LG Venice (Boost Mobile)
News from PC Magazine:

By Alex Colon

If you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, then you shouldn’t judge a smartphone by its specs. Case in point: Based on specs alone, the $ 219.99 LG Venice should be able to hold its own against other similarly priced phones in Boost Mobile’s lineup. And while that should make this a three and-a-half or four-star phone, a litany of bugs renders it occasionally unusable. That turns what could have been a good smartphone into one we can’t recommend.

LG Nexus 4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3: Google Phone More Expensive Due to Low …
News from International Business Times AU:

The LG-made smart phone Google Nexus 4 is currently facing the dilemma of low supply and high demand.

As a consequence, LG Nexus 4 price is more expensive compared to Samsung Galaxy S3 that is easily obtainable worldwide.

Despite the reappearance at the Google Play Store, LG was unsuccessful in meeting the consumers’ increasing demand resulting to a disastrous 4 to 5 weeks shipping delay for the 16GB Nexus 4 and a much worse delay of 4 to 9 weeks for the 8GB base model shipment.

LG Nexus 4 with a 16GB memory is worth $ 700. The smart phone runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 with a 2GB RAM and 8GB or 16GB storage capacity. It also sports a 4.7-inch IPS display with 768 x 1280 pixels resolution which shows an impressive 318 pixels per inch density.

The LG Nexus 4 additional feature is a front-facing HD video chat camera plus a back-facing primary 8-megapixel camera.

On the other hand, a 16GB Samsung Galaxy S3 costs $ 550 with some third-party retailers offering a reduced price of $ 490 to $ 520 to consumers.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 ships with Android Ice Cream Sandwich but a Jelly Bean update can be applicable on the first boot with a dual-core processor and 2GB RAM in the United States or a quad-core processor plus a 1GB RAM if the device is purchased overseas.

The smart phone has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pix…………… continues on International Business Times AU

LG Rumor Reflex (Boost Mobile)

LG Rumor Reflex (Boost Mobile)
News from CNET:

Editors note: Because they are nearly identical devices, our review for the LG Rumor Reflex on Sprint’s network is the same for Boost Mobile’s.

Psst…have you heard the news? The LG Rumor is back, and this time it’s called the Rumor Reflex. With a slightly bumped up camera, sleeker design, new touch screen, and a more expansive keyboard, the Reflex is a welcomed face-lift. Although it doesn’t come with all the high-tech specs of a smartphone, it’s a handset that can do the basics reliably and with no fuss.

The device is available on Sprint’s 3G network for $ 29.99 after you sign a two-year contract and send in a mail-in $ 50 rebate. If you don’t want to commit yourself at all, this device is also available on Boost Mobile’s network for $ 79.99.

Design
The LG Rumor Reflex measures 4.2 inches tall, 2.1 inches wide, and is 0.6 inch thick. It weighs 4.7 ounces, which is light for a phone that has a physical keyboard. Though that keyboard also makes it thick, the Rumor Reflex has a petite build and it fits compactly in my hand. Also, it easily slipped into my clutch, and into my jeans pocket.

Front and center is a 3-inch WQVGA capacitive touch screen. Its resolution is only 400×240 pixels and it can disp…………… continues on CNET

LG Chem Profit Falls on Slowing Plastics Demand in China
News from Bloomberg:

LG Chem Ltd. (051910), South Korea’s biggest chemicals maker, reported a worse-than-estimated 42 percent decline in first-quarter profit as demand in China waned for materials used to make plastic and synthetic rubber.

Net income fell to 380.9 billion won ($ 334 million) in the three months ended March 31 from 656.6 billion won a year earlier, the Seoul-based company said today in a regulatory filing. That compares with the 474 billion won average of 18 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Sales rose 5 percent to 5.75 trillion won.

Demand for LG Chem’s products waned as China’s economic growth slowed for the fifth straight quarter, expanding 8.1 percent in the first three months. Business may pick up in the current quarter, aided by stable naphtha prices and seasonal demand, LG Chem said today in its statement to investors.

“The earnings were hit by slow demand in China, which is the biggest market,” Kim Seu…………… continues on Bloomberg

LG Optimus Vu available unlocked, but not cheap
News from CNET:

by Eric Mack March 6, 2012 11:50 AM PST

LG’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy Note is now on sale in Korea, but for a big markup over its competitor.

Apparently the privilege of using a stylus on an out-sized phone is worth a few hundred bucks these days.

(Credit: LG)

The Samsung Galaxy Note officially has some competition in the world of huge phone/tablet hybrids that work with a stylus–coming from another Korean company, LG, and its 5-inch Optimus Vu.

South Korea’s second stab at a mega-phone went on sale in the country today with an unlocked price of about $ 900. The LTE-enabled Optimus Vu comes with Android Gingerbread, but LG promises an Ice Cream Sandwich update is just around the corner.

LG seems to be positioning the Optimus Vu as an e-reader alternative, touting an IPS display and 4:3 aspect ratio that provides “optimum readability” (according to Google Translate.)

LG Marquee (Boost Mobile)

LG Marquee (Boost Mobile)
News from CNET:

Although the Marquee phone was released just last month, you might have seen it before on Sprint’s network (and perhaps you saw it even before then, since the LG Marquee is Sprint’s version of the LG Optimus Black).

If you’re more of a prepaid, no-contract sort of person, you can get this device on Boost Mobile’s 3G network for about $ 279. It’s the most expensive phone that’s available on the carrier’s site (Sprint’s handset is $ 99.99, but that’s only after you sign up for a two-year contract and send in a mail-in rebate). Though it also has a lot of features, including a brilliant 4-inch Nova display, a sleek design, and a decent camera with numerous settings, the internal lag time was annoying, especially for a device that requires so much cash up front.

Editors’ note: This review borrows from our LG Marquee (Sprint) review, where some of the devices’ design and features overlap.

Design
Just like the LG Marquee for Sprint, the Boost Mobile model is remarkably slim and lightweight. At 4.8 inches long by 2.52 inches wide by 0.36 inch deep and weighing in at an amazing 3.95 ounces, the Marquee is one of the thinnest and lightest Android handsets I…………… continues on CNET

LG Prada 3.0 P940 mobile phone review
News from GMA News:

LG’s newest flagship phone isn’t just any Android phone, it’s a Prada phone. And while we boys might not appreciate that little fact, the fashion-conscious crowd certainly has a taste for it.

The LG Prada 3.0 seems like any other other Android phone, except for the fact that it’s been co-branded by LG with Prada, a popular brand in the fashion industry. This is actually the 3rd iteration of the LG Prada line but the first one to have Android in it.

The Prada 3.0 has a very thin profile, even thinner than the LG Optimus Black, at 8.5mm. That’s actually the same thinness as the Galaxy S2.

The design is simple yet elegant — it’s all black with chrome accents on the side and a little bit of metal parts for buttons.

At the top end is the power button, a slider compartment for the micro-USB port and a dedicated camera button (these are all highly-polished, metallic parts). The 3.5 audio port is also located on the same row. The volume controls are found on the left and the speakers are placed at the back.

The placement of the dedicated camera shutter is a bit odd but the girls from LG explained that this easily activates the front-facing camera and take self-portrait shots.

The 4.3-inch display is among the brightest w…………… continues on GMA News
