Metallic Nexus 2015 Phone On Release Date Hinted By Alleged LG G4 Note …
News from International Business Times AU:

If Google plans to go metal for its Nexus 2015 smartphone then the base-model for the device is likely the phablet LG G4 Note. Reports from South Korea indicate that the supersized phone will be wrapped in metal.

According to G4Games, pointing to Korean-language ZDNet Korea as source, LG flagships will flash premium build and designs starting on the second half of 2015. But as the upcoming LG G4 is scheduled to touchdown anytime starting April this year, the device clad in metal is essentially ruled out.

So the best candidate to become the repurposed Nexus 2015 phone, replacing the Motorola Nexus 6, is the rumoured LG phablet that for now goes by the name LG G4 Note. That is if Google will indeed renew its partnership with the South Korean firm for this year’s Nexus smartphone project.

Earlier, reports came out that Google engineers have visited manufacturing facilities owned by LG, sparking assumptions that the next Nexus will again come from the Nexus 4 and 5 maker. Prior to this suggestion, the Internet search giant was reportedly looking on the possibility of collaborating with Huawei for a China-centric Nexus device.

HTC, Motorola, and LG offer competitive alternatives to the iPhone 5 and …
News from ZDNet:

Summary: While the Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S III dominate across the carriers, there are competitive models specific to carriers from HTC, Motorola, and LG to consider.

I wrote a post a couple weeks ago stating that there were two main choices for a smartphone today, the Apple iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S III and wanted to follow that up with a bit of clarification and some more phone choices to consider. One of my primary reasons for making the statement I did was that those two phones are available on nearly every major carrier so I was giving a broad recommendation. I understand that HTC, Motorola, LG, and others make very good phones on individual carriers and thus this post attempts to highlight a few of those choices, check out the image gallery, if neither the iPhone 5 or Galaxy S III are not what you are looking for at this time.

Check out my image gallery of some great HTC, Motorola, and LG smartphones to consider.

Hands-on: LG Optimus G and the Quad-core S4 Pro Chip
News from Tom’s Hardware Guide:

We check out LG’s next flagship device.

In late August, we reported that the LG Optimus G would be the first device to pack Qualcomm’s new quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro, the fastest ARM processor right now for high-end LTE smartphones and tablets.

LG gave us some hands-on time with its upcoming flagship device, the Optimus G, which will pack the new processor along with equally impressive phone hardware.

“The Optimus G will be the first commercial and global smartphone to offer the Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064) processor with a Quad-Core Krait CPU, LTE supported capabilities, and the newest generation Adreno 320 GPU,” LG said. “The Snapdragon S4 Pro runs at 1.5 GHz and features Asynchronous Symmetric Multiprocessing (aSMP), which enables each core to power up and down independently, for maximum performance with better battery life.”

One interesting customization with the new processor is an E…………… continues on Tom’s Hardware Guide

Motorola joins LG and Samsung to offer phones with VMware hypervisor

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

Motorola joins LG and Samsung to offer phones with VMware hypervisor
News from Techworld.com:

Motorola Mobility has joined LG and Samsung among the companies building VMware’s hypervisor into their phones. The move is part of a larger push at Motorola to cater to business users.

VMware’s mobile hypervisor works on Android phones and lets users switch between an “open” portion of the phone, which they can use for personal functions, and a business side that’s controlled by IT and protected from potentially malicious applications.

Motorola didn’t share many details about its plans, such as which models will get the hypervisor and when, but it appears VMware may be planning to formally announce the partnership soon. A VMware spokeswoman said the company expected to announce other OEMs, besides LG and Samsung, “in the coming months.” Those phone makers have pledged to build VMware’s technology into all their phone models.

There are some downsides to the “dual-persona” approach to mobile virtualisation, said an executive from Motorola. “The thing I haven’t seen yet is a user experience consumers could embrace,” said Christy Wyatt, vice president of enterprise at Motorola Mobility.

Consumers are constantly switching among apps on their phones. But to go from Facebook, for instance, on the personal side of the phone, to an email application on the business side, the user must sign into the busines…………… continues on Techworld.com

ZTE “Optimus Barcelona” is certifiably baffling
News from Android Community:

You’ve read these stories before: a previously unknown Android phone has been revealed from its certification listings. This time it’s both the WiFi and Bluetooth certification authorities, and the company asking for its papers is Chinese manufacturer ZTE. There’s just one puzzling thing about this phone: it’s been given the official moniker “ZTE Optimus Barcelona”. Say what?

If you’re wondering why that’s puzzling, let us break it down for you: “Optimus” is the family name given to pretty much every single Android device from LG, one of ZTE’s rivals form South Korea. Every Android-powered phone we’ve seen from LG, with the notable exception of those devices produced in partnership with PRADA, have used “Optimus” somewhere in the title. They appear to be big fans of the Autobots over at LG.

To say that LG would have a problem with ZTE producing a phone with Optimus in the name would be an understatement. It would be the same story for anyone but Samsung making a phone or tablet with “Galaxy” in the name, or anyone but Apple starting a product with the letter “i”. (Or making a tablet that’s vaguely rectangular……………. continues on Android Community

LG Electronics’ market share stood at 17.55 percent over the same period after it shifted 2.2 million units.
