AT&T’s LG Thrill gets an update – to Android 2.3
News from Android Community:

The HTC Vivid has Ice Cream Sandwich! Ten other phones and tablets are getting it too! It’s like software updates are eggs and AT&T’s the Easter bunny! The latest bit of news is that the LG Thrill is getting an update – too bad it’s just Gingerbread. Yes, the forlorn high-end phone has been running Froyo officially all this time, and now (a mere 15 months after Gingerbread became available and almost a year to the day after the phone was announced) it’s finally getting an update to Android 2.3. Thrill owners, try to contain your joy – this has got to be like being the one kid who found his egg rotten.

AT&T’s Thrill 4G is a rebranded version of the Optimus 3D, a respectable phone even by today’s standards. A 1Ghz dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM should make Gingerbread fly, even with LG’s custom skin running on top. The phone is one of just a handful of models that can display lenticular glasses-free 3D on its 4.3-inch, 800×480 LCD screen. 8GB of storage space is alright, but AT&T als…………… continues on Android Community

Huawei Pinnacle (MetroPCS)

Huawei Pinnacle

I haven’t used the word “fun” to describe a phone for a long time, but the thought crossed my mind after I began playing with the Huawei Pinnacle for MetroPCS. No, the portrait QWERTY cell phone doesn’t have flashing lights like the LG dLite, and it won’t project images on a wall like the Samsung Galaxy Beam, but it does provide an engaging user experience and some colorful accents on the chassis.

This is the phone you get when you want to focus on texts, and on personal-assistant applications. However, the smaller 2.4-inch screen, sluggish processor, and slower 2.5G network speeds make waiting for Internet a real drag. And unfortunately, it stumbled on call quality.

The price is one sweet spot. Originally $ 49.99, the Pinnacle now costs $ 19 after a $ 30 mail-in rebate. Considering all the goodies inside — including a music player, hooks into social networks and e-mail, and the ability to create folders, to name a few — the Pinnacle is a nice surprise.

LG Thrill 4G vs Samsung Galaxy S2? AT&T’s first 3D phone delayed
News from PopHerald.com:

AT&T wants to challenge the Galaxy S2 with a 3D LG phone?

New report has confirmed that AT&T is delaying the launch of the LG Thrill 4G.

Looks like LG fans need to wait for few more weeks because PC Magazine has confirmed that AT&T’s first 3D Android phone will not arrive online and in stores until August 21st. Apparently, the rescheduling of the Thrill 4G’s release was first heralded by a Radio Shack document leaked by Android Central claiming that instead of August 7th, 3D and Android fans must wait for at least 3 more weeks.

LG Thrill 4G is one of the most popular Android handsets this quarter, not only because it is AT&T’s first 3D Android handset, but also the phone’s surprisingly cheaper tag price of $ 99.99 only if bought with a 2 year AT&T contract. Under the hood, the LG Thrill 4G is powered by 1 GHz dual-core Texas Instruments-helmed OMAP4, which should allow LG to include the Netflix application out of the box.
