LG G4 to be ‘radically different,’ phone more powerful than the G series in …
News from 9 to 5 Google:

A couple reports out of Korea today highlight some of LG’s plans for the relatively near future, including a statement (via Korea Times) from the company’s mobile chief Cho Jun-ho suggesting that the upcoming LG G4 is going to be “radically different” than its predecessor. The device will reportedly feature a “metal-mixtured” body and sport the company’s LG UX 4.0, which Cho says will be announced sometime before the new phone.

Also, LG also reportedly has a completely new device series in the works (via Korea Herald), featuring more powerful specs than the current top-of-the-line G series…

As for the LG G4, it’s not just going to be aesthetically different as LG’s mobile head says that the company has interest in building some of its own internals for the device. Specifically, LG wants to no longer be dependent on Qualcomm, a leading provider of smartphone systems-on-a-chip, and has reportedly “spent millions of dollars to develop processors at its logic-chip research lab.”

Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Samsung Galaxy S5, Note 4, LG G3, Xperia Z3 …
News from Christian Post:

By Liezl Dunuan , Christian Post Contributor

March 3, 2015|1:37 pm

Google/Twitter/Image

After Google unveiled the latest version of the Android mobile operating system Lollipop in June 2014, smartphone and tablet users on Android have been asking if and when they will get an update on their phones.

The earliest to get the updates were the Nexus devices with HTC and Motorola sometime November 2014. Google is leaving it to the phone manufacturers to schedule their releases for their own devices and several reports have come out to try and consolidate information about Lollipop updates.

One such report is found in Digital Trends, and it tries to round up updated news, tidbits and rumors about Lollipop releases on the major smartphone brands.

It starts the round up with information about Samsung phones. According to the report, Galaxy S5 owners in the US started getting the updates starting early February, for those who are on the Verizon network, which should be completed by the end of February. T-Mobile S5 owners got theirs in mid-February. For S5 owners in Europe, they will be receiving their updates soon, the schedule being dependent on how fast the networks approve the new firmware. For Samsung phablet users of the Note 4 and…………… continues on Christian Post

Is the LG G3′s laser-equipped camera better than the Galaxy S5′s?

Is the LG G3′s laser-equipped camera better than the Galaxy S5′s?
News from CNET:

The LG G3 has a great set of specs, but perhaps most interesting is the camera, which uses a laser to autofocus. We see how it compares to the Galaxy S5.

Andrew Hoyle/CNET

The G3 is LG’s latest flagship phone, hoping to tempt your cash from your wallet with a strong lineup of specs, including a ludicrously high definition 5.5-inch display, quad-core processor and a camera that uses an infrared laser to assist its autofocus.

That’s right, a laser. That may seem like a bizarre addition and one that LG has only included to differentiate its phone from all the other flagship Android devices knocking around, but LG reckons it’s actually pretty useful. By using light to focus, rather than the sensor trying to detect areas of contrast in the scene, LG argues the camera can focus much faster, meaning you’re less likely to miss the…………… continues on CNET

This is the biggest reason why the LG G3 isn’t metal
News from BGR:

The recently announced LG G3 is one of the most impressive Android smartphones we’ve ever seen, even though a majority of the specifications had already leaked prior to the official reveal. Most of those leaks turned out to be spot on, but one detail in particular was sadly inaccurate — the LG G3 features a plastic body instead of a metal one.

Metal bodies haven’t yet become a premium smartphone standard, but HTC managed to turn some heads earlier in the year with the sleek design of its metal-encased HTC One (M8). Samsung couldn’t quite reach those heights with the Galaxy S5, but the S5 Prime is expected to be the company’s opportunity to catch up. So why couldn’t LG wrap the G3 in metal? According to Chul Bae Lee, LG’s VP of Mobile Design, it would have been to…………… continues on BGR

LG G Flex review: There is more to this phone than the curve

LG G Flex review: There is more to this phone than the curve
News from Financial Express:

LG G Flex has a curved screen that can flex itself if needed

SummaryThere is nothing in the curve that really makes you buy this phone. But there is a lot in the phone that can make you take this curve.

I have always felt that Android phones have had a problem finding differentiators. That is why many of them came packed with features, mostly software, that are at the best gimmicks. But it is hard to sell a phone on a gimmick, however good the gimmick might be. That is why of late some manufacturers have been looking at design to be the big differentiator. The most different phone as far as design goes has to be the LG G Flex, with its curved screen that can flex itself if needed.

Design

Yes, with a curved screen you have a design that is bound to make some heads turn. But this is not just a gimmick of a design and seems very practical. The shape seems more conducive to making calls as it corresponds the shape of the face. But you tend to poke your ear with the top of the phone. The curve is also a bit awkward w…………… continues on Financial Express

LG: More than 1 million Optimus LTE phones sold
News from BGR:

By: Todd Haselton | Jan 26th, 2012 at 12:15AM

LG announced on Wednesday that it has sold more than 1 million Optimus LTE handsets. A version of the device landed in the United States as the Nitro HD on AT&T, although it’s unclear if that phone is figured into the count. “The combination of LTE connectivity with LG’s True HD IPS display has resonated with the public regarding the potential of LTE technology,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. LG said it sold 600,000 Optimus LTE units during the first three months the phone was available. The company also sold 8,500 units in Japan on the phone’s launch day. The Optimus LTE features a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720-pixel True HD IPS display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera. LG’s full press release follows after the break.
