Unannounced KitKat-running LG handsets spotted online: LG-D830, LS740 and …
News from Android Authority:

LG may soon launch a variety of new Android devices that will run KitKat out of the box without necessarily being flagship handsets.

Until KitKat, we expected new low- to mid-range Android devices that would be unveiled in the months following Google’s release of the latest Android OS available not to run that OS. But Android 4.4 changes everything in that regard, as it’s supposed to work on devices with at least 512MB of RAM. That not only means that much older Android devices could be updated to KitKat, at least in theory, but that upcoming budget handsets should also run KitKat without issues.

Phone Arena reports that several unannounced LG Android handsets were spotted over at HTML5Test, and they all appear to run Android 4.4 KitKat. The list includes several model numbers that aren’t associated with any of the existing LG handsets, including, LG-D830 (screenshot above,) LS740 (screenshot below,) LG-D410, LG-D320, and LG-MS323.

The LG-D830 has been spotted online in late November, and its model number is sort…………… continues on Android Authority

KT Sells Debt Backed by Phone Bills as Smartphone Sales Rise
News from Bloomberg:

KT Corp. (030200), South Korea’s second- largest mobile phone operator, sold 443 billion won ($ 376 million) of bonds backed by phone bills this month as smartphone demand bolsters sales.

The sale follows the carrier’s first-ever offering of asset-backed securities, or ABS, worth 510 billion won in April, Chi Seung Hoon, a director for financing at KT, said in a phone interview on May 25. The Seongnam, South Korea-based company may sell more of the notes this year, he said.

The carrier joins South Korea’s two other mobile-phone carriers in selling ABS to capitalize on an increasing number of smartphone subscribers who pay the operators for their devices in monthly installments. SK Telecom Co. and LG U…………… continues on Bloomberg

LG Spectrum 4G now just $ 79.99 at online retailer
News from Technology Bloom News:

If you happen to have Verizon for your wireless provider of choice and at the same time do a lot of travelling overseas, your Verizon-issued handset would definitely be useless when in a different country. However, with the addition of the LG Spectrum 4G to the lineup of the carrier, that is about to change. You see, the LG Spectrum 4G is considered as the first global-ready world phone being offered by Verizon so if you have one of these babies, you no longer have to contend with the problem of finding a mobile phone in whatever country or territory you end up on.

However, if the $ 199.99 price point of the LG Spectrum 4G when you get it directly from the carrier somehow puts you off, then you would certainly want to consider the current deal that Amazon Wireless has for the handset. Currently, the wireless arm of retail giant Amazon is offering the LG Spectrum 4G from Verizon for an unbelievable low price of $ 79.99. You would need to sig…………… continues on Technology Bloom News

Tech Talk Review: LG Spectrum
News from KWCH:

(WICHITA, Kan.)—

The LG Spectrum has a lot of things going for it, but a few things going against it. It’s a sleek, cool looking phone and has all the cool features you probably are now expecting from an Android enabled device. But the things holding it back keep me from smiling wildly.

The phone has a very nice 4.5 inch HD quality screen and illuminating home buttons on the bottom. The default lay-out of the home screens were a pleasant surprise over other phones I’ve tested. With one screen dedicated strictly to media stored on it and others for weather and other widgets.

The phone I tested runs on the Verizon network, and usually Verizon has terrific call quality. But people I called complained about hearing background noise and sometimes were having trouble hearing me.

The phone ships with Android’s Gingerbread OS. This puzzled me because Ice Cream Sandwich is now available on quite a few phones. Even though the phone is supposed to compatible for an upgrade, not every Android…………… continues on KWCH
