This could be Google’s new Nexus 5 smartphone, built by LG

This could be Google’s new Nexus 5 smartphone, built by LG
News from The Verge:

We waved goodbye to the Nexus 5 when Google stopped selling its 2013 flagship Android smartphone earlier this year, but it might be time to say hello to a revamped version. Rumors in May suggested that Google was working with partners Huawei and LG to produce two new Nexus phones — a 5.7-inch Huawei device, and a 5.2-inch model with the Korean manufacturer. Now, thanks to a leaked photo originally posted in the Nexus Indonesia Google+ community, we might have our first glimpse of the new Nexus 5 in the wild.

The image resembles renders of the rumored LG Nexus

The picture shows the back of a white Nexus device. At the base is a sticker featuring a small red circle that appears to be LG’s logo, suggesting this phone, if legitimate, is the LG device rather than the Huawei collaboration. At the top is a camera lens, and just underneath, a similarly sized circle that looks to be the rumored fingerprint scanner. The image closely resembles rend…………… continues on The Verge

Leaks of the upcoming Google Nexus 5 (2015) reveal that the gadget will come with a large display for a better mobile experience.

NDTV Gadgets reported that the leaked renders of the Nexus 5 shows a slim design for the phone with the volume control and power button placed on its right side.

“The bottom panel will house the 3.5mm audio jack and will also include the charging slot. The left panel of the handset is said to sport the SIM card slot,” the report said.

The renders also reportedly show that the Nexus 5 may come with a fingerprint scanner which is believed to be placed on the rear side of the phone, below the main camera.

New Nexus rumors claim that LG will make Google’s next smartphone
News from PhoneDog:

After creating the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 for Google, a new report claims that LG could challenge Samsung for the title of most prolific Nexus maker.

Chinese site eToday claims that Google engineers recently paid a visit to LG headquarters, research and development labs, and factories where things like optical image stabilization (OIS) and wireless charging modules are made. The reason for the visit from these Googlers? They were reportedly there as part of a project codenamed “N000,” which also goes by the working name “Nexus 7.” (Yes, they’d need a new name since we’ve already got two Nexus 7 tablets.)

LG and Google are tight, having worked on two Nexus phones, a Google Play edition tablet, and three Android Wear watches in the past. Because of that history, it’s certainly possible that Google could tap LG for another Nexus phone after giving the Life’s Good crew a year off. Google has shown that it’s…………… continues on PhoneDog

LG changed their mind, will launch the quirky LG AKA outside of South Korea …
News from Phandroid.com:

Originally designed exclusively for South Korea, LG has announced that they’ll soon be bringing their quirky AKA line to new markets, starting first in Hong Kong. The phones definitely have personality, something we never thought we’d say about a smartphone. Each LG AKA features a different character that peeks out from the top of their own accessories, showing off their own unique personas. There’s 4 characters total, which LG describes as:

  • Eggy (yellow) who falls frequently in love
  • Wooky (white) ever-so-impulsive
  • Soul (navy) music lover with a soft-heart
  • Yo-Yo (pink) who is always on a diet

It’s more than just cartoon eyes and cases, with the characters woven into the phone’s wallpapers, ringtones, and widgets. With soon to be global release of the device, LG has also added something they’re calling an “emotional UX element.” Essentially, users can further customize their AKA’s eyes with glasses or different eyebrows. They’ll even be including stickers and an “Art Toy” figurine which can be digitized by snapping a picture of it, then adding it to selfies or other photos taken by the phone.

LG smartphones have unique features such as the Knock Code, which allows users to lightly knock on their screens in user-defined patterns to unlock their smartphones. LG has also started using the latest version of Android, Android 5.0 Lollipop, in the devices that it manufactures.

LG smartphone sales surged 25% in 2014, thanks in part to the success of LG G3

LG G Flex 2 vs. iPhone 6 Plus
News from Gizmag:

LG’s second stab at a curved and flexible smartphone is a bit less experiment, a bit more flagship. Let’s see how the features and specs of the G Flex 2 compare to those of Apple’s flagship phablet, the iPhone 6 Plus.

Size

The two handsets have identical screen sizes, but the G Flex 2 makes more economical use of its face. It’s 6 percent shorter and 4 percent narrower than the iPhone 6 Plus.

The iPhone is technically 24 percent thinner, but those numbers are skewed a bit, as the G Flex 2 has a tapered back and the above depth only counts its thickest point (it slims down to 7.1 mm at its thinnest points, near the top and bottom edges).

Sprint Begins Selling The LG G3 Vigor Mid-Range Phone On September 19th
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

Those looking to get a taste of the LG G3 on Sprint’s network but don’t want or aren’t able to cough up the cost of what it takes to pick up the handset, will be able to grab a somewhat slimmed down version of the device starting this Friday. Sprint has announced that beginning on September 19th, they will be offering the LG G3 Vigor at a non contract price of $ 299, giving consumers a chance to have the style of the LG G3 without the price. That drop in cost of course also means a drop in specs, as the Vigor loses the 3GB of RAM and instead sports 1GB, and forfeits the QHD screen resolution for a 5-inch IPS display with 720p resolution.

Although it doesn’t have a complete focus on selfies, Sprint and LG mention that the LG G3 Vigor was designed with selfies in mind, touting a 1.3MP front facing camera that features a front facing a soft light that is supposed to make for brighter images thanks to the illuminated border that surrounds the display. In addition to this LG has added in the capability to activate the shutter using gestures. Although the rear facing camera isn’t quite up to par with the ori…………… continues on Android Headlines – Android News

Hands on: LG G3 Android smartphone

Friday, August 15th, 2014

Hands on: LG G3 Android smartphone
News from Sydney Morning Herald:

LG’s G3 5.5-inch smartphone sporting a Quad HD 2560×1440 IPS LED display.

Large and in charge, LG’s G3 ups the stakes in the Android screen wars.

By my calculations today marks the 1000th Gadgets on the Go post, with the blog kicking off back in 2007 as Apple’s first iPhone hit US shelves and Android was still on the drawing board. Smartphones have come a long way in a short time and triggered a personal tech revolution which belonged in the realm of science fiction only a few years ago.

LG’s 5.5-inch G3 smartphone continues to break new ground, pushing past the 5-inch barrier which would have seen it dubbed a phablet not so long ago. It follows on from last year’s 5.2-inch G2 and is pretty much the upgrade you’d expect – bumping up most items on the spec sheet while also updating to Android 4.4.2.

Since last year we’ve also seen the release of the 5.9-inch LG G Pro 2 and 6-inch

LG G3 US release date revealed, phone is enjoying massive success in Asia
News from Load The Game:

The highly regarded @Evleaks industry insider struck again yesterday, by tweeting about the LG G3′s pre-order and release date in the United States. It seems the first carrier to receive LG’s successor to the fantastic G2 will be Verizon, and the phone will be up for grabs on the 17th of July. We’ve been expecting the LG G3 to launch in the United States by the end of July, but this release date is actually surprisingly close, at least closer than many have been expecting. Pre-orders will begin on the 10th of July. At the moment, it’s unclear when exactly will the LG G3 arrive for those that pre-order, but it’s usually around 2 days prior to the regular launch.

This leak would suggest that other major US carriers will be getting the LG G3 at the end of July too, including Sprint and AT&T. We d…………… continues on Load The Game
