LG Debuts 4 New Phones and a Fancy Smartwatch
News from Wired:

The LG Watch Urbane. We’ve seen it before, but LG has now announced the availability of an LTE variant that doesn’t run Android Wear, but does make calls without a tethered phone. LG

BARCELONA, SPAIN—Today at the Mobile World Congress trade show, LG debuted its latest range of devices, including two wearables and a small fleet of Android smartphones.

Previously announced two weeks ago, the Watch Urbane is an elegant Android Wear smartwatch made with gold- and silver-coated metal. It also comes with a leather replaceable strap that can be replaced with any 22mm-wide band. The Watch Urbane is LG’s third entry into the Android Wear category. In fact, even though it’s designed to look like an everyday luxury timepiece, it has a lot in common with company’s much more sporty G Watch R. Both of them feature a circular, 1.3-inch P-OLED display with 320×320 pixels resolution and 349 pixel density. Both cases house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 4GB of eMMC storage and 512MB of RAM. Even the battery life is the same: two full-days, thanks to the 410 mAh Li-Ion cell. Further technical details include dust and water IP67 certification, 9-axis sensors, barometer…………… continues on Wired

LG debuts Optimus G Pro ahead of Mobile World Congress
News from CNET Australia:

LG, seemingly unable to keep a secret, has teased a 5.5-inch version of the Optimus G Pro.

Presumably arriving in late February at Mobile World Congress (MWC), the handset aims to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

A teaser image posted on an LG Facebook page provides an early glimpse of the larger, yet familiar, design. Although the official details for the 5.5-inch handset are light, early rumours suggest that a quad-core 1.7GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera are in order. For all practical purposes, the new phone looks to be a larger take on the model headed to Japan this year.

As the fourth LG phone outed this week, the LG Optimus G Pro will find a home in South Korea in the coming weeks. It is unclear what other markets might offer the new smartphone. We hope to learn the full details of the new line of Optimus handsets at Mobile World Congress later this month.

LG Nexus 4 vs HTC M7 (HTC One) in irresistible comparison
News from Phones Review:

One of the most-talked about smartphones at the moment is the LG Nexus 4, offering Google’s pure vanilla Android. Despite the fact that it has been difficult to get hold of since its release late last year, that hasn’t been enough to put people off waiting for it and demand continues to be high. Will that demand be so high though when the HTC M7 comes out, rumored for release later this month? We’re taking a comparison look at the LG Nexus 4 vs. HTC M7 (HTC One), two pretty irresistible devices.

If you’re wondering why we have put HTC One in brackets it’s because this phone has also been recently rumored to be launching with the HTC One name instead of the M7, causing a certain amount of confusion. For the rest of this article and for consistency we’ll refer to it as the HTC M7 though.

The Nexus 4 is thought to have sold around

Wednesday, June 13th, 2012

LG Debuts White Flavor Optimus LTE 2 Smartphone
News from The Driod Guy:

LG is introducing an all-white flavor of the Optimus LTE 2 smartphone in South Korea. The earlier version, which came in black, had been available in the country since the latter part of May. It sold around 150,000 units in South Korea in only ten days, which makes it one of the most popular phones that LG ever released. It also carries the distinction of being the world’s first phone that offers 2 GB of RAM.

LG, which is based in Korea, seems to be enjoying some success in their home country, reportedly selling 410,000 smartphones monthly in the region, with 330,000 of them capable of LTE connectivity. Apparently, it wants to add to this success with the release of the white handset.

The specifications of the white Optimus LTE 2 are exactly the same as the black Optimus LTE 2. The Optimus LTE 2 sports a candybar form factor. Its capacitive IPS LCD boasts of True HD quality and spans 4.7 inches and has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels at a pixel density of 312 ppi. It also comes with a full RGB matrix, which gives high-quality images comparable to those from the Samsung Galaxy S3’s PenTile technology. This screen supports multi-touch gestures and comes with a scratch-resistant glass, a light sensor, and a proximity sensor.

Its hardware includes a Qualcomm MSM8960 system chip, a fast dual-core processor at 1500 MHz, 2 GB of RAM, and 16000…………… continues on The Driod Guy

ASUS PadFone review – Engadget
News from ASUS PadFone review – Engadget:

Image

It’s been a long ride for the PadFone. ASUS’ last smartphone was the Android 2.1-powered A10 from two years ago, then five months later the company ended its smartphone partnership with Garmin (though they’re still friends). The next thing we knew, the outfit was openly considering Windows Phone, but obviously nothing came to fruition despite its E600 engineering units floating about in the wild. Meanwhile, a bunch of Android Eee Pads started entering the market to get a slice of that hot tablet pie.

Eventually, the PadFone shocked the industry…………… continues on ASUS PadFone review – Engadget
