Counterclockwise: Nexus One, LG Optimus 2X, LTE
News from GSMArena.com:

You’d think that tech companies are busy marketing their existing products for a final holiday buying spree, but it turns out some defining moments in mobile history happened around this time of year. This edition of Counterclockwise recounts several of these occasions – the gossipy birth of the Nexus line, jumping to a next-generation cellular tech and bringing high-quality video to people’s pockets.

Nexus of power

Google started Android as a software platform, but before 2009 had come to an end there were strong suggestions that Google will turn to hardware and produce its own phone. Not a simple developer version like the ones the search giant gave its employees and attendees to Google I/O. Instead it would be a proper, Google-branded phone.

The new phone – to be named Google Nexus One – would come with a new business model too. It was to be sold with no subsidies (uncommon in the US at the time) and it will be sold from Google and select retailers.

LG G3 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 4
News from The Inquisitr:

Two examples in the Android family that are in direct competition are the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Holding the advantage in the past, Samsung has made further improvements to its latest version of the Note, but LG has packed the LG G3 with features that make it a worthy rival.

Mobile phone screens are becoming bigger every year, and some of them are almost like mini tablets. In fact, a lot of the newer phones being released are referred to as “phablets.” That’s a cross between a phone and a tablet, according to tablet experts School Tech Hub. The Note 4 has a slightly larger face, with a 5.7 inch screen that’s just 2/10 of an inch larger than the LG G3. The G3 counteracts this discrepancy by supplying a sharper resolution of 538 pixels per inch, the sharpest of any major competitor, over the Note 4’s 51…………… continues on The Inquisitr

2nd Nexus 5 or Optimus G Pro 2? LG Device Codenamed LG-D830 with 16MP …
News from International Business Times AU:

From Phone Arena, the LG-D830 was detected courtesy of a benchmark test result with the gadget registering top numbers in browser performance. The same report hinted too of a 1080p display resolution or mirroring the same screen prowess that was seen in the Nexus 5.

What makes it a Nexus 5 second build candidate? CNET noted in a report that LG-D830 is sequentially related to LF-D820, which of course is the LG-assembled Nexus 5. However, the tech site allowed that it could be an entirely different animal, likely of the high-end breed.

Cross referencing the D830 to the LG G2, which carries the model number LG-D802, keen LG watchers could arrived to the conclusion that it is the second coming of the mildly successful Optimus G Pro.

For the 2014 edition, the chatters suggest that LG will dub the D830 as the G Pro 2. Among its so-called power specs and features is an awesome…………… continues on International Business Times AU

LG unveils its largest smartphone yet, the 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro
News from Los Angeles Times:

LG’s Optimus G Pro, a massive smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen, will reportedly make its way to North America as early as this spring.

The Optimus G Pro, which has the largest display LG has ever put on a phone, will feature a full HD 1080p resolution. The screen will have a 400-pixels-per-inch density, which is among the highest available on smartphones these days.

The phone will also feature an unusual “duel recording” mode for its cameras, which will have some of the highest resolution sensors to come on a smartphone. The rear camera features a 13-megapixel sensor while the front has 2.1-megapixel resolution.

Both shoot videos in full 1080p HD, and when “dual recording” is activated, users can record using both cameras at the same time. LG says this creates “a unique picture-in-picture experience.”

The upcoming LG phone runs on Android Jelly Bean and uses 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor. The phone has 32-gigabytes of storage that can be doubled using a microSD card.

LG’s newest MWC teaser hints at third Optimus Vu phone and F-series (video)
News from Android Authority:

MWC is rapidly closing in on us and, with Samsung and HTC nearly confirmed as taking the event quite lightly, we need another “hero” to step in and capture the Barcelona spotlight. Could that someone else be LG?

Based on the company’s crafty recent marketing campaign, we’re inclined to say yes. Even if the first three phones confirmed to be on display in Catalonia, the Optimus L3 II, L5 II and L7 II, are far from special.

And that’s because the latest LG teaser, consisting of a short 45-second YouTube video clip, is even more intriguing than the first two. The focus is on four letters of the alphabet, each symbolizing…………… continues on Android Authority

LG’s 5.5″ Optimus G Pro is Coming to the US
News from IGN:

Just in the nick of time for a grand debut at Mobile World Congress next week, LG announced this morning that the successor to their hit Optimus G — the Optimus G Pro — will roll out to North America sometime during Q2. With more than a million Optimus G phones sold since its debut in September of 2012, LG has already promised users that many beloved features (and a few new ones) will be available once the Optimus G Pro hits stores sometime in spring.

Riding the wave of the big smartphone trend this year, the Optimus G Pro boasts a 5.5-inch display, jacked up more than half an inch than its forebear in the screen real estate department and claiming the title…………… continues on IGN

LG Optimus G Pro vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2, phablet battle
News from Phones Review:

The birth of the phablet device back in 2011 has seen a growing craze for larger screen smartphones that offer consumers the perfect device, and can often do away with the need of carrying around both a tablet and a smartphone at the same time. Today we are looking at the new kid on the block the LG Optimus G Pro against the current market leader, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Since its release in the second half of last year the Galaxy Note 2 has gained a good reputation from reviewers and owners alike, and rightly so as the device has some great features packed into its shell. Now though there is another new handset due to be released in the coming few weeks in the shape of the LG Optimus G Pro, which gives consumers another phablet to choose from.

Display
The Galaxy Note 2 has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display with 1280 x 720 resolution and 267ppi, while the upcoming Optimus G Pro has a 5.5-inch True HD-IPS + LCD capacitive touchscreen display at 1080 x 1920 resolution and 401ppi.

LG Optimus G Pro is official: 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display, and …
News from Phandroid.com:

The LG Optimus G Pro hasn’t been much of a secret since it was announced for Japan a few weeks ago. Tonight, LG has finally taken the wraps off the device for its homeland of South Korea, unveiling the device unto the world for a likely debut at Mobile World Congress. Pretty much everything here is what we’ve already known of the device: 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 3140mAh battery, 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor and 13MP camera.

But this isn’t simply a rehash of the Japanese version we saw a short time ago. This version not only comes with a larger display (5.5-inches vs Japan’s 5-inch), but aesthetic differences as well. You’ll now notice LG’s now trademark “glitter” pattern along the back of the device ala the Nexus 4/Optimus G, and a curved glass display, giving the phone — what LG is calling — a “2.5D” effect. Sounds a lot like the curved glass on the Nexus 4 which makes us wonder… could a Nexus 5 be in the works from LG? I know, just thinking out loud.

No word on when we can expect this anywhere outside of South Korea, but like the LG Optimus G (sans Pro), expect it in the near…………… continues on Phandroid.com

LG Officially Unveils Optimus G Pro, 5.5″ Curved Glass Display Gives Off “2 …
News from Droid Life:

Just now, LG went ahead and announced the Optimus G Pro for markets other than Japan. Much like the Japanese variant, this device sports a full 5.5″ HD 1080p display, along with a quad-core processor. The device will come in both black and white, while incorporating a curved glass design, giving the phone a 2.5D effect.

While taking a quick glimpse at the backside of the device, you will notice a glimmering “Digital Cube” effect. Although, overall design wise, this phone looks like a mix of the Galaxy S3′s front and the One X’s back. Looks pretty nice if you ask us.

As far as when we can expect it to hit the States, there is no word from LG. What we do kno…………… continues on Droid Life

LG announces the launch of its new Optimus L Series 2 phones
News from Digital Trends:

At this year’s Mobile World Congress—an annual expose of the latest innovations in the mobile world that will take place later this month—LG announced that it will showcase its new Optimus L Series II, a line of phones they say continue the company’s tradition of sleek design and cutting edge innovation. The phone designs will stay true to the original Optimus L Series, but with noticeable improvements.

The company said that that the four major new design elements it focused on with this series are “seamless layout, laser cut contour, radiant rear design, and smart LED lighting on the home button.”

Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said of the new line: “LG has a history of pushing the envelope when it comes to style and Optimus L Series 2 builds on this heritage of design innovation. By evolving the sophisticated style and premium features of the original Optimu…………… continues on Digital Trends

LG debuts Optimus G Pro ahead of Mobile World Congress

LG debuts Optimus G Pro ahead of Mobile World Congress
News from CNET Australia:

LG, seemingly unable to keep a secret, has teased a 5.5-inch version of the Optimus G Pro.

(Credit: LG)

Presumably arriving in late February at Mobile World Congress (MWC), the handset aims to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

A teaser image posted on an LG Facebook page provides an early glimpse of the larger, yet familiar, design. Although the official details for the 5.5-inch handset are light, early rumours suggest that a quad-core 1.7GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera are in order. For all practical purposes, the new phone looks to be a larger take on the model headed to Japan this year.

As the fourth LG phone outed this week, the LG Optimus G Pro will find a home in South Korea in the coming weeks. It is unclear what other markets might offer the new smartphone. We hope to learn the full details of the new line of Optimus handsets at Mobile World Congress later this month.

LG Nexus 4 vs HTC M7 (HTC One) in irresistible comparison
News from Phones Review:

One of the most-talked about smartphones at the moment is the LG Nexus 4, offering Google’s pure vanilla Android. Despite the fact that it has been difficult to get hold of since its release late last year, that hasn’t been enough to put people off waiting for it and demand continues to be high. Will that demand be so high though when the HTC M7 comes out, rumored for release later this month? We’re taking a comparison look at the LG Nexus 4 vs. HTC M7 (HTC One), two pretty irresistible devices.

If you’re wondering why we have put HTC One in brackets it’s because this phone has also been recently rumored to be launching with the HTC One name instead of the M7, causing a certain amount of confusion. For the rest of this article and for consistency we’ll refer to it as the HTC M7 though.

The Nexus 4 is thought to have sold around

LG Optimus G Pro market expanded, more please

LG Optimus G Pro market expanded, more please
News from Phones Review:

The LG Optimus G Pro has impressed us with notable specs and a decent design and although we recently told how it was heading for a release in Japan on NTT DoCoMo, we have also hoped that it will launch in other regions too. We now have good news that the LG Optimus G Pro market has been expanded as it is also being released in Korea. We’d very much like to see it in more regions please and wonder if you want it to hit the shelves where you are?

We think there are plenty of people who’d like to see the sale of the Optimus G Pro in their region and news that it is to release in Korea is promising. It will be available on all of the major South Korean carriers as slightly different variants over the next few months. For SK Telecom it’s model number LG F240S, for KT it’s LG F240K and for LG U+ it’s LG 240L.

This Android smartphone could be a big hit for LG if they release it more widely, especially if it is competitively priced. The Optimus G Pro specs include a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad…………… continues on Phones Review

LG Optimus G Pro 5-inch phone is real, Optimus G UK-bound
News from CNET UK:

LG’s rumoured 5-inch monster smart phone has been made official. The LG Optimus G Pro (rolls off the tongue and into the heart) is a 1080p palm-wrecker powered by a mighty 1.7GHz quad-core processor.

The existence of the mammoth mobile was confirmed by Japanese network NTT Docomo, with an April release date for our pals in Japan. Discerning details through the fog of Google translate is tricky, but Japanese site Ktai Watch has a little more information.

There’s currently no word on a worldwide release, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see this gigantic phone rocking up in Europe, especially as LG has confirmed the 4.7-inch LG Optimu…………… continues on CNET UK
