Google 2015 Nexus Phone Likely Exposed In Latest Leaked LG G4 Note Images
News from International Business Times AU:

The Google Nexus 2015 smartphone may still be a toss between the regular LG G4 and the rumoured phablet LG G4 Note but Android fans now have a peek of what could be the device’s final cut. Alleged images of the G4 Note are available online, providing a window of the look, specs and features for the next Nexus.

XDA Developers user s3rv1cet3ch provided to Android Central four images of the G4 Note that apparently is now in the testing phase. The report was not specific if the device is a prototype, meaning changes will still take effect, or it is largely the final build. Most of the revealed specs and features in the picture will be carried over on launch time.

LG signature

True enough, the leaked images showed a device that has the LG trademark. The rear resembles that of the LG G3 – the low speaker placement, the main camera flanked by the LED flash and a sensor plus the back-located keys that doubles as volume rocker and scroll controller.<…………… continues on International Business Times AU

LG’s 5-5inch Gx launched in Korea

Tuesday, December 17th, 2013

LG’s 5-5inch Gx launched in Korea
News from CNET Australia:

A new 5.5-inch LG smartphone has been launched in Korea. The Gx transplants the specs and features from the 5.2-inch G2 into a 5.5-inch shell.

The LG Gx was first leaked in some promotional documents, but that rumour has quickly become reality. The Gx was launched in Korea yesterday and features most of the same hardware as the slightly smaller G2.

A quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 13-megapixel camera, 32GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM and a big 3,140mAh battery are all largely in line with rumours and with LG’s existing G2. The new phone’s larger 5.5-inch display is a 1920×1080 pixel one, translating into a pixel density of 400ppi.

Running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the Gx has some LG-only features like Knock On, which wakes the phone after two taps on the screen in quick succession. A series of LG accessories can be bought to suit the Gx like the company’s QuickWindow case, which has a flip cover with a transparent area for notifications.

For now, the LG Gx is a Korean-only launch, but an international version with Australian 4G band support may be on its way.

A Nexus 8, more or less: LG’s G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition reviewed
News from Ars Technica:

Enlarge / LG’s G Pad 8.3, now in a stock-Android Google Play edition.

Andrew Cunningham

To date, Google has kept its lineup of Nexus phones and tablets pretty simple. There’s a phone, a small tablet, and a big tablet. Only one device in each category is offered for sale at any given time. The wider Android ecosystem is more diverse than that, though, and the operating system’s biggest power users demand more choices. Different form factors, bigger screens, and SD card slots are all common requests. The problem is that non-Nexus devices that support these features lack the clean, “stock” Android of the Nexus lineup, and they rarely get prompt operating system updates.

LG pulls a Samsung, decides to make fun of the iPhone 5 in Korea

LG pulls a Samsung, decides to make fun of the iPhone 5 in Korea
News from Android Authority:

Samsung loves to make fun of Apple. Their television ads make fun of people standing in line for the iPhone. Their online ads point out the iPhone’s distinct lack of features. And guess what? People respond to the ads because they either A) Reinforce their purchasing decision or B) Help them think of insults to hurl at Apple people.

LG, looking at all the buzz these campaigns have generated, has decided to copy Samsung. If you’ve been following the mobile industry for as long as we have, then you already know that LG copying Samsung isn’t really anything new, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise to you.

These new LG ads, which have only appeared in Korea thus far, compare the LG Optimus G to the iPhone 5. In one ad, LG’s phone slices through an Apple, leaving it in two pieces. The text at the bottom reminds people that they’re going to be stuck with the phone they buy for the next two years, so choose carefully.

Now LG also runs their own wireless service in South Korea called LG Uplus. They’re running…………… continues on Android Authority

Korea Corporate Bond Sales Jump as LG Electronics Boosts Issue

Korea Corporate Bond Sales Jump as LG Electronics Boosts Issue
News from Bloomberg:

LG Electronics Inc. (066570)’s first won- denominated note sale in a year helped corporate bond offerings in the currency rise almost fivefold this week as a slowing South Korean economy pushed yields to historic lows.

Issuance increased to 1.36 trillion won ($ 1.2 billion) from 280 billion won last week, data compiled by Bloomberg shows. Yields on three-year AA-rated corporate notes fell to 3.24 percent on Sept. 5, the least since the Korean Financial Investment Association started compiling data in 1993. Similarly-rated U.S. corporate securities yielded 2.13 percent yesterday, according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch indexes.

LG, the world’s No. 4 mobile-phone maker, took advantage of plunging yields by increasing the size of its offering 50 percent to 300 billion won, the data show. Asia’s fourth-largest economy failed to meet the central bank’s growth estimates, according to a re…………… continues on Bloomberg

LG announces Optimus LTE2, coming to Korea mid-May with True HD IPS and 2GB RAM

LG announces Optimus LTE2, coming to Korea mid-May with True HD IPS and 2GB RAM
News from Engadget:

Unlike today’s other phone announcement, we can’t say we were expecting to see LG come out with something of its own — and it’s a bit of a doozy, at that. Samsung’s Korean rival decided not to let the Galaxy S III have the full spotlight for long, officially unleashing the Optimus LTE2. The mind-blowing portion of the spec sheet is its inclusion of 2GB RAM, a milestone we haven’t yet seen in a smartphone. Additionally, the LTE2 will feature the company’s “True HD IPS” display, WPC-backed wireless charging capabilities, Android 4.0 and a 2,150mAh battery that LG claims will increase the battery life by an astounding 40 percent. We haven’t received word on which CPU will be used, though we’re hopeful that a quad-core beast (or Krait, perhaps?) will complement the astounding amount of RAM. The LTE2 is due to land on at least three carriers in Korea sometime in mid-May, but we haven’t heard any pricing or additional country availability at this time. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more. In the meantime, check out LG’s Flickr pag…………… continues on Engadget

LG Denies Plans to Abandon Windows Phone
News from PC Magazine:

LG this week denied that it will abandon the Windows Phone platform, though it did concede that its primary focus is Android devices.

“No, we are not giving up on Windows Phone,” an LG spokesman said in an email. “Although we don’t have another Windows device in the pipeline at this moment, that is simply because demand for Android devices is so strong.”

“We’ve maintained since the beginning that LG will support whatever operating system consumers want but at the moment, our priority is to get our Android devices to a level where we feel we’ve covered all the bases, to use an American analogy,” the spokesman continued.

News of LG abandoning Windows Phone made the rounds yesterday after a report in the Korea Herald said that LG was “taking a step back from Windows phones.”

The report also said that Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer would meet with LG’s Koo Bon-joon during the Seoul Digital Forum on May 22.

The LG spokesman said the Korea Herald was taking things out of context and likened the publication t…………… continues on PC Magazine

LG announces Resident Evil 4 for Android, keeps it in Korea

LG announces Resident Evil 4 for Android, keeps it in Korea
News from Android Community:

Survival horror fans, prepare to be excited… and then bitterly disappointed. LG (yup, LG, not developer Capcom) announced today that the excellent Resident Evil 4 is now available on Android. If you live in LG’s home territory of South Korea. And you have an LG phone with access to their proprietary U+ Market. And it uses an LTE radio. And you’ve got about five bucks you’re not particularly fond of. Android gamers, try to contain your joy.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen LG and Capcom buddy up for a major game release: the much-anticipated Street Fighter IV HD is also an LG exlusive, and looks to be so for some time. After promising a Q4 2011 release, LG and/or Capcom bumped the game back to 2012 to help promote the Street Fighter Global Championship 2012 Tournament. Owners of AT&T’s LG Nitro HD or the Optimus LTE international model can pick it up now in the LG Smart World app store. There’s no word on when Street Fighter will make it into the Android Market for non-LG devices.
