Samsung Galaxy S6 vs LG G4: Which Phone Offers Best Android Experience?
News from Latin Post:

First Posted: Aug 17, 2015 03:31 PM EDT

The technology put inside today’s smartphones is becoming more and more advanced. Two excellent options are the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the LG G4, according to Extreme Tech.

Comparing the two smartphones, the first difference can be seen in screen size: The LG G4 offers a 5.5-inch screen while the Samsung Galaxy S6 is just a 5.1-inch display.

The displays are not created equally though. Samsung’s Super AMOLED display provides a 2560 x 1440 resolution and 577 pixels per-inch (PPI). That display is the sharpest currently offered on any flagship smartphone. The LG G4 has the bigger 5.5-inch screen, but it is not an AMOLED display. Instead it uses an LCD display. This leads to 538 PPI and colors that are sometimes too cool. The AMOLED display looks better and displays higher quality images.

The processor used in the LG G4 is the older Qualcomm Snapdragon 808. Since there were problems with the Snapdragon 810 overheating, LG decided to go with the Snapdragon 808, which is six cores instead of eight. Samsung decided to go away from Qualcomm all together and crea…………… continues on Latin Post

Rumor mill: LG’s rumored Nexus phone seen in new leaked photos
News from FierceWireless:

Rumors have been spreading since May that Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is working with two OEMs to create its next Nexus-branded phones running Android M software: a 5.7-inch Huawei device and a 5.2-inch phone from LG Electronics. Now, images purporting to show the LG-made device have surfaced.

The photo, originally posted in the Nexus Indonesia Google+ community, shows the back of a white Nexus device with a sticker that appears to have LG’s logo on it. At the top of the phone is a camera lens and what appears to be a rumored fingerprint scanner.

As Engadget notes, the camera appears to have a laser focus, dual-LED flash, which has popped up in recent flagship LG phones, like the G4. The phone also appears to have a plastic backing, which could bring down the final price of the LG-made Nexus phone. The Nexus 5, which LG produced in 2013, sold for $ 349 unlocked, while the Motorola Mobility-made Nexus 6, a 6-inch phablet, sold for $ 649.

The rumored Huawei device is expected to have more high-end specifications and cost more. Last year Google unveiled the latest Nexus devices in mid-October and could choose to do so again.

A July report from the Information, citing unnamed sources, said that the phone…………… continues on FierceWireless

News from BGR:

LG in a few days will take the wraps off the LG G4, its 2015 flagship handset designed to fight against Samsung’s Galaxy S6 models and HTC’s One M9. The device is hardly a secret anymore, as not only has LG started to tease various features of the handset, but a consistent leak earlier this week revealed many details about the smartphone. While the leaks so far revealed the phone will indeed be one of the best handsets of the year, it’ll also disappoint certain fans, G for Games has found out.

4 brand new Android phones you might want this year instead of the Galaxy S6
News from BGR:

The Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 may have stolen the show at MWC 2015, especially the Galaxy S6 edge version, but that doesn’t mean all smartphone buyers currently considering a new Android handset will go for a high-end device. Nor should they, since the S6 is ridiculously expensive and there will be plenty of cheaper Android devices launching soon, running Android 5.0 Lollipop right out of the box.

In what follows, we’ll be ta…………… continues on BGR

Is this our first look at the LG G4?
News from Phandroid.com:

Talk about the LG G4 at AndroidForums.com!

Every company falls victim to a leak or two ahead of their flagship devices’ official unveiling, and LG is no different. The LG G4 has escaped our grasps for far too long, but we might have just gotten our first look at the thing.

Surprise, surprise: it looks like almost every LG flagship device we’ve seen the past couple of years, rear button placement and all. The leak was provided by @onleaks, which is manned by one of the editors from credible French technology blog NowhereElse.Fr.

We’d say that’s pretty good reason to believe this leak will hold up, but if the HTC One M9 debacle taught us anything it’s that no one truly knows anything until the official goods are delivered. It’s…………… continues on Phandroid.com

LG G3 Android Lollipop update arrives for UK

LG G3 Android Lollipop update arrives for UK
News from Phones Review:

If you have the flagship LG G3 smartphone and are in the UK then we have some news today that’s likely to be very interesting to you. Since Android 5.0 Lollipop released it has so far reached relatively few devices, but now the LG G3 Android Lollipop update is arriving for the UK, bringing a major upgrade to your device.

We’ve already seen the update arrive for some Nexus devices as well as a few Motorola handsets and selected others, and back in early November we reported that LG had beaten many other manufacturers to the starting line with Lollipop. At that time LG announced that G3 owners would start to receive the update and that the first region to get it would be Poland with other key markets to receive it in the “near future.”

Even once an update releases for a device in one region it can take some weeks and even months for it to arrive to all regions and carrier models. Now it’s reported that the Android Lollipop update for the LG G3 has reached the UK and is currently being seeded to models on Vodafone UK. Now it has arrived for the phone on one UK carrier it’s likely to become available on further carriers soon.

LG G3 Screen Considered Lower Quality than Chinese Entry Phones at 2.5x Price
News from BusinessKorea:

The G3 Screen with LG Electronics’ own application processor (AP) is suffering from sluggish sales, as it is widely acknowledged to deliver low performance for its price. The new handset is even inferior to the X3 with Huawei’s own AP, but the launch price of the G3 Screen is 2.5 times higher.

According to industry sources on Dec. 1, there is growing controversy over low performance of the G3 Screen in online communities for smartphones. A source in the industry said, “LG has never designed its own AP before, but this is too much,” adding, “Chinese entry-level APs are one generation ahead of LG’s AP.””

It has been more than a month since the new model was introduced to the market on Oct. 24, but it has posted a poor sales growth. An industry source said, “From the beginning of sales, more than 250,000 won [US$ 224] of mobile phone subsidies has been injected. Currently, the device can be purchased at around 200,000 won [US$ 179], but sales volume is pretty low.”

The reason for sluggish sales lies in the fact that the G3 Screen equipped with LG’s first AP Nuclun performs poorly compared to prices. Nuclun is an octa-core processor composed of a 1.5 GHz quad-core chip and a 1.2 GHz quad-core chip, developed with an investment of more than 200 billion won (US$ 179 million) over the past two years.

Industry analysts are saying that LG has yet to sol…………… continues on BusinessKorea

Android Lollipop Coming to Motorola, HTC, LG, Samsung, and Nexus Phones …
News from Christian Post:

Google’s latest mobile operating system, the Android Lollipop is soon to be released to the public but which phones will be getting the updates when it comes out? Much like Android KitKat, it generally depends on what make your phone is and to which carrier you are subscribed but it would seem that most phone manufacturers are already planning to update users to Lollipop when it comes out.

Google’s Nexus line will probably be the first smartphones to get the Lollipop update, whereas the Nexus 6 smartphone and the Nexus 9 tablet already have Android Lollipop out of the box. The Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 are slated to get the update and while there haven’t been any announcements, early November is looking to be a probable date.

HTC on the other hand is planning to get the One M8 and One M7 to Android Lollipop and Jeff Gordon, the company’s global online communications manager, has announced that both phones will be getting the upgrade within 90 days of the software’s release.

Motorola is planning to get Android Lollipop to a large number of their devices, namely the first and second generation Moto X, the Moto G, the Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini.

Top 5 Android smartphones
News from Load The Game:

Let’s pretend for a second, that price won’t matter and we can have all the cash in the world or pretend that companies will willingly give you one week testing periods before charging your credit card. I’m pretending that Samsung, LG, Google and Motorola will gladly give me some high-end Android phones so that I can play with them for a week and give them back if I’m dissatisfied. That’s probably never going to happen, but I would still like to introduce you to my top 5 Android phones list. The smartphones on this list are pure evil, in my opinion, and many of them made me into the tech-freak I am today.

Jokes aside, there are many Android phones to choose from out there, starting from entry level phones for with sub $ 100 price tags like those in the Android One line from Karbonn, Spice an Micromax. Then there are mid-range phones with price tags between $ 200 and $ 400, like the HTC Desire 820, Galaxy Alpha line from Samsung, Sony Xperia E3, Moto G, Lumia 830 and Galaxy Grand Prime. Then there are the high-end flagships which will cost your anywhere between $ 500 and $ 1000. In this category, Android phones like the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, HTC One M8, LG G3, Motorola Moto X, Lumia 1020 or the Oppo Find 7. Had enough? There’s another category, though, the underdog flagship category. You can find phones like the Meizu MX4, Huawei Ascend Mate 7, OnePlus One, Xiaom…………… continues on Load The Game

Top Android phones: Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 vs LG G3 vs Nexus 5
News from Stabley Times:

Android phones bring numerous choices. The Galaxy S5 the most widely known and best-marketed, but how does it measure up to the less visible competition? The HTC One M8 emerges at a time when many expected HTC to fade from the Android landscape. The LG G3 arrives even as LG’s involvement with the Nexus phone comes into question. And the Nexus 5, highly lauded by the relative few who know of it, is still hanging around. Here’s a look at the top Android phones in the market as of right now and the circumstances under which they’re the most and least recommendable.

Galaxy S5: this device gets the bulk of the attention, and sales, within the Android phone market. It has the five-ish inch screen that buyers tend to love. It also comes with a ton of Samsung-specific apps piled on top of the base Android system software. But Samsung just keep delivering flagship phones that are made of cheap plastic, marring their durability and cheapening the experience.

The main reason to consider the Galaxy S5: if you own other Samsung smart devices around the house and want the interoperability. But let’s take a look at what else is out there.

HTC One M8: this device is everything the Galaxy S5 should be. It’s made of strong materials, it’s durable, and it offers fashionable styling. The catch: HTC has been in financial trouble for some time, and the…………… continues on Stabley Times
