The picture gets a little bit clearer for two rumored Nexus smartphones today as reliable Twitter source @onleaks shares new unconfirmed details.

We’re getting to that point of the year where we look for new handsets from Google and its partners. Often released in conjunction with the latest Android OS, Google’s Nexus phone line is typically refreshed in the fall. Sold directly to consumers, these models are unlocked and typically priced lower than top phones from other vendors.

Unlike previous years, Google may tap two hardware makers for the next generation of Nexus smartphones. LG is expected to release a new take on 2013′s Nexus 5; Huawei is

Review: LG’s G Flex 2 makes me wish all big phones were curved – The Next Web
News from Review: LG’s G Flex 2 makes me wish all big phones were curved – The Next Web:

LG showed off its engineering muscles with the original G Flex, but didn’t quite succeed at showing us why the world needs a curved phone.

While we saw some boons to the curve, the unwieldly size, low resolution, middling software and disappointing camera meant it wasn’t the holistic tour-de-force it could have been. It was more marketing gimmick and cool tech demo than something you’d want to call your everyday phone.

A year and half later, enter the G Flex 2. Not to spoil the review, but it’s better in every way. It’s smaller, looks better and has a much better camera. Where the G Flex was an interesting tech demo, the G Flex 2 is just a good phone – one that may just stand up to the best of the Android contenders.

LG Looks to Avoid Apple’s Shadow, Dribbles Out News of G4 Flagship Phone
News from Re/code:

Let’s face it, no matter how good LG’s upcoming G4 is, it is going to have trouble getting noticed in a market dominated by Apple and Samsung.

Making matters worse is that both Samsung and HTC have already launched this year’s flagship models with the Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 both hitting the U.S. market this month.

So props to LG for trying an approach different from the big-bang rollout favored by its larger rivals. Instead, LG is employing one of its favorite methods: Tease your own launch with nuggets of news.

While the official G4 announcement isn’t planned until April 28, LG has already had separate releases touting the 5.5-inch screen that will be on the device and changes the company is making to its software interface. LG also announced a program to give 4,000 consumers a month-long test drive of the new phone.

That’s in addition to teaser videos and other attempts at buzz generation.

LG G Flex 2

Before 2014 ended, LG announced an Android-powered smartphone with a unique feature – animated eyes.

Since its initial launch, the LG AKA has only been available in South Korea. However, it seems LG is looking to make a big splash in the international market as well.

According to a report by Phone Arena, the Android handset will soon become available in the international market. Some countries that will be getting the device in a few weeks include Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Turkey.

While the LG AKA may look like an ordinary phone, it transforms instantly when placed on a specially designed phone case. Its main selling point is the animated eyes that appear and “interact” with the consumers.

Some of the things that the “eyes” react on include incoming calls, appointments or meetings, and messages.

For interested buyers, the LG AKA is strictly a midranger, if not an entry-level device. It boasts a 5-inch display with HD or 1280 x 720 resolution, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz and a 1.5GB RAM.

Other specs include an 8MP primary shooter at the back and a 2M…………… continues on Christian Post

LG is making the next Nexus phone, apparently
News from Stuff Magazine:

Google’s yearly Nexus smartphone is the flagbearer for the entire Android camp. It’s the first device to land with the latest and greatest version of Google’s mobile OS, and it’s the number one choice for purists.

You could argue that the Nexus 6, with its gargantuan screen and un-Nexus-like price tag has dropped the ball a bit, which is why Google could be going back to LG for its next-gen Android poster child.

The latest whispers from the online rumour mill, courtesy of Korean site eToday, report that Google’s engineers recently visited LG’s headquarters in South Korea to discuss the production of a mystery device known as the N000.

That, apparently, is the codename for the next Nexus, which would be called the Nexus 7 following the current naming scene. Which, as you probably know, is the name of an existing Google tablet. Of course, the triple zeroes could hint at a fresh name, one void of a numbering system altogether. Or not. Who knows! Anything goes in rumour land.

If the whispers do prove to be true, then this will be th…………… continues on Stuff Magazine

4 brand new Android phones you might want this year instead of the Galaxy S6
News from BGR:

The Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 may have stolen the show at MWC 2015, especially the Galaxy S6 edge version, but that doesn’t mean all smartphone buyers currently considering a new Android handset will go for a high-end device. Nor should they, since the S6 is ridiculously expensive and there will be plenty of cheaper Android devices launching soon, running Android 5.0 Lollipop right out of the box.

In what follows, we’ll be ta…………… continues on BGR

Is this our first look at the LG G4?
News from Phandroid.com:

Talk about the LG G4 at AndroidForums.com!

Every company falls victim to a leak or two ahead of their flagship devices’ official unveiling, and LG is no different. The LG G4 has escaped our grasps for far too long, but we might have just gotten our first look at the thing.

Surprise, surprise: it looks like almost every LG flagship device we’ve seen the past couple of years, rear button placement and all. The leak was provided by @onleaks, which is manned by one of the editors from credible French technology blog NowhereElse.Fr.

We’d say that’s pretty good reason to believe this leak will hold up, but if the HTC One M9 debacle taught us anything it’s that no one truly knows anything until the official goods are delivered. It’s…………… continues on Phandroid.com

Galaxy S6, HTC One M9, and LG G Flex 2: MWC’s Flagship Phones

Galaxy S6, HTC One M9, and LG G Flex 2: MWC’s Flagship Phones
News from PC Magazine:

At Mobile World Congress this week, I’ve had the chance to spend a little time the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, the HTC One M9, and the LG G Flex 2 – the three currently phones vying to be the top of the Android phone market.

The Samsung and HTC phones were announced at the show, and while the LG one was announced at CES, it hasn’t shipped yet. All three are being marketed as “flagship” phones – the ones with the best screens, processors, build quality – and of course, the highest price tags. And while we’re seeing three great phones, each with its own great characteristics, together they prove the adage that you can’t please everyone: each has its own strengths and weaknesses.

The Galaxy S6 has received a lot of attention for the big change in design from the previous Galaxy S5, swapping out the pla…………… continues on PC Magazine

LG preps ‘radically different’ G4 and a whole new flagship line
News from TechRadar:

LG has been showing off a few phones at MWC this year, but the top-end LG G4 hasn’t been spotted. According to the company’s mobile chief Cho Juno, the handset is going to be “radically different” to anything that’s come before – both inside and outside.

The Korea Times reports a MWC interview with Juno in which he describes a phone that’s a leap forward from the G3. It will feature a metal rather than polycarbonate casing, a major overhaul of its software design, and an improved user experience to boot.

“We will announce LG UX 4.0 before announcing the LG G4,” Cho told reporters. “I think it is simply the best and the issue is how to best fit the new UX system into the G4 smartphone.”

We’re expecting to see the LG G4 at some point over the next couple of months.

LG Debuts 4 New Phones and a Fancy Smartwatch
News from Wired:

The LG Watch Urbane. We’ve seen it before, but LG has now announced the availability of an LTE variant that doesn’t run Android Wear, but does make calls without a tethered phone. LG

BARCELONA, SPAIN—Today at the Mobile World Congress trade show, LG debuted its latest range of devices, including two wearables and a small fleet of Android smartphones.

Previously announced two weeks ago, the Watch Urbane is an elegant Android Wear smartwatch made with gold- and silver-coated metal. It also comes with a leather replaceable strap that can be replaced with any 22mm-wide band. The Watch Urbane is LG’s third entry into the Android Wear category. In fact, even though it’s designed to look like an everyday luxury timepiece, it has a lot in common with company’s much more sporty G Watch R. Both of them feature a circular, 1.3-inch P-OLED display with 320×320 pixels resolution and 349 pixel density. Both cases house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 4GB of eMMC storage and 512MB of RAM. Even the battery life is the same: two full-days, thanks to the 410 mAh Li-Ion cell. Further technical details include dust and water IP67 certification, 9-axis sensors, barometer…………… continues on Wired

Selfie wars: LG takes on rivals with new phones

Selfie wars: LG takes on rivals with new phones
News from CNBC:

In the global smartphone market, selfie wars are heating up.

Korean electronics giant LG has unveiled a range of mid-tier smartphones designed with “high quality selfies in mind,” as device makers battle for camera superiority.

The four devices – named Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy – are curved with screen sizes ranging from 4 inches on the Joy model, to 5 inches on the Magna.

But LG, like others over the past year, is pushing one of the phones’ features in particular: the ability to take selfies.

The Magna handset has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies, and all of the devices have a feature enabling users to take pictures with a simple hand gesture. LG said it had extended the distance at which the camera can recognize the gestures to 1.5 meters, meaning users could attach a “selfie stick” and trigger the camera from further away.

Analysts said that over the past year, the front-facing camera has become an increasingly important differentiator for smartphone makers, but it is becoming tough to stand out from the crowd.

“We have seen a big jump in megapixels and quality on this camera and it is one way that device makers are looking to differentiate their products,” Ian Fogg, head of mobile at IHS, told CNBC by phone.

“But pretty much every handset maker has front-facing cameras designed f…………… continues on CNBC

LG announces 4 new phones ahead of Mobile World Congress, the G4 isn’t one …
News from PC Pro:

LG may well be unleasing its new flagship smartphone, the LG G4, at Mobile World Congress, but ahead of the March show it’s announced that it’ll be launching four new mid-range smartphones.

Known as the Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy, LG’s new smartphones build on “LG’s design language to bring optimised performance and effortless user experience to a broader range of consumers,” says an LG press release. PR-speak aside, this means these four new phones, available in both 4G and 3G versions, will be built to premium specifications, but offered at affordable prices.

The Magna features a 5in HD display with 294ppi, a 1.2GHz Quad-core processor, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB of internal storage, and 1GB of RAM. It comes with a 2,540mAh removable battery, placing it in a similar range to the upcoming Samsung S6 in terms of capacity. LG may have inadvertently confirmed its upcoming flagship phone the LG G4, as well as five other future phones, while more rumors about the handset are making its way online.

The LG G3 was released in May 2014 and was positively received in the smartphone market alongside heavyweights such as the Galaxy S5 and the iPhone 6. This time LG is reportedly stepping it up with its upcoming LG G4, as well as around six years’ worth of flagship phones.

Reports have come in that the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted the South Korean company the rights to trademark the LG G3, LG G4, LG G5, LG G6, LG G7, LG G8 and LG G9.

So far LG has kept mum with the successor to the LG G3, but now it seemed it really is coming, as well as five more flagship phones in the future for that matter.

LG was already said to be passing on a reveal of the LG G4 during the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Spain in March, and rumors are instead pointing to a reveal sometime in the second quarter of the year. The delay was allegedly to spend more time optimizing the device instead of releasing it immediately.

As for the specs of the LG G4, rumors are pointing to…………… continues on Christian Post

LG’s New G Flex 2 Bends In All The Right Places
News from TechCrunch:

LG is about to announce its latest flagship smartphone, the G Flex 2. It bends! That’s the big news.

But don’t get too excited. The new bendy LG phone is more of an assurance that the G Flex 2 is durable. Yet, the bend itself doesn’t promise added functionality of any sort. However, durability is clearly a focal point. However you bend the phone, LG promises that the phone will bend back to its original curvy shape.

Alongside the bendiness, the G Flex 2 is also coated with the same special plastic polymer we saw on the original G Flex, which is resistant-ish to scratches and self-heals. This time, it doesn’t take minutes to remove scratches, it only takes seconds. Overall, the phone looks a lot like the recently released LG G3, but with a banana shape.

The new phone has a 403ppi 5.5-inch OLED display (same size as the iPhone 6 Plus) with a 13-megapixel dual-flash rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front shooter. Under the hood, the specs are the best of the best, with a 64-bit 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and 2GB of DDR4 RAM under the hood, with support for 300Mbps LTE.

It comes with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, with options to expand through a MicroSD phone. You’ll also find a 3,000mAh battery under there.

All in all, it’s yet another LG phone.
