Best Android Phones of 2014: LG G2, Nexus 5, Galaxy S4, HTC One, and Moto …

There are a lot of brands for Android phone users to choose from and each one is seemingly better than the other. Here we compare five leading Android phones, LG G2, Nexus 5, Galaxy S4, HTC One and Moto X in terms of processing power, screen resolution and camera quality.

Processing Power

In this aspect, almost all of the models are at the same level as they have really strong processing power. However, Nexus 5 and LG G2 have the upper hand as they make use of the Snapdragon 800 processors. They are slightly better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 used for both the HTC One and Galaxy S4. LG G2 is deemed to be the fastest device and is more or less the winner in this factor. Moto X on the other hand is quite a unique choice since it has a different approach. It makes use of an X8 chipset with Snapdragon S4 Pro inside. There are certain dedicated processors for various controls.

Google Nexus 6 Confirmed as ‘Lightweight’ LG G3 on July 2014 Release Date …
News from International Business Times AU:

Phone Arena reported this week that Google’s vanilla Android smartphone for this year will bear the LG logo on launch date. The new development, if true, douses cold water on speculations that surfaced last month that the Nexus phone will jump to Lenovo-Motorola.

Also, choosing LG for the Nexus 6 project makes sense for Google. Recall that the South Korean device manufacturer was also responsible for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, which were based respectively from the LG Optimus G and LG G2.

Citing Gizmodo Germany as source, Phone Arena noted too that in previous cases, the upcoming Nexus 6 will be the slightly stripped-down version of the LG G3. Specifically,

LG G Flex Mouth on Hand video suggests phone is a human
News from SlashGear:

Chris Burns

In a move that you’d expect only the Super Bowl crew of advertising agents would push forward, LG has created a spot for the LG G Flex with human lips. In a move that we’ve only otherwise seen Sony roll with on the Xperia Play, LG presents the LG G Flex as a device that’s “the most human phone ever.” We must assume that they mean the phone curves to the side of your face.

This spot begins with a Mexican singer playing a birthday song for Danny Boy, the character in the salmon button-up shirt. Afterward, the second character hands the first a present from himself and a photo of a person who couldn’t be there for the celebration. From there it gets extra-strange.

Danny Boy opens the package and finds an LG G Flex box much like we’ve seen with the international release of the device. Inside though, there’s no LG G Flex. Instead, Danny Boy finds his hand with a mouth on it. This hand begins to “ring”, and he places it against his face.

The “phone call” is from the third character who is taking a vac…………… continues on SlashGear

LG Electronics swung to a loss in the fourth quarter, but saw signs of life flicker a little brighter in its smartphone business.

The Korean conglomerate posted a loss of 64 billion Korean won, or $ 59.1 million, reversing a year-ago profit of 223 Korean won, or $ 205.8 million. LG blamed an unfavorable shift in the foreign currency exchange rate for the year-over-year downturn.

Revenue, however, inched up 0.8 percent to 14.92 trillion Korean won, or $ 13.8 billion.

2nd Nexus 5 or Optimus G Pro 2? LG Device Codenamed LG-D830 with 16MP …
News from International Business Times AU:

From Phone Arena, the LG-D830 was detected courtesy of a benchmark test result with the gadget registering top numbers in browser performance. The same report hinted too of a 1080p display resolution or mirroring the same screen prowess that was seen in the Nexus 5.

What makes it a Nexus 5 second build candidate? CNET noted in a report that LG-D830 is sequentially related to LF-D820, which of course is the LG-assembled Nexus 5. However, the tech site allowed that it could be an entirely different animal, likely of the high-end breed.

Cross referencing the D830 to the LG G2, which carries the model number LG-D802, keen LG watchers could arrived to the conclusion that it is the second coming of the mildly successful Optimus G Pro.

For the 2014 edition, the chatters suggest that LG will dub the D830 as the G Pro 2. Among its so-called power specs and features is an awesome…………… continues on International Business Times AU

LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update postponed to early 2014, at least in France
News from Android Authority:

Update: LG on Sunday posted a message on its South Korean website, advising LG G2 owners that the domestic Android 4.4 KitKat update will begin in December, although the company did not mention actual roll out dates for the handset. Following the local KitKat update, we would expect to see international LG G2 also receive the software update, although LG is yet to announce such plans for other markets.

After initially saying that the LG G2 will be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat at some point in November/December, SFR France has posted an update on its blog to announce handset owners that the rollout has been postponed to early 2014.

The carrier said that the update may be available in late January, without committing to an actual roll out date, assuming that the internal testing is completed by that time.

T-Mobile LG Nexus 4 Available On Wirefly for $149.99

Tuesday, January 29th, 2013

T-Mobile LG Nexus 4 Available On Wirefly for $ 149.99
News from The Droid Guy:

We’re all pretty sad about the availability issues that the LG Nexus 4 is seeing, but it seems like Google anticipated that beforehand as it partnered with American carrier T-Mobile to bring the device to interested buyers with a two year contract. However, even T-Mo’s version of the Nexus 4 was sold out within days if not in minutes like the Google Play Store. But the device is back in stock and interested customers can rush to T-Mobile stores to get the smartphone again. It will require a two year contract as you all know but will require you to only spend $ 199.99 initially, with monthly plans to choose from. But if your luck doesn’t favor you, you might find that the Nexus 4 is sold out even in T-Mobile or Best Buy stores. Which is why we recommend you have a look at this listing on Wirefly.com which is offering the Nexus 4 with a decent $ 50 discount off the original contract pricing. And yes, shipping is free.

It seems like LG hasn’t quite figured out a way to keep the Nexus 4 in stock. With so much on LG’s plate right now especially with the MWC 2013 event coming up next month, we shouldn’t expect the Nexus 4 stock issues to improve anytime soon. We spoke about this in det…………… continues on The Droid Guy

Wirefly is also carrying the Nexus 4 and has undercut Best Buy by $ 50 on the price of the phone. Both eligible renewal and new customers can buy the T-Mobile Nexus 4 for $ 149 with a two-year customer agreement. Wirefly is also throwing in free Fedex shipping with all orders.

Those looking for an off-contract Nexus 4 may want to wait until the handset makes it appearance again in the Google Play Store. The 16GB Nexus 4 retails for $ 349 on Google Play, while both Best Buy and Wirefly are offering the T-Mobile version of th phone for more than $ 500.

LG support page offers a peek at Nexus 4 production numbers
News from Geek:

Google’s Nexus program has always been enthusiast focused, and never sold particularly well. The Nexus 4′s low price has been matched only by its lack of availability, leading many to believe that the sales volume would have to be astronomical. A little bit of group research combined with a leaky LG support page reveals that the lack of availability could have just been the result of a slow production start.

Several Nexus 4 owners over in the XDA Developers forums decided to see if they could track down individual batches of phones that were having issues. If you recall, there were a lot of problems with the Nexus 7 when it was first released, and there are many users who have had to seek out a new Nexus 4 from Google as the result of defects. If you could track the production batches, maybe a pattern would be revealed that showed defects coming from a specific facility or timestamp for flawe…………… continues on Geek
