LG announces 4 new phones ahead of Mobile World Congress, the G4 isn’t one …
News from PC Pro:

LG may well be unleasing its new flagship smartphone, the LG G4, at Mobile World Congress, but ahead of the March show it’s announced that it’ll be launching four new mid-range smartphones.

Known as the Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy, LG’s new smartphones build on “LG’s design language to bring optimised performance and effortless user experience to a broader range of consumers,” says an LG press release. PR-speak aside, this means these four new phones, available in both 4G and 3G versions, will be built to premium specifications, but offered at affordable prices.

The Magna features a 5in HD display with 294ppi, a 1.2GHz Quad-core processor, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB of internal storage, and 1GB of RAM. It comes with a 2,540mAh removable battery, placing it in a similar range to the upcoming Samsung S6 in terms of capacity. LG debuts Optimus G Pro ahead of Mobile World Congress
News from CNET Australia:

LG, seemingly unable to keep a secret, has teased a 5.5-inch version of the Optimus G Pro.

The 5.5-inch LG Optimus G Pro will take the fight directly to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Presumably arriving in late February at Mobile World Congress (MWC), the handset aims to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

A teaser image posted on an LG Facebook page provides an early glimpse of the larger, yet familiar, design. Although the official details for the 5.5-inch handset are light, early rumours suggest that a quad-core 1.7GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera are in order. For all practical purposes, the new phone looks to be a larger take on the model headed to Japan this year.

As the fourth LG phone outed this week, the LG Optimus G Pro will find a home in South Korea in the coming weeks. It is unclear what other markets might offer the new smartphone. We hope to learn the full details of the new line of Optimus handsets at Mobile World Congress later this month.

LG Nexus 4 vs HTC M7 (HTC One) in irresistible comparison
News from Phones Review:

One of the most-talked about smartphones at the moment is the LG Nexus 4, offering Google’s pure vanilla Android. Despite the fact that it has been difficult to get hold of since its release late last year, that hasn’t been enough to put people off waiting for it and demand continues to be high. Will that demand be so high though when the HTC M7 comes out, rumored for release later this month? We’re taking a comparison look at the LG Nexus 4 vs. HTC M7 (HTC One), two pretty irresistible devices.

If you’re wondering why we have put HTC One in brackets it’s because this phone has also been recently rumored to be launching with the HTC One name instead of the M7, causing a certain amount of confusion. For the rest of this article and for consistency we’ll refer to it as the HTC M7 though.

The Nexus 4 is thought to have sold around

Mobile World Congress 2012: Nokia, Asus, Intel, Samsung, And LG

Mobile World Congress 2012: Nokia, Asus, Intel, Samsung, And LG
News from Tom’s Hardware Guide:

Tom’s Hardware spent its first day in Barcelona, Spain at this year’s Mobile World Congress. After a long day of press conferences and private meetings, we wanted to share our experiences before hitting the show floor tomorrow.

Microsoft and Nokia are trying to deliver a Windows Phone 7 ecosystem to as broad of an audience as possible, including a number of budget-constrained segments that don’t typically get much love.

Powered by an 800 MHz single-core Snapdragon processor, the Lumia 610 embodies that effort. Though the phone’s specs might not sound impressive, Microsoft recently lowered the system requirements for WP7, allowing Nokia to introduce a cheap WP7-based phone. Supposedly, it’ll emerge between $ 100 and $ 150.

Interestingly, Nokia isn’t completely dropping its Symbian-based products. Instead, it’s launching the Asha 203, 202, and 302. These phones are aimed at users who don’t really need premium features, but still want basic online connectivity.

LG To Unveil Mozilla Phone At Mobile World Congress?
News from WebProNews:

There are rumors this morning that LG Mozilla may be about to unveil the first smartphone to run Mozilla’s Boot 2 Gecko operating system at the upcoming Mobile World Congress.

Citing “a source close to the matter” ExtremeTech says that the phone could be ready as early as next week, but that the Boot 2 Gecko OS probably won’t be ready for public consumption yet. There are no details yet on pricing or hardware, but the source says that the phone could be available as early as next week, though a mid-2012 date is more likely.

Boot 2 Gecko is a completely open-source mobile operating system designed to use entirely with web-based technology like HTML5 and Javascript. The system is built on the same Linux kernel as Android, though it is not based on Android itself. It relies on the same Gecko rendering engine that powers Firefox.

This rumor comes hot on the heels of Mozilla’s announcement that they would be opening the Mozilla Marketplace to developers at the Mobile World Congress. The Marketplace will host HTML5 web apps that will run in Firefox 13, coming this summer. A B2G-based smartphone…………… continues on WebProNews
