LG Tackles Cloud Streaming Via LG Cloud Beta
News from PC Magazine:

LG on Monday unveiled a beta version of LG Cloud, a new service that will let users access their files online from any LG phone, tablet, or Internet-connected TV.

The service, currently available in the U.S. and Korea, will offer 5GB of free storage per person. Those with an LG Smart TV or LG smartphone will get 50GB of free storage for six months.

LG Cloud is accessible via the LG Cloud app, which can be downloaded from Google Play, LG SmartWorld, or lgecloud.com. It will automatically sync content across devices – photos and videos taken on smartphones can be viewed on the PC or TV, for example, even 3D content.

Users are limited to 2GB per upload.

LG insisted that LG Cloud provides very little lag time because content is streamed, not downloaded first.

“The difference is in LG’s Real-time Streaming Transcoding technology. The conversion happens on the server in realtime, not on the…………… continues on PC Magazine

LG Lucid review: Cheap Android smartphone surprises, but has familiar problem
News from The Jackson Citizen Patriot – MLive.com:

The LG Lucid is $ 79.99 with a two-year contract with Verizon Wireless.

The LG Lucid is one of the worst names for a smartphone, but I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of this value-priced device.

With hot Android phones such as the Galaxy Nexus costing $ 299 with a two-year contract, shoppers often turn to cheaper alternatives and end up with a crummy phone but the same monthly service payments as the more expensive devices.

I haven’t reviewed one LG smartphone that I could recommend, but the Lucid, available for $ 79 online with a two-year contract, had more going for it than I expected.

The Good
Performance:
The 1.2GHz dual-core processor zips along and I didn’t experience any lag with the interface, playing games and using apps. Unlike the other LG phone I recently reviewed, I didn’t have issues with bugs or crashes. The phone has 8 gigabytes of internal storage and m…………… continues on The Jackson Citizen Patriot – MLive.com

LG Cloud looms for 2D/3D multimedia streaming

LG Cloud looms for 2D/3D multimedia streaming
News from SlashGear:

LG has revealed its own multi-platform cloud media service, LG Cloud, squirting content between PCs, smartphones, tablets and smart TVs. Compatible with 2D and 3D content, the LG Cloud introduces the company’s Real-time Streaming Transcoding technology to perform server-based media conversion to suit whatever device you’re currently using; so, if you’re on your Android smartphone but want to watch a Full HD .MKV file, the film will be automatically converted to suit the handset.

“Most companies today only see the cloud as a storage device or in the case of YouTube or Flickr, only for one type of content,” new LG Cloud chief Havis Kwon said of the service, conveniently overlooking Apple’s iCloud. “LG makes the devices that millions of people watch content on so we can set a new yardstick for ease of use by setting up our own cloud service. Tomorrow’s consumers don’t want to go to one cloud for music, another cloud for video, another location for photos and yet another cloud for their office files. In the end, our solution is about making life more convenient.”

LG’s Prada Phone 3.0 is the third smartphone the company has developed in conjunction with Italian fashion label Prada following the LG Prada (KE850) and the LG Prada (KF900). Described by LG as a smartphone that combines “style and substance”, the Prada Phone 3.0 has a nice design and some handy software but has too many flaws to recommend amongst excellent competition.

As you would expect from a phone emblazoned with the famous Prada logo, the LG Prada Phone 3.0 definitely looks the part. LG phone buyers get free cloud storage
News from TG Daily:

If you own an Android-powered LG phone, congratulations – 50 GB of cloud storage is yours, courtesy of Box.com.

The mobile manufacturer has teamed up with the online file-storing service in an effort to get a differentiating advantage over other Android phone makers.

It’s also an opportunity for Box, which offers 50 GB of free storage to iPhone and iPad owners as well, to strengthen its brand.

“Android mobile adoption is growing at an unprecedented rate and by working with LG, we are bringing the full power of the cloud to those users. To take full advantage of mobile computing, it is essential that users never have to worry about storage limitations, and we believe that LG’s efforts combined with the capabilities of Box will be a turning point for both the mobile device and cloud storage categories,” said Box CEO Aaron Levie in a statement.

LG Nitro HD hands-on
News from Engadget:

AT&T stole some of LG’s thunder earlier this week when it unveiled the company’s LTE flagship — the Nitro HD — before the handset’s official coming out soirée. Well, tonight LG’s gone and thrown that fete anyway, introducing us (once again) to its 4.5-incher. But you have to wonder why the company’s even bothering to roll out yet another Gingerbread-baked device when Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus is already out of the gate and leading the Android charge with ICS — not to mention the current availabilit…………… continues on Engadget
