, 2014

LG G3 Review: This Phone Shoots Lasers
News from Huffington Post UK:

The LG G3 is the latest flagship from the smartphone and electronics company, it boasts a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and comes with a state-of-the-art laser focusing system which shoots lasers out of the back of the phone.

Key features:

  • 5.5-inch Quad HD Display
  • 13MP OIS+ with laser autofocus
  • 1-Watt Speaker
  • Quick Circle Case
  • Wireless Charging
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 2.4GHz quad-core processor
  • 3,000mAh removable battery

Verdict:

When it comes to making smartphones LG has an image problem. On the one hand it can make probably some of the best Android smartphones in the world (the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 are both clear examples). Then, on the other hand, it can ignore everything it has learned and throw it all away.

The G2 was universally loved, and it had many impressive features but it hasn’t aged well, look around the web and you’ll see that the media and consumers were less than in love with just how cluttered the G2 was. Put the G2 and the G3 next to each other and they’ll certainly look similar in terms of physical appearance. Turn on the screen though and the contrast is stark.

Look on a timeline and it’s even more apparent how indecisive the company is, first came the Nexus 4, then the Optimus G (which was…………… continues on Huffington Post UK

LG G3 Review – Droid Life
News from LG G3 Review – Droid Life:

g3 review-1

Quad HDs. Lasers. Floating Arcs. Q all the things. LG has filled its new G3 flagship with so many keywords and flashy marketing terms that you can’t help but give it a look. And you know what, you would be a fool not to give it more than a look.

LG has slowly been rebuilding its reputation over the last couple of years, partly with the help of Google and the Nexus brand, but also thanks to last year’s G2 and some of its recently released tablets. The Korean company has even tried to become the alternative to Samsung and those looking for something different. LG wants to be taken seriously, so they are playing with design ideas (rear buttons), testing out new materials (self-healing backs), and of course, pushing out new display types often (think of the curved panel in the G Flex).

The LG G3 feels like the culmination of all that LG has worked for. It introduces new technologies, its accompanying marketing plan is taking direct shots at Samsung, and they finally have people truly excited about one of their products. It’s time to take a lo…………… continues on LG G3 Review – Droid Life

LG G Pro 2 review: This is a Mr Dependable
News from Indian Express:

The phone comes with 16GB inbuilt storage. That is good enough to put off the purchase of a storage card if you have been left broke by the cost of this phone.

Summary

The LG G Pro 2 is among the best devices to watch a long movie on.

It is somewhat ironical that I am writing the LG G Pro 2 review days after the launch of the LG G3. The Indian mobile market, as big as it is, does not seem to stimulate LG enough and it has been taking its own sweet time bringing its smartphones to India. It is even more surprising because LG has the kind of phones that can really make an impact in the market. Of late, there seems to have been a gradual change in this attitude and phones are making it to India quicker than before. The G Pro 2 has taken just a couple of months, an achievement in itself.

Specs: 5.9-inch true FHD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen (373 ppi) | 2.26 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor | 3GB RAM | 16GB internal memory + 64GB external | micro SIM | 13-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera, Full HD video recording | 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4, GPS, DLNA, NFC, Miracast | 3200mAh battery | Android 4.4.2 KItKat
