Case Manufacturer Posts LG G3 Renders Over the Weekend, Try to Contain …
News from Droid Life:

Over the weekend, purported “official” renders of the LG G3 popped up, watermarks began flying around, and the internet couldn’t contain itself over what it thought was a massive leak. I hate to break it to you, but the renders are from a case manufacturer who is promoting its LG G3 cases on Amazon early. That’s not say that these renders don’t tell us something, just keep in mind that these are by no means official.

Case manufacturer, Ringke (a favorite of ours for their slim cases), posted up new LG G3 products of theirs that will be in stock around June 30. The cases show the shape of the LG G3 with both white and black shells around white and black versions of the device. The camera, volume/power button combo, IR blaster, dual-LED, and speaker grill on the back all match up in placement to previous leaks.

On the front, we are seeing a blank, black screen that looks big, edge-to-edge, and with minimal bezel in the chin and top areas. We are also seeing what appears to be a cutout for either a TV antenna or P…………… continues on Droid Life

LG L90 Dual review: There is more to this phone than the knocking on heaven’s …
News from Indian Express:

The LG L90 is priced at Rs 17,499

Summary

The L90 is powered by the latest Android OS, the 4.4 KitKat and is in perfect synch with the phone’s hardware

The knock code has for long been used by prisoners to communicate with each other by producing a series of tap sounds. Alphabets, with the exception of K, are visualised in a 5×5 grid, and each letter is represented by two taps. The first tap signifies the row and the second tap tells the column in which the letter is in the grid. Prison authorities couldn’t decipher the code due to the incessant chatter of prisoners using prison walls, bars etc to tap coded messages. When held in isolation this was perhaps the only way that a prisoner could talk to other inmates.

Decades later, Korean electronics giant LG has patented the Knock Code and introduced a striped down version of it in its new entrant to the L Series Collection, the L90. LG in its press release claimed it to be the “most secure pattern unlocking mechanism”. And we put that to the test.

A user can preset a tap sequence on a 2×2 grid and use it to unlock the screensaver. One would presume, the more the number of taps, the more secure the phone is. For all practical purposes we set a 10-tap unlock sequence. Barring a few minor hiccups — human error — the phone picks the sequence and unlocks without delay. You wi…………… continues on Indian Express

KitKat for the Verizon LG G2 now rolling out over the air
News from Phandroid.com:

After reporting yesterday that the KitKat update for the Verizon Wireless LG G2 was finally ready — but only accessible via LG’s installer for Windows PCs — that same update is now officially available and rolling out over the air. If you haven’t been prompted (and don’t feel like hassling with plugging in/installing extra software), you can now jump into your Settings > About phone > Software update > Check new > to pull the update on your G2 manually.

Having rolled out for all other major US carriers), Verizon’s LG G2 finally joins its brothers and sisters in the winners circle. Aside from bringing all the usual KitKat…………… continues on Phandroid.com

LG G3 Mini leaked in documentation
News from Phones Review:

Leaks about the upcoming flagship LG G3 have been abundant just lately, and if you’re wondering this will come in a mini version then you might just be in luck. A handset with model number LG D725 has been spotted in a leaked document, and it’s thought that this is the LG G3 Mini.

It does seem rather early for an LG G3 Mini to be touted as the LG G2 Mini has only just arrived on the scene. However, we do see a lot of devices leak out in this way so of course this could be the real deal. The LG G3 Mini is codenamed the B2 mini, with the LG G3 being codenamed the B2, and the new leaked documentation shows the B2 Mini as model LG D725 and gives up a few specs.

If we’re to believe this evidence the LG G3 has a 720p display (size unknown), and an 8-megapixel camera with stills shots of up to 3264 x 2248 pixel resolution. It will be running Android 4.4.2 KitKat skinned with the Optimus UI. The leak shows a version for AT&T, but we’d anticipate a release on all of the major US carriers as the LG G3 is expected to.

There’s no news yet on a possible release date for the LG G3 Mini, although the LG G3 is rumored to be on the way to a July

Orphanage probe: HC pulls up L-G for okay over phone

Orphanage probe: HC pulls up L-G for okay over phone
News from Indian Express:

Censuring the Delhi Lieutenant-Governor for “telephonically” approving a decision to set up an inquiry commission to look into the affairs of Arya Orphanage and other institutions following reports of alleged cases of sexual abuse, the Delhi High Court on Monday remarked the L-G must realise “he is not just a figurative head who would ceremoniously attend parties” and should have “applied his mind” on the basis of the relevant material.

The court questioned if the facts with respect to the “number of hours the L-G worked in his office and the time he spent socialising in public” could be brought out in public.

A bench headed by Justice Pradeep Nandarajog tore into the “decision-making process” adopted by L-G Tejinder Khanna while granting his approval to initiate inquiry against five institutions, two of which approached the court saying they had distinct identities and were unrelated to Arya Orphanage and two other children’s homes running from its Daryaganj complex.

As per a note adduced in the High Court by government counsel S D Salwan, the L-G wrote that he had given his approval on the basis of his telephonic conversation with the Chief Secretary.

The bench, which had asked the counsel to put before them all material on the basis of which the L-G had signed the notification, was miffed with this disclosure. “What is meant by the fact t…………… continues on Indian Express
