This could be Google’s new Nexus 5 smartphone, built by LG
News from The Verge:

We waved goodbye to the Nexus 5 when Google stopped selling its 2013 flagship Android smartphone earlier this year, but it might be time to say hello to a revamped version. Rumors in May suggested that Google was working with partners Huawei and LG to produce two new Nexus phones — a 5.7-inch Huawei device, and a 5.2-inch model with the Korean manufacturer. Now, thanks to a leaked photo originally posted in the Nexus Indonesia Google+ community, we might have our first glimpse of the new Nexus 5 in the wild.

The image resembles renders of the rumored LG Nexus

The picture shows the back of a white Nexus device. At the base is a sticker featuring a small red circle that appears to be LG’s logo, suggesting this phone, if legitimate, is the LG device rather than the Huawei collaboration. At the top is a camera lens, and just underneath, a similarly sized circle that looks to be the rumored fingerprint scanner. The image closely resembles rend…………… continues on The Verge

Leaks of the upcoming Google Nexus 5 (2015) reveal that the gadget will come with a large display for a better mobile experience.

NDTV Gadgets reported that the leaked renders of the Nexus 5 shows a slim design for the phone with the volume control and power button placed on its right side.

“The bottom panel will house the 3.5mm audio jack and will also include the charging slot. The left panel of the handset is said to sport the SIM card slot,” the report said.

The renders also reportedly show that the Nexus 5 may come with a fingerprint scanner which is believed to be placed on the rear side of the phone, below the main camera.

New Nexus rumors claim that LG will make Google’s next smartphone
News from PhoneDog:

After creating the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 for Google, a new report claims that LG could challenge Samsung for the title of most prolific Nexus maker.

Chinese site eToday claims that Google engineers recently paid a visit to LG headquarters, research and development labs, and factories where things like optical image stabilization (OIS) and wireless charging modules are made. The reason for the visit from these Googlers? They were reportedly there as part of a project codenamed “N000,” which also goes by the working name “Nexus 7.” (Yes, they’d need a new name since we’ve already got two Nexus 7 tablets.)

LG and Google are tight, having worked on two Nexus phones, a Google Play edition tablet, and three Android Wear watches in the past. Because of that history, it’s certainly possible that Google could tap LG for another Nexus phone after giving the Life’s Good crew a year off. Google has shown that it’s…………… continues on PhoneDog

LG changed their mind, will launch the quirky LG AKA outside of South Korea …
News from Phandroid.com:

Originally designed exclusively for South Korea, LG has announced that they’ll soon be bringing their quirky AKA line to new markets, starting first in Hong Kong. The phones definitely have personality, something we never thought we’d say about a smartphone. Each LG AKA features a different character that peeks out from the top of their own accessories, showing off their own unique personas. There’s 4 characters total, which LG describes as:

  • Eggy (yellow) who falls frequently in love
  • Wooky (white) ever-so-impulsive
  • Soul (navy) music lover with a soft-heart
  • Yo-Yo (pink) who is always on a diet

It’s more than just cartoon eyes and cases, with the characters woven into the phone’s wallpapers, ringtones, and widgets. With soon to be global release of the device, LG has also added something they’re calling an “emotional UX element.” Essentially, users can further customize their AKA’s eyes with glasses or different eyebrows. They’ll even be including stickers and an “Art Toy” figurine which can be digitized by snapping a picture of it, then adding it to selfies or other photos taken by the phone.

LG Nexus 4 Review: Google’s new phone rivals Galaxy S3, Lumia 920 and …
News from Examiner.com:

Manufactured by LG, the new Google Nexus 4 phone (released on Tuesday) brings a very smooth and responsive interface, plus a few new surprises. With a large HD screen of 4.7 inches (11.9 cm), a Qualcomm quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM, the device promises a lot, especially because it is the first to take advantage of version 4.2 of Android.

The design of the Nexus 4 is simple, but yet very elegant. Its large screen size imposes its 15:9 ratio with a beautiful efficiency. It is also very bright (465 cd / m², according to measurements) and displays deep blacks (1661:1 contrast). Plastic materials are discrete on the perimeter of the smartphone. The back of the device, which is covered with a glass surface, is well reinforced against scratches. However, there is concern if it will break in case of bad fall. The Nexus 4 is rather thin and light for its size, but be careful, little hands will be hampered by the width of the touch screen.

LG Nexus 4: Google’s new phone features rival Galaxy Note 2 and Nokia Lumia …
News from Examiner.com:

The new smartphone from Google will finally arrive tomorrow after weeks of waiting and now is the time to see what the LG-Google partnership can do. Google wanted to do things differently with this smartphone and it will be sold unlocked at an affordable price of $ 299. This is good news because the price of the smartphone is not as excessive as those of the competition. The Nexus 4 of Google and LG not only brings very good equipment, but it is also a bargain. Google’s own smartphones have always had a high priority in the camp of Android fans, because manufacturers do not affect the user interface as is the case with Samsung or HTC. However, the smartphone still has its problems.

The Nexus 4 will be able to operate throughout the world thanks to its compatibility with GSM / HSPA +(no LTE). The smartphone has a screen size of 4.7 inches and has a resolution of 1280 x 768. Nexus 4 will be sold in 8 GB or 16 GB, it embeds a 2100 mAh battery and an 8 megapixel camera with the ability to shoot video in 1080p.

The front is dominated by the large display, thus the Nexus 4 acts as a unified whole and the anodized frame reinforce…………… continues on Examiner.com

Phone fight: LG Nexus 4 vs Samsung Galaxy S3
News from Geek:

Every year, for the last four years, Google has released a smartphone that acts as the shining example of how Mountain View thinks Android should look and feel. These Nexus phones appeal to hardcore Android fans, but for a number of  reasons, one has yet to become a top-selling Android smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S3, however, is without a doubt the most successful Android smartphone to have ever been released.

So, when considering which phone you should buy, where do you turn? Should you “go Google” with the Nexus 4 or hop on board the Galaxy S3 train?

Which Galaxy S3?

Our first stop would typically be to compare the hardware points against each other an point out which is the more powerful. There’s kind of a hitch with that, though. As of right now there are several different variants of the Galaxy S3. There’s the HSPA+ version with a quad-core Exynos processor with 1GB of RAM and an LTE version that has a dual-core Snapdragon processo…………… continues on Geek

Google’s Motorola Play Could Alienate Android Teammates
News from Wired News:

Google’s always been happy to stay in the software business, which has suited gadget companies just fine. They’ve all benefited from Google’s willingness to license Android to anyone. But today’s announcement that the tech titan plans to acquire Motorola Mobility Holdings will make them wonder if Google is about to start playing favorites.

A lot of companies — HTC chief among them — have profited nicely with handsets running Google’s free Android operating system. But the news that Google is getting into the hardware business won’t win it any points …………… continues on Wired News
