LG’s Intuition Off the Mark
News from All Things Digital:

Confession: When Samsung first released its Galaxy Note smartphone last February, I thought the company was crazy.

Part smartphone, part tablet — or “phablet,” as some like to call it — the Galaxy Note is ginormous, and I just couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to use such a big device as their phone. But a sequel is on the way, and competitors are following suit.

One of those competitors is the LG Intuition, which is available now from Verizon Wireless for $ 200 with a two-year contract. I spent the past week with this phablet, and though it offers a spacious five-inch display and speedy performance, I would not buy this device. It has an unwieldy design, and the screen’s odd aspect ratio has trouble displaying some apps. And use of 4G takes a big toll on battery life. LG announces Optimus Vu 2 smartphone
News from Inquirer:

KOREAN PHONE MAKER LG announced its Optimus Vu smartphone today, which has specifications almost identical to those of its first generation sibling.

Set to make its debut in Korea, the LG Optimus Vu 2 sports a newer design than the original Vu, but this houses an identical 5in 4:3 aspect ratio screen and a lackluster 1.5GHz dual-core processor. What’s more disappointing is that the phone will come running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), even though its main rival the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will start shipping with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on Monday.

Still, for those who are after a large-screened phone it’s not all that bad, as the Optimus Vu also comes with an improved Rubberdium 2.0 stylus for on-screen doodling, which boasts a “thinner and more precise” tip.

There’s also an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, integrated NFC technology and support for LTE connectivity. The phone will be available in white, black or pink flavours.

The LG Optimus Vu 2 will soon be going on sale in Korea for around £530. LG has yet to confirm whether it will be coming to the UK, but, to be honest, we’re not very interested.
