LG Optimus Vu Headed to Verizon’s 4G LTE Network?
News from Gotta Be Mobile:

A new LG smartphone recently passed through the FCC with radios for Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

According to Engadget, the LG V5950 recently visited the FCC with NFC as well as 4G LTE bands that match Verizon’s network. The wide design, speaker placement, and SIM card tray seem to match the LG Optimus Vu, LG’s giant Galaxy Note competitor. The upper left corner of the device also seems to hold an antenna like the Korean version of the phone.

The FCC never outright mentions the name Optimus Vu, but we don’t know of any other LG phones that look similar to this one. We don’t know of any other phones that match this form factor, actually.

After a visit to the FCC, we might see the Optimus Vu land on Verizon sometime in the near future. We have no idea when it will launch on Big Red, but it will likely be relati…………… continues on Gotta Be Mobile

Quick Voice search
News from Engadget:

After Apple and Samsung have made their Siri and S Voice features keystones of recent smartphone releases, it wasn’t long before other manufacturers jumped in and now it’s LG’s turn with Quick Voice for its Android phones (we’ll see how Apple responds to that). Just announced in Korea and rolling out soon for various members of the Optimus family like the Vu (later this month) and LTE II (in July), it brings natural voice recognition to commonly used functions like searching, setting up appointments or pulling up videos on YouTube. For Korean users it’s even tuned to check dates on the lunar calendar, although there’s no word yet on when or if it will arrive elsewhere.

LG E970, LS970 tipped to be headed to AT&T and Sprint around the …
News from PhoneDog:

Last month, two unannounced LG devices carrying the model numbers LS970 and E970 entered the rumor mill, reportedly heading for Sprint and AT&T, respectively. Both devices are back in the spotlight today, and while they’re still unannounced, we may now have an idea of when that could change. A listing for both the LS970 and E970 has popped up on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group’s website, showing that both devices are made by LG and will feature LTE connectivity. Interestingly, the page also claims that the devices “will be available on North America Market around 2012.10.31.”

The leaked LG phone sightings don’t stop there, as the E970 has also been spotted in a User Agent Profile that lists the phone’s display as having a resolution of 1280×768, which lines up the leaked specs that showed up last month. Additionally, the E970 has reportedly appeared in a NenaMark benchmark test. As for the LS970, an alleged page for the Sprint-bound phone has popped up on the AnTuTu be…………… continues on PhoneDog

Ting promises LTE smartphones from LG, HTC ‘sooner than later’
News from FierceWireless:

Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) MVNO Ting said it plans to release a number of LTE devices “sooner than later,” including the LG Viper 4G LTE, the LG Optimus Elite and HTC Evo 4G LTE. Later on, the company said it expects to sell the Samsung Galaxy S III, and possibly the Samsung Galaxy Nexus as well.

“As a Sprint MVNO, we have some restrictions on which devices we can make available to our customers as they must be approved for use on the Sprint network. As a general rule, the device lineup available through Sprint Retail is a good indicator of the devices we can or will get,” Ting’s Scott Allan wrote on the company’s blog. “We want to bring you the best devices as soon as possible, and we are working closely with Sprint to continually improve our ability to do so. We are pretty happy with what we have been able to offer to date, and are quite optimistic things are only going to get better.”

Sprint is gearing to launch LTE service sometime this summer.

Ting noted that all its forthcoming smartphones will run Google’s Android operating system.

“We have no plan to offer…………… continues on FierceWireless

[Rumor] LG LS970 Headed To Sprint With Quad-Core Snapdragon S4, 2GB Of RAM …
News from Android Police:

If you were to come up with your ideal phone, the specs would probably look like those rumored for the mysterious LG LS970 on Sprint. This phone will reportedly have the Qualcomm APQ8064 (Snapdragon S4) at its heart. This is a quad-core 28nm Krait chip with the next-generation Adreno 320 GPU. Since this is an “APQ” chip, that means a separate LTE data modem will be used, currently listed in the leaked profile as the MSM9615.

Also included in the leaked data is a listing for 2GB of RAM, which is twice as much as high-end devices are currently shipping with (and probably more than Android needs). The supposed screen is a little bizarre. We’re looking at a 4.67-inch 1280×768 panel, but those extra pixels could be reserved for on-screen buttons. The rear camera is called out as a whopping 13MP sensor.

This device seemingly has everything I could want in a phone, which immediately makes me skeptical. The tipster says this phone…………… continues on Android Police

Cellphone ‘digital wallets’ pushed
News from The Advocate:

Photo provided by LG MobilePariticipants in the wireless industry show in New Orleans check out LG mobile phones. One of the hot topics was the digital wallet, the idea of paying for goods and services through smartphones.

Cash, coins and credit cards are so Twentieth Century.

At least, that’s the opinion of the electronics manufacturers, phone companies, banks and credit card issuers that expect cellphones to be the main way consumers pay for purchases in the not-so-distant future.

The trouble is, that vision of tomorrow is somewhat blurry, as evidenced at the U.S. cellphone industry trade show held this week in New Orleans. There are a lot of ideas, but little agreement.

The stakes, however, are high.

“Eighty-five percent of the world’s transactions are still made with cash and checks. We have a wonderful opportunity to convert those,” said Gary Flood, MasterCard’s president of global products and solutions, in a keynote speech at the show.

One concept that gets a lot of attention is the “digital wallet” — a virtual repository for our credit card numbers, receipts, coupons. It’s not much different from a PayPal account, which can be linked to different cards. A lot of companies see the wallet as the key to influence in the world of mobile payments, especially if it sits on a cellp…………… continues on The Advocate

LG Optimus 3D Max clears the FCC – headed to AT&T
News from Android Community:

LG’s looking to release another glasses-free 3D smartphone and while we’ve heard tons of names and leaks, it will officially be known as the LG Optimus 3D Max. We got our first official look at the new 3D phone at Mobile World Congress (linked to below) and now we are seeing it clear the FCC on its way to AT&T. Sadly it appears to only be rocking 3G and HSPA+ speeds, no 4G LTE here.

With names such as the Optimus 3D 2, the CX2, and 3D Cube we’ve seen our fair share of information about this phone. While it doesn’t have any huge changes over the original Optimus 3D (aka LG Thrill 4G for AT&T) it does look like a pretty solid phone, especially if the 3D feature is of any interest to you.

The new 3D Max will be faster, thinner, and lighter than the original. While it had a dual-core processor the new 3D Max comes with a faster 1.2 GHz dual-core chip – although we aren’t sure if that is a Qualcomm or another Texas Instruments OMAP 4. The phone still features a 4.3″ screen with a low 480 x 800 resolution, but it does offer stereoscopic glasses-free 3…………… continues on Android Community
