LG’s G3 smartphone will launch on May 27th
News from The Verge:

A couple of months after most of its competitors unveiled their flagship phones for 2014, LG is ready to follow suit. The Korean company has issued invitations to events in six cities across the world on May 27th and 28th, with San Francisco, New York, and London holding simultaneous gatherings for the launch of a new product. Seoul, Singapore, and Istanbul will follow the next day.

It’s not explicitly named, but there can be little doubt that this will be the new G3 Android smartphone. LG acknowledged it plans to release the G3 within the second quarter of 2014 in its earnings report filed yesterday. We already know the phone will be available in a gold color, and the invitation from LG appears to have been set in a dark brushed aluminum surface, potentially hinting at the company using a premium new material. Moving to a metal case would i…………… continues on The Verge

LG will launch golden G3 smartphone with crazy resolution…
News from The Verge:

A third of the way into 2014, we already have new flagship phones from almost all the big Android handset makers: the Galaxy S5, the Xperia Z2, and the new One are all now on sale. The one company that’s kept relatively quiet throughout the period has been LG, manufacturer of the much-loved G2 and Google’s Nexus 5. Today some of the mystery about its future plans has been dispelled as The Verge has received the first image of the retail box for LG’s next big Android phone. Originally codenamed the B2, the new phone takes the predictable title of LG G3 and is set for a summer release.

LG has never seen a spec it didn’t want to enlarge

The gold-colored box is not incidental. Sources tell The Verge that the Korean phone maker intends to launch its next flagship in a golden hue, matching the broader trend that’s been embraced by the gold Galaxy S5, HTC One, iPhone 5S, and LG’s own golden G2 variant. LG G Flex review: Futuristic smartphone, hefty price tag

LG G Flex review: Futuristic smartphone, hefty price tag
News from Times of India:

Smartphone technology is evolving everyday. It has reached a stage where phones and tablets sport more powerful processors than PCs and laptops. Device makers introduce features with their flagships that may or may not be of use to end users. However, there have been very few experiments with the form factor of smartphones since the full-touch slab design became mainstream. Flexible materials have been showcased and prototyped, but the last few months have seen the first few commercially available devices that sport flexible materials including a flexible, curved display.

LG G Flex is the second phone after Samsung Galaxy Round to boast of this unique form factor. The phone features the curved from top to bottom and offers some amount of flexibility. While people were skeptical if the phone will make it to all markets, LG decided to launch it widely, though it comes at a steep price. Does the LG G Flex offer enough reasons to buy a curved smartphone? We try to find out in our review.

Build & Design
LG G Flex’s unique design catches your eye the very first time you look at the phone. Instead of the conventional flat, slate-like design, the phone is curved at the back in a concave form, vertically (top to bottom). In addition to being curved, the phone can be flattened out to a limited extent by applying pressure whe…………… continues on Times of India

HTC One M8 Vs. LG G3 Review and Comparison: Which Smartphone Will Hold …
News from Latin Post:

First Posted: Apr 07, 2014 03:00 PM EDT

If you thought the ongoing Apple iPhone vs. Samsung Galaxy battle was gnarly, then you’re definitely not familiar with the current Android wars of 2014. Three new Android handsets have either launched already or will be launching quite soon. All three of these phones, the HTC One M8, the LG G3 and the Samsung Galaxy S5, are premium smartphones. They will attempt to beat each other in sales numbers, but just who knows how successful they will be. They could wind up cannibalizing each other in the marketplace.

For brevity’s sake we’ll compare two of these phones today: the weeks old HTC One M8 flagship from the diminutive Taiwanese company and the LG G3 handset from everyone’s favorite Korean electronics firm. The G2 came out of nowhere and slowed the HTC One M7′s thunder late last year. Whether HTC future-pro…………… continues on Latin Post

Consumer review: Verizon Wireless LG G2
News from minbcnews.com:

Opinion Piece Author: Kris Russo, NBC25 Account

Phone

Verizon Wireless LG G2 has all the same features of its more expensive rivals.  When looking at the phone it has buttons on the bottom of the device that are used for Menu (Apps), Home, Back, and Search.  This phone is great for someone who is looking to dive into the world of Droid. It is not 100% stock Droid OS like Motorola is; LG has included its own spin on the OS that helps make it more user friendly, and this includes a “starter mode” that is available to help ease in a newbie!

The clarity of the phone is good.  It also has a strategically placed power and volume rocker button on the back of the device right below the camera.

Design

The Verizon Wireless LG G2 is powered by a 2.26GHz Quad Core processor. It does have 2GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage but the actual formatted capacity is less. The LG G2 can take up to a 64 microSD card for extra storage.

There’s a power/sleep button is on the upper center of the back of the phone right below the camera with the volume rocker on either side of the power/sleep button.  On the left side at the bottom is the 3.5mm headphone jack.  In the cen…………… continues on minbcnews.com

LG G3: What we know about the smartphone so far
News from 3G.co.uk:

We know the LG G3 is coming, but what do we know so far?

With the Samsung Galaxy S5 out of the way and the All New HTC One just around the corner the internet’s collective eyes and ears have turned their attention to the LG G3.

There was a time when little attention was paid to LG, but after the surprisingly impressive LG G2, not to mention the company’s work on recent Nexus phones it’s become a company to keep an eye on and the LG G3 is likely to be its most exciting handset this year.

As with all these things nothing is really known as yet, but there is a healthy amount of rumour…………… continues on 3G.co.uk

Reported Screenshots From the LG G3 Leaked, Confirms QHD Display
News from Droid Life:

Even if Samsung apparently gave consumers the shaft with no QHD display on the Galaxy S5, and the company’s CEO denies any type of premium line of the device that features one, LG is wasting no time in making one of its own.

In new reported screenshots leaked from the possibly upcoming LG G3, a QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 is all but confirmed.

Besides the size of the shots, not much else can be seen. It appears obvious that the device will come running Android 4.4+ Kit Kat, and of course, come running LG’s custom skin atop it.

LG’s G Flex: Is a curved smartphone screen innovation or desperation? (review)
News from VentureBeat:

Curved smartphone screens are going to be the next hot thing — if you believe the likes of Samsung and LG.

The two Korean electronics companies have recently rolled the first curved-screen smartphones out to market. These devices will likely serve as precursors to phones with truly flexible displays. (Imagine a smartphone you could twist onto your wrist — talk about a smartwatch.)

LG was first out the gate with the G Flex, which builds on the company’s recent experience creating solid-yet-boring Android phones but adds a curved screen. It’s fast, sports a massive screen, and ticks off just about every check box for what you’d want in a powerful new Android phone.

But why does it have a curved screen? What exactly does it offer that our boring old flat phones don’t? That remains to be seen.

The good: It sure is a conversation starter

If there’s one thing the G Flex has going for it, it’s that it doesn’t look like any other smartphone around right now. When you’re surrounded by iPhones and Android look-alikes, sometimes it’s nice having a way to stand out fro…………… continues on VentureBeat

LG G Flex advertisement showcases ‘the most human phone ever’
News from NDTV:

LG recently released a video advertisement for its LG G Flex phablet, which is the company’s first curved display smartphone, that features a flexible 6-inch P-OLED display.

The LG G Flex video advertisement boasts of the handset’s natural curve, its flexibility and its self-healing functionality. Unfortunately, the video has since been pulled by the company, but we’ve found the video uploaded by another channel.

The G Flex advertisement shows two friends – ‘Danny boy’, and the other, unnamed – meeting at a restaurant, celebrating Danny’s birthday. The unnamed friend, together with a friend (Ben) who couldn’t make it to the birthday party, gifts Danny a LG G Flex phone.

When Danny pulls the G Flex out of its box, his hand turns into a ‘phone’, featuring a human ear as the earpiece, and a bearded mouth as the mouthpiece. The beard is Ben’s, who is calling to wish Danny a happy birthday, seemingly indicating the phone is so human it morphs into the caller. The conceit is taken further when Danny feeds Ben’s mouth some cake, and at the end of the advertisement, w…………… continues on NDTV

Mobileworld: LG plans smartwatch, Nokia’s low cost smartphone and Sony’s HD …
News from Belfast Telegraph:

LG Electronics has said it will launch a computerised wristwatch later this year, entering a nascent market where Samsung, Sony and smaller companies such as Pebble are already jostling for dominance.

Park Jong-seok, president of LG’s mobile communications division, said early smartwatch models failed to demonstrate why consumers should buy them. He said LG’s strategy is not to release a half-baked product but, like other smartwatches, the LG smartwatch will be paired with a smartphone.

The South Korean company announced its smartwatch plans at a mobile industry fair in Barcelona, Spain. Mr Park made his comments during a pre-announcement briefing last week.

G Flex: At CES, LG announces curved-screen smartphone for US this spring
News from Washington Post:

LAS VEGAS — LG was showing off its curves at its CES press conference Monday, promising new televisions and a smartphone with screens that curl in at the ends.

The company said that its flexible, curved smartphone, the LG G Flex, will hit the U.S. market on three of the four major carriers — AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile — in the second quarter of 2014. And while it would be easy to dismiss the curved screen as a gimmick, LG executives were adamant that they were not just “innovating for innovation’s sake.”

LG: Flexible phones are the ‘future of the industry’
News from TrustedReviews:

Following the recent launch of the LG G Flex, the Korean manufactuer has suggested that bendable handsets are here to stay, claiming that flexible phones are “the future of the industry.”

With the LG G Flex having landed late last year as the world’s first consumer available flexible phone, boasting a vertical bend that can be straightened when pressure is applied, LG has now suggested that it expects the technology to become a future industry standard.

“Do we see flexible phones as the future of the industry? The quick answer is yes,” Frank Lee, LG’s Head of Mobile Communications said speaking exclusively with TrustedReviews.

Suggesting that the LG G Flex could be the first of many flexible phones, not only from LG itself but the wider industry, he added: “For so long we have accepted the current form factor and there have been a lot of critics where people have been asking the questions of what’s next. This is just a glimpse of what could be.”

While standard candybar handset designs have been the norm for some time, the company believes t…………… continues on TrustedReviews

iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S5, LG G Flex and Nexus 6: Smartphones that will …
News from Daily News & Analysis:

2014 has begun and it looks promising for the smartphone market. The industry skyrocketed and 2013 saw many big brands competing with their flagship releases. However, it’s time for a fresh start and we are looking at smartphones that haven’t launched yet but are hugely anticipated. Some ofcourse could just be rumours while some will actually see the light of the day. Let’s cut through the speculation and highlight those phones we really want to see in 2014.

iPhone 6 and 6C

It’s just been a few months since the iPhone 5S  and 5C were launched. However, rumors about next year’s iPhone, presumed to be called the iPhone 6,  have already started emerging. Currently, rumors suggest that the iPhone 6 could have a larger display, possibly as large as 4.8-inches, something that would satisfy the demand for a larger iPhone. Apple historically has released the iPhone in either the summer or the fall, so we’re at least a few months away from a release. Consumers could get a redesign, an upgraded camera and processor, and the introduction of Apple’s iOS 8 software. We haven’t heard about an iPhone 6c just yet but we don’t expect Apple to simply abandon the product, so an iPhone 6c seems likely for 2014.
