LG smartphone sales surged 25% in 2014, thanks in part to the success of LG G3
News from Digital Trends:

LG Electronics Inc. plays second fiddle to Samsung, its big brother in South Korea, but that hasn’t stopped the company from putting its stamp on the smartphone market. According to industry sources, LG’s smartphone sales grew more than 25 percent year-over-year in 2014, thanks in part to the success of the LG G3.

In 2014, the No. 2 tech company in South Korea shipped an estimated 59.6 million smartphone units, up 25.2 percent from the 47.6 million smartphone units shipped in 2013, according to sources speaking to The Korea Herald. LG, which entered the smartphone market in 2009, shipped 20 million smartphone units in 2011 and 26.3 million units in 2012, according to data from Strategy Analytics.

LG G Flex 2 vs. iPhone 6 Plus
News from Gizmag:

LG’s second stab at a curved and flexible smartphone is a bit less experiment, a bit more flagship. Let’s see how the features and specs of the G Flex 2 compare to those of Apple’s flagship phablet, the iPhone 6 Plus.

Size

The two handsets have identical screen sizes, but the G Flex 2 makes more economical use of its face. It’s 6 percent shorter and 4 percent narrower than the iPhone 6 Plus.

The iPhone is technically 24 percent thinner, but those numbers are skewed a bit, as the G Flex 2 has a tapered back and the above depth only counts its thickest point (it slims down to 7.1 mm at its thinnest points, near the top and bottom edges).

LG sells 10 million Optimus L-Series phones, stays semi-humble with success
News from Engadget:

Although the Optimus G and its Nexus 4 cousin are clearly the darlings of LG’s mobile lineup, that isn’t precluding the Korean company from crowing about a milestone for its more pedestrian Optimus L-Series smartphones. The company has officially passed 10 million sales of L-Series phones spread across the entire line, ranging from the tiny L3 through to the extra-large L9. LG only makes a partial attempt at keeping itself grounded, though. While it’s quick to acknowledge that 10 million is a “modest” amoun…………… continues on Engadget

LG Explains Reason Behind Nexus 4 Shortage
News from Hot Hardware:

Google may have pulled the biggest prank of the year by launching its much coveted Nexus 4 smartphone, only to tease buyers with a shortage of inventory and long wait times for the lucky few who managed to place an order. Could it really be that Google and LG simply failed to anticipate the demand a powerful and pure Android phone would elicit? In a word, yes.

In a few more words, LG told CNet’s U.K. division that it’s having trouble meeting demand because the smartphone is wildly popular.

“[The Nexus 4] had proven extremely popular, and as such retailers have been met with huge demand,” said Andy Coughlin, head of mobile at LG U.K. “We are working closely with Google to ensure that those who wish to purchase a handset are able to do so.”

LG isn’t solely to blame. Coughlin explained that LG supplies product quantities based on retailers’ forecasts, a notion that insinuates Google didn’t fully anticipate how popular the Nexus 4 would be. That’s a…………… continues on Hot Hardware
