Samsung Galaxy S6 vs LG G4: Which Phone Offers Best Android Experience?
News from Latin Post:

First Posted: Aug 17, 2015 03:31 PM EDT

The technology put inside today’s smartphones is becoming more and more advanced. Two excellent options are the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the LG G4, according to Extreme Tech.

Comparing the two smartphones, the first difference can be seen in screen size: The LG G4 offers a 5.5-inch screen while the Samsung Galaxy S6 is just a 5.1-inch display.

The displays are not created equally though. Samsung’s Super AMOLED display provides a 2560 x 1440 resolution and 577 pixels per-inch (PPI). That display is the sharpest currently offered on any flagship smartphone. The LG G4 has the bigger 5.5-inch screen, but it is not an AMOLED display. Instead it uses an LCD display. This leads to 538 PPI and colors that are sometimes too cool. The AMOLED display looks better and displays higher quality images.

The processor used in the LG G4 is the older Qualcomm Snapdragon 808. Since there were problems with the Snapdragon 810 overheating, LG decided to go with the Snapdragon 808, which is six cores instead of eight. Samsung decided to go away from Qualcomm all together and crea…………… continues on Latin Post

Rumor mill: LG’s rumored Nexus phone seen in new leaked photos
News from FierceWireless:

Rumors have been spreading since May that Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is working with two OEMs to create its next Nexus-branded phones running Android M software: a 5.7-inch Huawei device and a 5.2-inch phone from LG Electronics. Now, images purporting to show the LG-made device have surfaced.

The photo, originally posted in the Nexus Indonesia Google+ community, shows the back of a white Nexus device with a sticker that appears to have LG’s logo on it. At the top of the phone is a camera lens and what appears to be a rumored fingerprint scanner.

As Engadget notes, the camera appears to have a laser focus, dual-LED flash, which has popped up in recent flagship LG phones, like the G4. The phone also appears to have a plastic backing, which could bring down the final price of the LG-made Nexus phone. The Nexus 5, which LG produced in 2013, sold for $ 349 unlocked, while the Motorola Mobility-made Nexus 6, a 6-inch phablet, sold for $ 649.

The rumored Huawei device is expected to have more high-end specifications and cost more. Last year Google unveiled the latest Nexus devices in mid-October and could choose to do so again.

A July report from the Information, citing unnamed sources, said that the phone…………… continues on FierceWireless

South Korean electronics company LG has recently been making a splash in the smartphone arena. While its share of the market is nowhere near the levels held by Apple and Samsung, LG Android-based smartphones have found their niche among specific users worldwide.

LG smartphones have unique features such as the Knock Code, which allows users to lightly knock on their screens in user-defined patterns to unlock their smartphones. LG has also started using the latest version of Android, Android 5.0 Lollipop, in the devices that it manufactures.

LG G2 Android Lollipop update moves closer
News from Phones Review:

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update is slowly making its way to more devices and we’ve already informed readers that it has now reached the LG G3 flagship in some regions. That may lead owners of the previous year’s LG G2 to wonder when they will be treated to Lollipop, and now the LG G2 Android Lollipop update is moving closer.

LG was one of the first manufacturers to release Lollipop to its flagship device, and recently the update arrived for some users of the G3 in the UK. However, as is always the way with these kinds of updates they can take varying amounts of time to arrive for all regions, and carrier versions are often the last to receive them.

Up to now we haven’t heard much about Lollipop for the LG G2, but now a leaked screenshot has emerged showing an LG G2 running Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. This is in testing for the LG G2 F320L LTE-A model for South Korea, and it’s no surprise that the update has popped up in South Korea first. However, once it arrives for one version the Lollipop update is likely to start appearing for other models of the G2 over the next few weeks and spread to further regions over the coming months.

iPhone 6 Plus vs. LG G3: The Best of of Both Worlds
News from Paste Magazine:

When it comes to buzz, the iPhone 6 Plus is still all the rage. It’s still commanding headlines in the media, getting people’s attention in public, and the talk of the town for non-tech types. However, it’s certainly not the only smartphone worth considering.

In addition to many other great Android alternatives, LG’s flagship Android phone, the G3, goes toe-to-toe with the 6 Plus in pretty much every way. It was released earlier this year, but it’s still a beauty to behold. The problem isn’t that the iPhone 6 Plus is here, but just that the G3 is getting less attention than it should.

Both phones carry the same 5.5-inch size screen and are two of the most premium devices you can buy. But which is right for you? Let’s take a deeper look and see how they compare.

Display

Beyond both phones sporting a 5.5-inch screen, the displays are still quite different. One of the main differentiators of LG’s G3 is its Quad HD resolution. With four times the screen resolution of a 720p HD s…………… continues on Paste Magazine

Design and Display

Nexus 5 has a 5-inch screen display rendering a resolution of 1080x 1920 pixels with a density of 445 ppi, which is even higher than G2′s 423 ppi despite its larger 5.2-inch screen. However, Versus says that the LG G2 has more screen for every bit of side and top bottom bezel, meaning the face of the phone is 75% display, even better than the alphadogs iPhone 5s and Galaxy’s 60%.

LG G3 Beat: An Underpowered mini?
News from Indiatimes.com:

by Rutu Ladage , IndiaTimes | September 18, 2014, 2:00 pm IST

What is it that makes LG G3 ‘the LG G3′? It’s the looks, the design and the all new Laser Auto Focus camera. And while LG has launched multiple sub-variants of the LG G3, looks like LG G3 Beat is the official ‘mini’ version though if you look at specifications, the phone is not that ‘mini’ at all! But with half the specs of the lG G3 at half the price, this is the closest LG G3 variants have come to a miniature so far.

LG G3 Beat

LG G3 Beat comes with a 5-inch display though forget QuadHD, you do not even get an FHD on this one. The LG G3 Beat comes with a regular HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 293ppi. Clearly, LG is not banking on their display power for the budget G3. The processor power is also halved and the G3 Beat sports a quad-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor with 1GB RAM. Asus Zenfone 5 vs LG Volt vs LG G2 Mini
News from Beautiful Features and Price … – The Fuse Joplin:

There have been new additions lately in the smartphone market that will capture it unexpectedly. Here you can find our review of some average smartphones that have been currently launched. These devices come out of the box with impressive features, surprising the market. Now we would like to make a comparison between the LG Volt, LG G2 Mini and Asus Zenfone5.

LG Volt

First, the LG Volt is the handset with a smooth look, which has a quite big display of 5.18 by 2.6 inches that makes it noticeable and in accordance with the trend of large screens for smartphones in the last few years. The screen covers and is the first thing that you will notice when holding the phone. The size of the screen is what makes the phone stand out and it is the best future of it, although the screen resolution is fairly unremarkable (540×960 pixels). Also, the phone weighs 4.8g. which is awesome considering all the specs that this device from LG provides. Firstly, it is a touchscreen mobile with no exterior buttons.

The display screen has also scratch resistance and it should make it a long lasting phone, when handle properly. The essential asset to this LG is its processing strength; it comes with a Quad-Core processor of 1200 MHz and it enables you to use many applications without a problem. The battery unit offers impressive talk-time of 24 hours, w…………… continues on Beautiful Features and Price … – The Fuse Joplin

Is the LG G3 ‘the best Android phone ever’? Well…
News from Computerworld:

Plug in, turn on. Veteran Android journalist JR Raphael goes beyond the headlines to serve up a fresh mix of Android news, views, and how-to’s. Try it with margarine for a low-cal treat!

Have you noticed how much smartphone reviewers love superlatives?

Seriously — it’s insane. I’ve lost count of the number of headlines I’ve seen proclaiming the LG G3 to be “the best Android phone ever” and other things along those lines. Some of ‘em even started showing up from U.S. publications before anyone had actually used a U.S. model of the phone (and remember, the international model didn’t fully work on U.S. networks!).

When you follow tech news long enough, it’s really no surprise. Practically every major flagship phone that comes out is

LG’s new flagship G3 phone is good, but lacks pizazz
News from The Seattle Times:

Originally published August 22, 2014 at 3:24 PM | Page modified August 22, 2014 at 5:52 PM

If Samsung represents one extreme in the move to add new bells and whistles to smartphones, LG seems to be aiming for the other end of the spectrum.

In its Galaxy S line of phones, Samsung has taken the kitchen-sink approach each year by adding a host of new features, from new ways to shoot photos to new hardware elements like pulse monitors.

But too often, the add-ons have been either poorly conceived or partly developed.

LG takes the opposite approach. With its new flagship smartphone, the G3, the company focuses on only a handful of new features, most of which are subtle improvements rather than flashy advances.

I like the idea, but I think LG may have carried things too far. The G3 is a good phone, but it’s not exciting.

Like many other Android flagship phones these days, the G3 touts a jumbo-sized screen, a long-lived battery and a fast quad-core processor.

But unlike those phones, the G3’s interface is relatively unmodified from standard Android. And its tweaks — like its three-page home screen that flips like pages in a book — are fairly subtle.

LG has sought to distinguish the G3 not through its interface or the size of its screen but through the resolution of its display. It’s one of the first phones…………… continues on The Seattle Times

LG G3 review: the company's best phone yet

Bigger, higher resolution, simpler to use. That’s how we described LG’s latest flagship, the G3, when we finally got our hands on it last week. The headline feature is, without a doubt, that Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440) screen. I’ve been gazing at it intensely since the review unit landed in my hand. But, the G3′s not just a one-trick pony; there’s a lot going on under that “metallic skin.” Good thing there’s a full Engadget review here to tell you all about it.

Nexus 5 vs LG G2 – KitKat support, price and future proofing
News from Load The Game:

Recent developments have brought two solid phones to our attention once again. First, we have the Google Nexus 5, which we now know will be getting Android KitKat 4.4.3. In fact, the updates for the phone are already starting to roll out, so that’s one extra reason why the Nexus 5 still proves to be relevant and powerful, despite starting to show it’s age somewhat. On the other hand, we’re talking about the LG G2. LG’s flagship phone for 2013 is now getting replaced by the LG G3, a smartphone that’s already available in Asia and will become available in Europe and the United States at the end of July.

The LG G3 already impressed press members and those that were lucky enough to get some hands-on time with the device at its launch event. It’s every bit as good as the LG G2 proved to be in 2013, and might just be the top co…………… continues on Load The Game

Best Android Phones of 2014: LG G2, Nexus 5, Galaxy S4, HTC One, and Moto …
News from Latin Post:

First Posted: Apr 08, 2014 05:11 PM EDT

There are a lot of brands for Android phone users to choose from and each one is seemingly better than the other. Here we compare five leading Android phones, LG G2, Nexus 5, Galaxy S4, HTC One and Moto X in terms of processing power, screen resolution and camera quality.

Processing Power

In this aspect, almost all of the models are at the same level as they have really strong processing power. However, Nexus 5 and LG G2 have the upper hand as they make use of the Snapdragon 800 processors. They are slightly better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 used for both the HTC One and Galaxy S4. LG G2 is deemed to be the fastest device and is more or less the winner in this factor. Moto X on the other hand is quite a unique choice since it has a different approach. It makes use of an X8 chipset with Snapdragon S4 Pro inside. There are certain dedicated processors for various controls.
