LG Mobile And Cartoon Network Team Up To Speak Up Against Bullying At …
News from Sacramento Bee:

/PRNewswire/ — LG Mobile USA and Cartoon Network today announced a partnership to help prevent bullying in communities across the nation. Kicking off the partnership on August 8 at this year’s LG U.S. National Texting Championship, the sixth annual LG event that awards a $ 50,000 cash prize to the texter with the quickest thumbs, a special “Text for the Cause” round will encourage people across the country to pledge their support for Cartoon Network’s Stop Bullying: Speak Up™ campaign by texting “Join LG” to 27777. *With every text pledge (standard texting rates apply), LG will give $ 1 to fund the network’s on-going distribution of bullying prevention toolkits for middle schools and high schools across the U.S. that help inform teachers and students about bullying prevention.

According to research, 85 percent of youth said they would speak up against bullying if given the right tools. In partnering with Cartoon Network to help create and distribute additional Stop Bullying: Speak Up toolkits, LG is continuing its bullying prevention efforts, which began in 2010 with the launch of the LG Text Education Campaign. Designed to provide parents with the know-how and resources to promote responsible mobile phone usage among their text-savvy children, LG Text Education Campaign included a council…………… continues on Sacramento Bee

LG Optimus Vu Headed to Verizon’s 4G LTE Network?

LG Optimus Vu Headed to Verizon’s 4G LTE Network?
News from Gotta Be Mobile:

A new LG smartphone recently passed through the FCC with radios for Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

According to Engadget, the LG V5950 recently visited the FCC with NFC as well as 4G LTE bands that match Verizon’s network. The wide design, speaker placement, and SIM card tray seem to match the LG Optimus Vu, LG’s giant Galaxy Note competitor. The upper left corner of the device also seems to hold an antenna like the Korean version of the phone.

The FCC never outright mentions the name Optimus Vu, but we don’t know of any other LG phones that look similar to this one. We don’t know of any other phones that match this form factor, actually.

After a visit to the FCC, we might see the Optimus Vu land on Verizon sometime in the near future. We have no idea when it will launch on Big Red, but it will likely be relati…………… continues on Gotta Be Mobile

Quick Voice search
News from Engadget:

After Apple and Samsung have made their Siri and S Voice features keystones of recent smartphone releases, it wasn’t long before other manufacturers jumped in and now it’s LG’s turn with Quick Voice for its Android phones (we’ll see how Apple responds to that). Just announced in Korea and rolling out soon for various members of the Optimus family like the Vu (later this month) and LTE II (in July), it brings natural voice recognition to commonly used functions like searching, setting up appointments or pulling up videos on YouTube. For Korean users it’s even tuned to check dates on the lunar calendar, although there’s no word yet on when or if it will arrive elsewhere.

Suspicious traffic spike crashes LG U+ phone data network

Suspicious traffic spike crashes LG U+ phone data network
News from JoongAng Daily:
The data network of LG U+, the country’s smallest mobile carrier, was out of service yesterday, causing massive inconvenience to startled subscribers.

“Since eight in the morning, data traffic has spiked – about five times what is seen on the usual day,” the company explained in a press release.

“We were not able to properly offer wireless data service, multimedia messaging service and video chats.”

As of 6 p.m. yesterday evening, LG U+ had recovered 90 percent of its data network.

With the popularity of data-gobbling smartphones and tablet PCs, compounded by mobile carriers spoiling customers with unlimited data usage plans, the nation’s data networks are already handling more data than they should, observers say.

And while the surge in data traffic has caused dropped calls and slow connections, it has never caused a network to blackout for hours.

The company, a mobile service affiliate of LG Group, one of the country’s leading family-run conglomerates,…………… continues on JoongAng Daily

Class Action Lawsuit FIled Against LG For G2x Troubles
News from TmoNews:

It isn’t an everyday thing that we write about a class action lawsuit because they are often common and sometimes ridiculously trivial. This time a class action lawsuit has begun against LG claiming that the company has failed to remedy various problems and defects in an appropriate time frame. Terry Horvath seeks to represent a class of T-Mobile G2x owners who are suffering from the same problems, defects and difficulties and believe that LG has failed to deliver on its promises to fix the problems in a timely fashion.

While I don’t know if a class action lawsuit has any merit a best case result might see LG spring to action and fix the situation like yesterday. The thing is, these users are completely right…………… continues on TmoNews
