News from The Nation:

The Nation February 5, 2013 1:00 am

The operating profit increased significantly in 2012 to $ 1.01 billion, from $ 342.06 million in 2011, despite a 6-per-cent decline in revenue from 2011.

Smart TVs, 3D TVs, and smart phones are the flagship products of LG. The company plans to continue to aggressively market 3D and Smart TVs and aims to expand its share of the premium TV segment in 2013 with Ultra-HD TVs and OLED TVs. The company expects revenue and profitability to see growth in 2013 with more competitive products, advanced technologies and a stronger focus on profitable regions.

LG Home Entertainment Co reported record sales of 9.3 million units of flat-panel TVs in the fourth quarter, resulting in a 17.4-per-cent increase in revenue quarter on quarter to $ 5.91 billion and full year operating profit of $ 480.92 million.

LG reports profits in its Q3 earning from smart phones
News from The Droid Guy:

The company has said that it made a total profit of 157.1 billion won ($ 138.5 million) for the three months ended September 30. This is a huge recovery from the 413.9 billion won ($ 366 million) loss it faced in the same period, last year. “However, third-quarter revenue fell 4 percent to 12.38 trillion won ($ 10.93 billion) due to a decline in demand for feature phones,” CNET writes.

“LG’s mobile division recorded a third-quarter profit of 22 billion won ($ 19.4 million), compared with a 138.8 billion won ($ 125.8 million) loss a year earlier,” the online publication mentions. The profits have been credited to the demand for LTE based smart phones. In this quarter, the company has sold 14 million smart phones, which is supposed to be a 9 per cent increase compared to the last quarter. Optimus L series of

News from SlashGear:

What’s believed to be a promotional image of the LG Nexus 4 bearing Google’s Nexus branding has leaked, ahead of the smartphone’s expected launch next week. The image, courtesy of tipster evleaks, fits with previous leaked photos of the handset in the wild, though that last sighting didn’t include the bold “nexus” logo across the upper rear of the phone. Update: Not so fast! This might not be as legit as we hoped.

Still, that’s a last-minute addition we’d wager, and everything els…………… continues on SlashGear
