Phone Comparisons: LG G4 vs OnePlus 2
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

Introduction

Do we have a good one for you today – the popular LG G4 goes up against the new OnePlus 2.  The tried and true LG brand competes with the always-controversial OnePlus brand.  LG is a huge company and has been making mobile phones for years and their new LG G4 model is a work of art from its QHD display to its top-notch camera area.  OnePlus is a small Chinese smartphone company, founded less than two years ago and while they put out a great product for the price, they have found it hard to get their smartphone built and out into the market at a fast enough pace.  OnePlus has promised that the OnePlus 2 model will be easier to obtain, which will be good news for both the company and their loyal band of followers.

These two devices have a solid build and premium look to them, especially if you include one of the optional backs.  Despite their heritage, the LG G4 and the OnePlus 2 do share a few common specifications.  For starters, they share the same size display at 5.5-inches and because of that, they are also almost identical…………… continues on Android Headlines – Android News

Nexus 5 2015 release date in October? LG’s phone gets rumor mills going
News from ChristianToday:

Google/Nexus

The Nexus 5, which will reportedly share its name with this year’s latest Google phone.

Google follows a trend of releasing a new phone each year. This time, it’s the Google/ LG Nexus 5 that’s being put on the spotlight.

The Google phone of 2015, according to PC Advisor UK, is just right around the corner. However, it’s not exactly sure if what is dubbed as the Nexus 5 2015 is really a Nexus 5 — the name has aready been used, along with Nexus 4, 6, and 7. Nevertheless, there are plenty of speculations on what the upcoming device will have to offer.

The PC Advisor article reports that both LG and Huawei are each doing a version of the device, but somehow, it appears that the LG-Nexus will have 5.2-inch HD P-OLED screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 620, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM with memory expandable up to 64 GB, front-facing speakers, and a 13- and 4-megapixel camera combo. Meanwhile, the Huawei-made Nexus is said to have a 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED screen, a metal unibody chassis, a 21-megapixel rear camera, and wireless charging support.

News from Phone Arena:

Aiming to get to the level of Samsung, Apple, and Huawei, LG has also been making its baby steps on the chipset scene, aiming to design its own smartphone chipset. Its NUCLUN chip barely made it outside South Korea as it was allegedly overheating; subsequently, rumors about another LG-made chipset surfaced, claiming that LG is aiming at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810.

A new rumor just hit us, claiming that LG is preparing a second generation of the NUCLUN chipset. This time around, the rumor mill has it that the NUCLUN 2 will be gunning for Samsung’s top-tier Exynos 7420 chipset, which can be found on the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, and Note5 (it’s also rumored that the high-end

This could be Google’s new Nexus 5 smartphone, built by LG
News from The Verge:

We waved goodbye to the Nexus 5 when Google stopped selling its 2013 flagship Android smartphone earlier this year, but it might be time to say hello to a revamped version. Rumors in May suggested that Google was working with partners Huawei and LG to produce two new Nexus phones — a 5.7-inch Huawei device, and a 5.2-inch model with the Korean manufacturer. Now, thanks to a leaked photo originally posted in the Nexus Indonesia Google+ community, we might have our first glimpse of the new Nexus 5 in the wild.

The image resembles renders of the rumored LG Nexus

The picture shows the back of a white Nexus device. At the base is a sticker featuring a small red circle that appears to be LG’s logo, suggesting this phone, if legitimate, is the LG device rather than the Huawei collaboration. At the top is a camera lens, and just underneath, a similarly sized circle that looks to be the rumored fingerprint scanner. The image closely resembles rend…………… continues on The Verge

Leaks of the upcoming Google Nexus 5 (2015) reveal that the gadget will come with a large display for a better mobile experience.

NDTV Gadgets reported that the leaked renders of the Nexus 5 shows a slim design for the phone with the volume control and power button placed on its right side.

“The bottom panel will house the 3.5mm audio jack and will also include the charging slot. The left panel of the handset is said to sport the SIM card slot,” the report said.

The renders also reportedly show that the Nexus 5 may come with a fingerprint scanner which is believed to be placed on the rear side of the phone, below the main camera.

uSwitch exclusive: LG Nexus 5 renders and video confirm rear fingerprint …
News from uSwitch.com (Tech):

The LG Nexus 5 2015 edition will feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and pack a 5.2-inch screen and protruding camera, renders obtained by uSwitch reveal.

Sourced on our behalf by @OnLeaks, AKA Steve Hemmerstoffer of Nowwhereelse.fr, the renders are based on detailed factory schematics provided to accessory-makers. They’re then used as the blueprint to ensure third-party accessories are compatible with as-yet-unreleased handsets.

The renders confirm that LG, which experimented with including buttons on the back of its G3 and G4, will take this approach a stage further for the Nexus 5 with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that sits square beneath the protruding camera.

Around the front, it looks like they’ll be dual-stereo speakers for a nice, full sound.

The images also add heft to claims that the screen will come in 5.2-inches, up from 4.95-inches last time around, and effectively rubber-stamp reports that the phone will be 146.9mm high, 72.9mm wide and is 8mm thick. However, if you include the protruding camera in the latter measure, it’s 9.8…………… continues on uSwitch.com (Tech)

Here’s why LG is still making flip phones
News from The Verge:

Like AOL subscriptions, the flip phone seems to be an anachronism, a leftover fragment from another age. And yet, just like AOL subscriptions, the flip phone persists, with LG this week introducing its Wine Smart handset. It runs Android on a 3.2-inch screen, comes in a choice of burgundy or navy, and it even has an LTE connection. Plus it has a physical number pad and a bunch of shortcut buttons that old Nokia might have been proud of.

It would be easy to poke fun at something we don’t understand, but it’s far more interesting to find out why this LG Wine Smart handset (and a number of similar ones from Samsung) still exists. So I asked. Here’s what LG told me: flip phones remain popular with four, somewhat related classes of users. These are people who:

1) Use their phone primarily for talking, not gaming or browsing.

2) Want their young children to be connected but not distracted by games.

3) Are generally older and are not comfortable pressing buttons on a screen or have trouble seeing the small keys on a glass display.

4) Need smart functions occasionally for looking things up and messaging.

News from CNET:

The Nexus 5 is fast approaching its two-year anniversary. James Martin

The picture gets a little bit clearer for two rumored Nexus smartphones today as reliable Twitter source @onleaks shares new unconfirmed details.

We’re getting to that point of the year where we look for new handsets from Google and its partners. Often released in conjunction with the latest Android OS, Google’s Nexus phone line is typically refreshed in the fall. Sold directly to consumers, these models are unlocked and typically priced lower than top phones from other vendors.

Unlike previous years, Google may tap two hardware makers for the next generation of Nexus smartphones. LG is expected to release a new take on 2013′s Nexus 5; Huawei is

New Nexus rumors claim that LG will make Google’s next smartphone

New Nexus rumors claim that LG will make Google’s next smartphone
News from PhoneDog:

After creating the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 for Google, a new report claims that LG could challenge Samsung for the title of most prolific Nexus maker.

Chinese site eToday claims that Google engineers recently paid a visit to LG headquarters, research and development labs, and factories where things like optical image stabilization (OIS) and wireless charging modules are made. The reason for the visit from these Googlers? They were reportedly there as part of a project codenamed “N000,” which also goes by the working name “Nexus 7.” (Yes, they’d need a new name since we’ve already got two Nexus 7 tablets.)

LG and Google are tight, having worked on two Nexus phones, a Google Play edition tablet, and three Android Wear watches in the past. Because of that history, it’s certainly possible that Google could tap LG for another Nexus phone after giving the Life’s Good crew a year off. Google has shown that it’s…………… continues on PhoneDog

LG changed their mind, will launch the quirky LG AKA outside of South Korea …
News from Phandroid.com:

Originally designed exclusively for South Korea, LG has announced that they’ll soon be bringing their quirky AKA line to new markets, starting first in Hong Kong. The phones definitely have personality, something we never thought we’d say about a smartphone. Each LG AKA features a different character that peeks out from the top of their own accessories, showing off their own unique personas. There’s 4 characters total, which LG describes as:

  • Eggy (yellow) who falls frequently in love
  • Wooky (white) ever-so-impulsive
  • Soul (navy) music lover with a soft-heart
  • Yo-Yo (pink) who is always on a diet

It’s more than just cartoon eyes and cases, with the characters woven into the phone’s wallpapers, ringtones, and widgets. With soon to be global release of the device, LG has also added something they’re calling an “emotional UX element.” Essentially, users can further customize their AKA’s eyes with glasses or different eyebrows. They’ll even be including stickers and an “Art Toy” figurine which can be digitized by snapping a picture of it, then adding it to selfies or other photos taken by the phone.

Phone Comparisons: LG G Flex 2 vs Google Nexus 6

Phone Comparisons: LG G Flex 2 vs Google Nexus 6
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

Do we have a good one for you today – the new LG G Flex 2 goes up against the new Google Nexus 6.  Even though different manufacturers – LG and Motorola – make these devices, they do have a few similarities that we can shout out about.  The displays are only one-half inch different and they both use the OLED display technology.  Both devices have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage – with the G Flex 2 you can add a microSD card for additional storage and with the Nexus 6 you can order a 64GB model, but there is no expansion beyond that, as Google wants you to use the cloud to store your data.

The main cameras have almost identical specifications – 13MP sensor, OIS, Autofocus, and dual-tone flash.  The G Flex 2 has a superior Laser Autofocus for quicker focus times and the Nexus 6 has its flash designed into a ring around the camera lens, rather than off to the side.  The front-facing cameras (FFC) are almost identical – 2.1MP on the G Flex 2 and 2MP on the Nexus 6.  Both batteries top the 3000mAh size with the G Flex 2 hitting it the nail on the head and the Nexus 6 ups the size to 3220mAh, although both devices will easily get it through a day of usage and both devices have a Quick Charge for the b…………… continues on Android Headlines – Android News

Phone Comparisons: LG G Flex 2 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 4
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

Have we got a good one for you today – the newest LG G Flex 2 goes up against the newest in the Note series, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.  Both devices are awesome looking with their small bezels and build quality.  Samsung went with a full metal frame and trim that really accentuates the faux leather backing, giving it that much desired premium look and feel.  LG retained an improved version on its self-healing curved back and while a fingerprint magnet, it is very catching and pleasing to the eye…not to mention comfortable to hold.

Even though these devices have vastly different audiences and built by competing companies, they do have several items in common.  The displays are very close in size – 5.5-inches for the G Flex 2 and 5.7-inches for the Galaxy Note 4 and both use a form of OLED technology.  Both U.S. devices chose to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, although different models, and both have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, as well as having a microSD card slot for expansion.  Both devices are very similar in size, although the Galaxy Note 4 outweighs the G Flex 2 by 24 grams – probably the metal and larger battery. Both devices have the usual Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1,…………… continues on Android Headlines – Android News

Counterclockwise: Nexus One, LG Optimus 2X, LTE
News from GSMArena.com:

You’d think that tech companies are busy marketing their existing products for a final holiday buying spree, but it turns out some defining moments in mobile history happened around this time of year. This edition of Counterclockwise recounts several of these occasions – the gossipy birth of the Nexus line, jumping to a next-generation cellular tech and bringing high-quality video to people’s pockets.

Nexus of power

Google started Android as a software platform, but before 2009 had come to an end there were strong suggestions that Google will turn to hardware and produce its own phone. Not a simple developer version like the ones the search giant gave its employees and attendees to Google I/O. Instead it would be a proper, Google-branded phone.

The new phone – to be named Google Nexus One – would come with a new business model too. It was to be sold with no subsidies (uncommon in the US at the time) and it will be sold from Google and select retailers.

LG G3 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 4
News from The Inquisitr:

Two examples in the Android family that are in direct competition are the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Holding the advantage in the past, Samsung has made further improvements to its latest version of the Note, but LG has packed the LG G3 with features that make it a worthy rival.

Mobile phone screens are becoming bigger every year, and some of them are almost like mini tablets. In fact, a lot of the newer phones being released are referred to as “phablets.” That’s a cross between a phone and a tablet, according to tablet experts School Tech Hub. The Note 4 has a slightly larger face, with a 5.7 inch screen that’s just 2/10 of an inch larger than the LG G3. The G3 counteracts this discrepancy by supplying a sharper resolution of 538 pixels per inch, the sharpest of any major competitor, over the Note 4’s 51…………… continues on The Inquisitr

Android Lollipop Coming to Motorola, HTC, LG, Samsung, and Nexus Phones …
News from Christian Post:

October 27, 2014|1:14 pm

Google/Twitter/Image

Google’s latest mobile operating system, the Android Lollipop is soon to be released to the public but which phones will be getting the updates when it comes out? Much like Android KitKat, it generally depends on what make your phone is and to which carrier you are subscribed but it would seem that most phone manufacturers are already planning to update users to Lollipop when it comes out.

Google’s Nexus line will probably be the first smartphones to get the Lollipop update, whereas the Nexus 6 smartphone and the Nexus 9 tablet already have Android Lollipop out of the box. The Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 are slated to get the update and while there haven’t been any announcements, early November is looking to be a probable date.

HTC on the other hand is planning to get the One M8 and One M7 to Android Lollipop and Jeff Gordon, the company’s global online communications manager, has announced that both phones will be getting the upgrade within 90 days of the software’s release.

Motorola is planning to get Android Lollipop to a large number of their devices, namely the first and second generation Moto X, the Moto G, the Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini.

Camera Shootout: LG G3 vs. Galaxy S5 vs. One (M8) vs. Nexus 5 vs. iPhone 5s
News from Droid Life:

The 13MP camera featured on the LG G3 is certainly one of its main highlights. Much like last year’s G2, the camera features optical image stabilization (OIS+), as well as a fancy new laser built right into the backside of the device to create super-fast auto focus times.

Over the weekend, we put the LG G3 through the camera paces, coming away extremely impressed. For comparison purposes, we took out five top devices, just to see if we could try to come away with something useful.

Down below in the gallery, we have shots from the LG G3, Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One (M8), Google Nexus 5, and Apple iPhone 5s.

You may ask, why did we use an iOS device? If you follow smartphones, then you should know that the iPhone 5s has arguably one of the best situational cameras ever featured on a smartphone. It has an 8MP sensor, but takes great shots.

Without going into each camera’s performance, and to keep this short and sweet, I will only discuss the G3′s performance out in the field. The first thing you notice when snapping a photo with the G3 is the lightning-fast auto focus. When taking photos of a flower in the breeze, the quick speed of the shutter helps capture the shot you wa…………… continues on Droid Life

LG G3: Top 10 Value-added Features of New Flagship Smartphone
News from International Business Times, India Edition:

LG G3

The recently unveiled LG G3 has received massive response from tech critics and fans alike, for its improved design, high resolution display and the use of innovative laser focus technology in the camera.

Though the G3 keeps the design language of its predecessor, it does exude a refined and elegant look, with a metal finish-like surface. The company has also incorporated some big upgrades in terms of internal hardware as well.

Here is a brief description of the top value-added features in G3:

Ergonomic design: The new LG G3 keeps the G2′s design language but the foot print of the phone’s display has been raised to 5.5-inch from 5.2-inch, and its curved back makes the phone comfortably fit in hand.

The phone might give a false sense of metal casing if viewed from far, but in reality, the device flaunts faux metal, the company claims it to be the polished metal case but it in fact the device’s rear case is made of hard, good quality plastic, which comes with the anti-scratch and fingerprint-resistant material coating. Despite the phone’s big size, it measures just 8.9-mm thickness.
