LG G3 T-Mobile release date tipped, plus more devices

LG G3 T-Mobile release date tipped, plus more devices
News from Phones Review:

The LG G3 is a hotly anticipated flagship smartphone, but although LG recently gave some official news on when it would be available for some regions, there was nothing concrete on its US release. However, the LG G3 T-Mobile release date has now been tipped, along with another possible arrival date for two other devices.

Earlier this month we reported on leaked info that LG G3 pre-orders would be available on Verizon on July 10th with a release touted for July 17th. Although this has not been officially announced it did come from a very reliable source, and now it looks as though T-Mobile could pip Verizon to the post.

A release date has now been leaked by apparent inside sources for the LG G3 on T-Mobile, and it’s claimed that it will be available to customers on July 16th. No price for the phone has been given yet but it’s expected to be around $ 199 on contract or around $ 600 unlocked.

As a brief recap on the key specs of the LG G3 we can tell you…………… continues on Phones Review

LG to Sideline Tablet Development to Focus on Smaller Devices

LG to Sideline Tablet Development to Focus on Smaller Devices
News from Businessweek:

LG Electronics Inc. (066570), the world’s No. 4 mobile-phone maker, will sideline tablet computer development to focus more on smaller devices rather than compete head-on with Apple Inc.’s iPad.

“We’ve decided to put all new tablet development on the back burner for the time being in order to focus on smartphones,” Ken Hong, a spokesman for Seoul-based LG, said in an e-mailed response to queries.

LG introduced its second tablet named Optimus Pad LTE earlier this year as rivals including Samsung Electronics Inc., maker of Galaxy tablets and smartphones, sought to challenge the iPad. Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) (MSFT) unveiled a Windows-powered tablet called Surface yesterday, entering an Apple-dominated market projected to grow to $ 78.7 billion this year, according to an estimate by research firm DisplaySearch.

“LG doesn’t see Surface competing with anything we’re focusing on at the moment,” Hong said.

The electronics maker is trying to turn around its mobile- phone business with its Optimus line of Android-powered smartphones after being overtaken by Apple (AAPL) (

T-Mobile’s Next myTouch Devices Will Be Made By…Huawei

T-Mobile’s Next myTouch Devices Will Be Made By…Huawei
News from TmoNews:

T-Mobile’s myTouch line is their staple line and it all kicked off with the original myTouch, from HTC back in 2009. Skip forward two years and LG takes over with a pair of phones under the myTouch brand. Now, in 2012, T-Mobile will introduce Huawei as the next manufacturer for the myTouch.

We’re looking at two Gingerbread-powered devices, the U8680 and U8730, two identical devices save for the keyboard. Both phones sport a WVGA 800×480 resolution and that’s about all we know spec wise.

Huawei might seem like a strange-choice for T-Mobile to bring to the myTouch name, however, don’t discount Huawei’s global presence and size in the Chinese market. Huawei continues to become more of a recognized name in the United States so it’s likely we’ll see more devices, including higher-end offerings reach the T-Mobile and AT&T network in the future. Perhaps we’ll see another Huawei-branded device in the future? Hint hint.

T-Mobile’s myTouch entries aren’t typically higher-end offerings, geared more to…………… continues on TmoNews

LG Optimus L3 set for March UK release
News from Mazuma Mobile:

02/03/2012

The newly announced LG Optimus L3 – unveiled at this week’s Mobile World Congress – is set to be released in the UK and other parts of Europe in March before a US release date is announced.

LG’s new mobile phone offering is a 3.2-inch low-end device in the L-style design series, however, the firm is confident the Android operating system it runs on will make inroads into the market.

President and chief executive officer of LG Mobile Communications Company Dr Jong-seok Park said the firm has always believed in the need to offer a variety of smartphone options and this phone will offer real value for money.

“We think the Optimus L3 offers all of basic smartphone-related benefits but in a more premium package that hasn’t been seen before on a smartphone in this category,” Dr Park was quoted as saying.

LG also unveiled a further addition to its Optimus line earlier this week.

HTC, Samsung, and LG to launch Mango devices in September; Nokia in October
News from Zunited:

It’s full steam ahead for Microsoft and Windows Phone 7.5. Fujitsu announced the first Mango device just a couple of days ago and now the rumor mill is churning, saying HTC, Samsung, and LG (the original three) will be launching their respective Mango devices this September.

According to a report from DigiTimes, “branded handset vendors including” (but not limited to?) “HTC, Samsung Electronics, and LG Electronics all plan to launch Microsoft’s Mango-based smartphones in September.” The report doesn’t fail to mention that the iPhone 5 is rumored to launch in September as well and these devices would be competing with the Apple device — though, it should be noted that was probably not any handset maker or Microsoft’s intention.

Nokia, meanwhile, will announce its line of Mango devices at Nokia World 2011 to take place in October. DigiTimes notes that this could be a good strategy as Mango bu…………… continues on Zunited

Android Explainer Series: Best LG Android Phones and Devices
News from Android Apps Appolicious:

Need a reasonably priced Android phone that just works? Check out the LG Optimus line. LG jumped on board Android from the beginning and has been leveraging the mid-to-high range smart phone market segment effectively ever since.

Just like Android was designed to do, LG delivers one Android-based phone after another, very quickly, with just slight modifications to the case, buttons, and built-in hardware.

But mid-range isn’t all LG does. In 2011, LG has announced three new exciting Android products – the super thin LG B, the speedy LG Optimus 2X, and the first 3D Android phone appropriately called the Optimus 3D. They’ve even announced their entry into the tablet arena – the Optimus Pad.

Regarding apps, LG skins the OS to brand them for carriers, but other than that, does little to alter the standard user interface supplied by Google. So, for apps, you’ll be shopping the regular Android Market.I’ll explain everything you need to know about the devices and apps b…………… continues on Android Apps Appolicious
