LG announces 4 new phones ahead of Mobile World Congress, the G4 isn’t one …
News from PC Pro:

LG may well be unleasing its new flagship smartphone, the LG G4, at Mobile World Congress, but ahead of the March show it’s announced that it’ll be launching four new mid-range smartphones.

Known as the Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy, LG’s new smartphones build on “LG’s design language to bring optimised performance and effortless user experience to a broader range of consumers,” says an LG press release. PR-speak aside, this means these four new phones, available in both 4G and 3G versions, will be built to premium specifications, but offered at affordable prices.

The Magna features a 5in HD display with 294ppi, a 1.2GHz Quad-core processor, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB of internal storage, and 1GB of RAM. It comes with a 2,540mAh removable battery, placing it in a similar range to the upcoming Samsung S6 in terms of capacity. Asian mobile insiders say LG’s G3 will give Samsung a run for its money
News from CNET:

Insiders from smart cities in Asia tell CNET they see a serious challenger to Samsung in LG’s new flagship.

The LG G3 could be a game changer. Nate Ralph/CNET

Singapore and Hong Kong are ideal places to do canary tests on mobile phones. Both countries sell mobile phones unlocked, and have huge mobile penetration rates upwards of 150 percent — that’s at least 1.5 phones per resident.

Throw in smartphone penetration rates upwards of 87 percent for both countries, fast 4G networks and a highly mobile-centric culture which can afford pretty much any phone they desire — whatever goes on in the Singapore and Hong Kong mob…………… continues on CNET

How does LG’s supercharged G3 stack up against the best Android phones?
News from The Verge:

With LG’s official launch of the G3, all major Android manufacturers have now unveiled their flagship smartphones for 2014. HTC has the One M8, and Samsung is of course garnering the most buzz (and sales) with its Galaxy S5. In many ways, it’s a battle reminiscent of the one we saw last year when the G2, original One, and Galaxy S4 squared off. Samsung destroyed its rivals in that round — assuming you still believe the company has legitimate foes. But LG is hoping to establish its place in the smartphone race by leaping ahead on hardware specs instead of matching Samsung stride for stride as it did last year. The G3 has a gorgeous, super high-resolution display and a camera that focuses with lasers. Are these factors and others enough to help its cause and give the new flagship a chance? Let’s take a look.

LG Brings G2 4G LTE Mobile Phone to India

LG Brings G2 4G LTE Mobile Phone to India
News from Businessinsider India:

LG had showcased this phone internationally with 4G LTE capability some time back and now LG has brought it to our side of the globe. The new variant of the G2 4G phone will start its sale from mid March and will carry a price tag of Rs 46,000 for the 16 GB version and Rs 49,000 for the 32GB one.

We had a glimpse of the 4G speeds at the LG Tech Show, which was held today in Delhi NCR. LG had put a 4G simulation up for this phone and the speeds we saw were mind boggling. Besides displaying extreme graphics on its rich IPS screen the phone could download a 100 MB file within 5 seconds. The rest of the phone specs include a 5.2-inch touch display, 2 GB RAM and 3,000 mAh li-ion battery.

It’s good to see that LG is bringing its latest mobile innovations to India, but the fact still remains that our country is still not equipped for 4G. Airtel might have started 4G rollout in few cities, but there are places in the country where 3G does not work properly. We are hoping with new devices such as LG G2 4G LTE coming out the operators will hasten the process of 4G rollout in more cities and states, which takes care of all mobile data problems.

LG G3 release date possibility rumour
News from Phones Review:

Those looking to pick up a new smartphone this year seem certain to have a great choice of worthy handsets to pick from in the coming few months, and the LG G3 release date possibility is again rumoured ahead of any official news.

A couple of weeks ago we heard a LG executive suggesting that the LG G3 release will be brought forward to give the handset more of a chance to compete in a crowded market. Now there are rumours about the release date for the device with suggestions it may come as soon as June.

The company has already provided the mobile world with the LG G Pro 2 but Ubergizmo are claiming the next flagship device from the company will come in June. Last year’s model was released in September while some regions had to wait until October, but the company said previously that they want the next device to have some clear space to succeed.

There has been talk that the LG G3 specs will

LG G2 review: LG’s best smartphone to date – Know Your Mobile
News from LG G2 review: LG’s best smartphone to date – Know Your Mobile:

It must be a pretty odd undertaking being a handset manufacturer making your own flagship at the same time as creating Google’s Nexus-branded flagship, but that’s exactly what LG has done with the LG G2 and Google’s Nexus 5.

While the Nexus name is widely recognised and well-regarded, LG is undergoing a re-branding excercise, dropping the Optimus moniker and simply running with LG G2. It is, arguably, the best smartphone LG has produced to date, so it would be a shame for it to be overshadowed by Google’s stock Android offering.

The LG G2 combines incredible power with a unique design and a wonderful sc…………… continues on LG G2 review: LG’s best smartphone to date – Know Your Mobile

LG debuts Optimus G Pro ahead of Mobile World Congress

LG debuts Optimus G Pro ahead of Mobile World Congress
News from CNET Australia:

LG, seemingly unable to keep a secret, has teased a 5.5-inch version of the Optimus G Pro.

The 5.5-inch LG Optimus G Pro will take the fight directly to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
(Credit: LG)

Presumably arriving in late February at Mobile World Congress (MWC), the handset aims to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

A teaser image posted on an LG Facebook page provides an early glimpse of the larger, yet familiar, design. Although the official details for the 5.5-inch handset are light, early rumours suggest that a quad-core 1.7GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera are in order. For all practical purposes, the new phone looks to be a larger take on the model headed to Japan this year.

As the fourth LG phone outed this week, the LG Optimus G Pro will find a home in South Korea in the coming weeks. It is unclear what other markets might offer the new smartphone. We hope to learn the full details of the new line of Optimus handsets at Mobile World Congress later this month.

LG Nexus 4 vs HTC M7 (HTC One) in irresistible comparison
News from Phones Review:

One of the most-talked about smartphones at the moment is the LG Nexus 4, offering Google’s pure vanilla Android. Despite the fact that it has been difficult to get hold of since its release late last year, that hasn’t been enough to put people off waiting for it and demand continues to be high. Will that demand be so high though when the HTC M7 comes out, rumored for release later this month? We’re taking a comparison look at the LG Nexus 4 vs. HTC M7 (HTC One), two pretty irresistible devices.

If you’re wondering why we have put HTC One in brackets it’s because this phone has also been recently rumored to be launching with the HTC One name instead of the M7, causing a certain amount of confusion. For the rest of this article and for consistency we’ll refer to it as the HTC M7 though.

The Nexus 4 is thought to have sold around

5.5-inch LG Optimus G Pro release may be earlier
News from Phones Review:

If you are in the market this year for a smartphone sized at 5-inches or above there certainly looks to be plenty of choice. This includes offerings from LG that are looking to expand their share of the smartphone market in the coming months, and it seems the company may be giving an earlier release to the 5.5-inch LG Optimus G Pro.

Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo revealed the LG Optimus G Pro last month, but we have since learned that the International version with have a larger 5.5-inch display similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Early suggestions have tipped the handset with its Full HD display would be coming sometime during March, which would be a few weeks after an announcement at the Mobile World Congress.

Now it is being claimed that LG has had a change of plan and are looking to release the handset later this month. This may mean it could launch at the event and the company has been busy releasing

LG Mobile hints at upcoming ‘new series’ that will feature an ‘unexpected …
News from PhoneDog:

Love surprises? Then you’ll be excited to hear that that’s exactly what LG has up it sleeve. The company recent took to the official LG Mobile Facebook page to post a teaser image that features a red bow and the declaration “New series will be unveiled.” The description of the image invites us to “see what surprise LG has in store” and teases that said surprise has “an unexpected distinction.”

There’s no mention on the page of exactly when LG’s surprise will be revealed, but with Mobile World Congress slated to kick off later this month, that show seems like as good a place as any for LG to show off something new. Exactly what that something is is still a mystery for now, though.

LG Guessed to Withdraw from China’s Mobile Phone Market

BEIJING, Dec 19, 2012 (Menafn – SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) –An insider of LG Electronics Inc. said that the company would withdraw from China’s mobile phone market in 2013.

LG mobile phone business has been sluggish in China since 2010. The company no longer launches new mobile phone models and is clearing its mobile phone stock at present.

LG’s global market share slipped from 10% in 2009 to 3.1% now, according to the data from IDC. The company’s mobile phone business has been declining fiercely in China since October. Besides, the company is reported to have been cutting its mobile phone division and plans to reduce 1,000 sales personnel. Due to the ultra low market share, LG withdrew from China’s air conditioning market in August, becoming another South Korean enterprise quitting this Chinese market after Samsung. continues on Financial and … – MENAFN.COM

Danes pay double for LG’s Nexus 4
News from TECH.BLORGE.com:

December 18, 2012

Most of us in the US are used to having our cell phones subsidized by our carrier making it cheaper to get the phone up front.  The majority of the phones cost is paid for over the life of our two year contract. Still no one expects to pay over twice the unsubsidized price of the phone except for Danes interested in purchasing LG’s Nexus 4.

According to Geek.com, purchasing a Nexus 4 in Denmark is going to cost you $ 828. While many phones unsubsidized would cost between $ 500 and $ 700, this phone purchased straight from Google costs only $ 349. So how can Danish carrier Three get away with charging so much? Because you can’t purchase the phone directly from Google if you live in Denmark. That seems to imply that anyone that wants the phone is willing to be fleeced by either the phone carrier or LG, whichever one set that exorbitant price.

LG Venice (Boost Mobile)

LG Venice (Boost Mobile)
News from PC Magazine:

By Alex Colon

If you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, then you shouldn’t judge a smartphone by its specs. Case in point: Based on specs alone, the $ 219.99 LG Venice should be able to hold its own against other similarly priced phones in Boost Mobile’s lineup. And while that should make this a three and-a-half or four-star phone, a litany of bugs renders it occasionally unusable. That turns what could have been a good smartphone into one we can’t recommend.

LG Nexus 4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3: Google Phone More Expensive Due to Low …
News from International Business Times AU:

The LG-made smart phone Google Nexus 4 is currently facing the dilemma of low supply and high demand.

As a consequence, LG Nexus 4 price is more expensive compared to Samsung Galaxy S3 that is easily obtainable worldwide.

Despite the reappearance at the Google Play Store, LG was unsuccessful in meeting the consumers’ increasing demand resulting to a disastrous 4 to 5 weeks shipping delay for the 16GB Nexus 4 and a much worse delay of 4 to 9 weeks for the 8GB base model shipment.

LG Nexus 4 with a 16GB memory is worth $ 700. The smart phone runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 with a 2GB RAM and 8GB or 16GB storage capacity. It also sports a 4.7-inch IPS display with 768 x 1280 pixels resolution which shows an impressive 318 pixels per inch density.

The LG Nexus 4 additional feature is a front-facing HD video chat camera plus a back-facing primary 8-megapixel camera.

On the other hand, a 16GB Samsung Galaxy S3 costs $ 550 with some third-party retailers offering a reduced price of $ 490 to $ 520 to consumers.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 ships with Android Ice Cream Sandwich but a Jelly Bean update can be applicable on the first boot with a dual-core processor and 2GB RAM in the United States or a quad-core processor plus a 1GB RAM if the device is purchased overseas.

The smart phone has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pix…………… continues on International Business Times AU
