LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update could begin late January; here’s a quick video …
News from Phandroid.com:

With Samsung beginning to upgrade their devices to Android 4.4 KitKat and HTC expected to do the same at some point soon, those in the LG camp were probably beginning to wonder when the upgrade would come out to the LG G2.

Thankfully, LG Saudi Arabia has shed some much needed light on that timeline. Folks in that region are in line to get it starting at the end of this month, according to the company’s Twitter page (though the post has since been deleted). South Korean users have already gotten it, though they are often first in line for everything considering that’s LG’s home turf.

We imagine they won’t be the one and only region to be enjoying it, so it’s probably safe to assume LG will start rolling it out in other regions to unlocked handsets from that time. Nothing’s certain, though, so don’t put too much stock into that. You should note that LG only ever promised to…………… continues on Phandroid.com

LG G Pro Lite Review: Is It The Best Mid-Range Android Phone?
News from Gizmodo India:

LG G Pro Lite seems like a decent attempt by LG to provide a larger display device at an affordable price, although it is slightly downgraded on the hardware side, but still performs decent when it comes to day to day usage.

What is it?

A smartphone little bit bigger than regular 5 inchers that we have in the market. For the fact LG G Pro Lite sports a 5.5 inch display but comes with slightly lower screen resolution of 540 x 960 qHD with a pixel density of nearly 200 pixels per inch. On the hardware front, it comes powered with Dual Core 1 GHz processor based on Cortex A9 architecture, 1 GB of RAM, 8 MP AF Rear Camera, 1.3 MP Fixed focus front camera. There is 8 GB of built in memory and it can be expanded further to up to 32GB card through a microSD card. It’s backed by big 3140 mAh battery runs on 4.2.1 Jelly bean.

Who is it for?

For all those who need an affordable well known branded phablet to use, it should not cost them a bomb and it should come with decent hardware specifications.

Design

LG G Pro Lite looks good and but does not create any distinctive image in terms of the design. In terms of placement of touch capacitive buttons it follows the old layout which we have seen in some budgets android phones from LG in the past. It looks like any other plastic…………… continues on Gizmodo India

Having conversations with our mobile devices is going to become much more commonplace.

First on the built-in, voice-activated personal-assistant scene was Siri, currently found in the iPhone 4S and now destined for the latest iPad. Next came S Voice, a Siri rival (that we still can’t get to work correctly) on the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S III. Then on Wednesday, Microsoft announced that it’s working to build conversational voice technology into Windows Phone 8.

And now we have a fresh development from LG. Sometime in the next few weeks, the company’s Android phones will join the talking-gadget party too. LG is launching

LG India mobile biz sees sixth head in 6 years
News from Economic Times:

KOLKATA: LG Electronics India has appointed Sanjay Maheshwary as the business head of its mobile phone division, replacing Vishal Chopra who will join the leadership team for the company’s durables section.

The change of guard at the company’s handsets division is the sixth in as many years. LG India, which entered the handsets business in 2003, holds less than 2% market share.

The company spokesman declined comment on the appointment. This is Maheshwary’s second year in the company. He had moved from Nokia to LG India at the end of 2010 as marketing head of mobile phones division.

Chopra was a senior executive in the company’s electronics business before being appointed business head. A senior executive said, on condition of anonymity, that the handsets division’s poor performance has started weighing on the Korean company’s main electronics business in the country, pulling down overall revenue and profitability. LG India’s revenues in 2011 grew marginally to Rs 16,200 crore, against Rs 16,000 crore in the previous year and…………… continues on Economic Times

The LG Cloud aims to cater to the users for managing and consuming content on Android based smartphones, computers and Smart TVs. The Android based smartphone users will have to download the LG Cloud App from the Google Play or LG SmartWorld App Store.

Recently, it was reported that Samsung is set to launch its cloud computing centred service – S Cloud. This follows after Apple launched its iCloud service and Microsoft made its SkyDrive service official. While HTC had closely tied up with Dropbox, that left Samsung and LG to take a call.
