In the market for a budget LTE Android phone? Meet the LG F60
News from TechnologyTell:

Just so there are no misunderstandings, let me start off by rephrasing the question in the article’s headline. Is anyone in the market for a budget LTE-capable Android handheld that’s not the Moto G 4G? You know, the incredibly cheap, amazingly solid 4.5 incher Amazon sells for $ 199.99?

There is someone? Well, color me surprised then. Don’t get me wrong, the confusingly named F60 that LG just introduced has a few things going for it. But overall, it’s inferior to the G 4G, and my hunch tells me it’s going to be pricier too.

For now, LG’s mum on the subject of retail costs, merely claiming the F60 is aimed at “young and old users alike who are looking for the fastest mobile experience possible at a reasonable price”. Sounds vague enough for LG to ill-advisedly slap the F60 with, say, a $ 250 price tag.

The handheld, that’s not to be mistaken for the recently announced,

LG Announces L Series II, Mid-Range To Low-End Phones For All
News from Android Police:

While the Nexus 4 may be the LG handset getting everyone’s attention, the company does have other market segments to think about. The L SeriesII (so that’s what happened to the other letter from the Optimus G) fills that need with a trio of handsets that will debut with the Optimus L7II in Russia next week. The phone comes with a 4.3″ 800×480 IPS display, dual-core Qualcomm processor and Jelly Bean 4.1.

Here are the full specs for the L7II:

• Chipset: 1GHz Dual-Core (Qualcomm MSM8225)
• Memory: Up to 4GB eMMC / 768MB RAM / Micro SD
• Display: 4.3-inch WVGA IPS

LG Windows Phone 8 Devices Possible at MWC 2013
News from Gotta Be Mobile:

It seems you just can’t keep a good smartphone manufacturer down. After more than a year of silence from LG on its plans for Windows Phone, we may finally see the manufacturer return to building devices that showcase Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system: Windows Phone 8.

While talking to the Korea Times, a senior executive at LG mentioned that the company would:

“..Release quite a number of new Optimus devices this year and LG also has some new smartphones in the works, that will run Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8.”

This statement comes just after the maker of appliances and smartphones talked up

Verizon unveils LG Lucid mid-range LTE Android phone
News from CNET:

The new LG Lucid smartphone will hit Verizon’s 4G LTE network for $ 80 on March 29.

Hot on the heels of the handset’s leaked details, Verizon just made the LG Lucid official. The modestly specked device will cost $ 79.99 (with a 2-year contract), run Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM.

The LG Lucid’s screen is a roomy 4-inch display coated by tough Gorilla Glass treatment. For one-handed text entry there’s Swype’s virtual keyboard software along with Android’s stock virtual keys. Shutterbugs probably won’t find the Lucid’s 5-megapixel camera very impressive but LG does claim it will shoot video at a full 1080p HD.

The real draw for consumers will likely be the LG Lucid’s 4G LTE data connection. While much…………… continues on CNET

LG Spectrum Review: This Is One Ugly Sumbitch
News from TechCrunch:

Short Version

The LG Spectrum has spent a long while with me. In fact, LG’s asking for it back, saying that my review period has come to an end. I didn’t get around to the full review until now because (to be perfectly honest with you) I didn’t really want to sit down and talk about the LG Spectrum for X amount of hours.

True, there’s nothing necessarily “wrong” with the phone. It’s got solid specs, performs alright (I guess), and has a downright gorgeous display. But at the same time, there’s a long list of issues that I have with the phone, and most center around design.

Features:

  • 4.5-inch 720×1280 True HD IPS display
  • Verizon 4G LTE
  • Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread
  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 8MP rear camera (1080p video capture)
  • 1.3MP front-facing camera
  • LG UI
  • MSRP: $ 199.99 on-contract

Pros:

  • This is a stunning display, without a doubt
  • Camera gets the job done
  • 4G LTE speeds are fast

Cons:

  • Poor battery life
  • Creaks and cracks when stressed
  • Ugly: Too light and plastic-y to feel premium
  • LG UI is equally ugly
