Yay for front facing speakers but that front is ugly. Why the hell is the side bezel that thick?

Phone Comparisons: LG G4 vs OnePlus 2
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

Introduction

Do we have a good one for you today – the popular LG G4 goes up against the new OnePlus 2.  The tried and true LG brand competes with the always-controversial OnePlus brand.  LG is a huge company and has been making mobile phones for years and their new LG G4 model is a work of art from its QHD display to its top-notch camera area.  OnePlus is a small Chinese smartphone company, founded less than two years ago and while they put out a great product for the price, they have found it hard to get their smartphone built and out into the market at a fast enough pace.  OnePlus has promised that the OnePlus 2 model will be easier to obtain, which will be good news for both the company and their loyal band of followers.

These two devices have a solid build and premium look to them, especially if you include one of the optional backs.  Despite their heritage, the LG G4 and the OnePlus 2 do share a few common specifications.  For starters, they share the same size display at 5.5-inches and because of that, they are also almost identical…………… continues on Android Headlines – Android News

LG G3, the Samsung Galaxy S5 challenger, appears again in leaked images
News from IBNLive:

New Delhi: LG’s next flagship phone, G3, which will be officially unveiled on May 27, has once again been revealed in leaked images. Famous tipster evleaks has posted a new set of leaked images, suggesting that the phone will come in three colours – black, silver and gold.

Speculations are rife that the phone will have a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with 2560 x 1440 resolution, 32GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM. The phone will run the latest Android OS, Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Under the hood, the G3 will have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processor. If reports are to be believed, the phone will be dust and water resistant. The phone is presumed to be the Samsung Galaxy S5 killer. The LG G3 launch event will take place in six cities across the world on May 27.

LG G3 Pictures And Specs Leak: It’s Utterly Gorgeous
News from Huffington Post UK:

We’ve known for a while that LG’s G3 flagship smartphone is on the way.

We didn’t know it would look this gorgeous.

This set of leaked press images have turned up Friday on EVLeaks and Phone Arena, and they show a phone which is frankly stunning, with three varieties of full metal devices (gold, grey and silver) and the G2′s trademark rear-button.

The phone has an exceptionally thin screen bezel and looks like an even sleeker version of the HTC One M8, minus the double camera and front-facing speakers.

It is thought the phone will feature a huge 5.5-inch QHD display with a 2560 x 1440-pixel resolution, a Snapdragon 801 (standard for the very top-end phones) and 3GB of RAM. All that remains is to see the software involved, the price and contract options, and then to run down to our nearest Dixon Warehouse PC Carphone store and buy one.

Galaxy phones drive Samsung to record profit again
News from San Francisco Chronicle:

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Samsung, the world’s largest technology firm by revenue, reported another record-high quarterly profit as customers flocked to Galaxy smartphones amid the absence of competitors, which helped the South Korean firm outdo rivals even at one of the most challenging times for the global tech industry.

Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday its net profit reached a record-high of 5.2 trillion won ($ 4.5 billion) in the three months ending in June, a 48 percent jump from a year earlier.

But the bottom line was lower than a median market consensus of 5.6 trillion won based on a poll of seven analysts by Yonhap Infomax.

Its second-quarter operating profit spiked 79 percent over a year earlier to 6.7 trillion won and its revenue rose 21 percent to 47.6 trillion won, matching Samsung’s guidance released earli…………… continues on San Francisco Chronicle

LG sells 13.1m phones in Q2 ’12, 44% were smartphones
News from SlashGear:

We know you’re excited about all these financial results, so we’ll just keep them coming. LG has managed a healthy profit overall for the second quarter, up 46% compared to the same period last year, but its cellphone business took a hit. That caused an overall decline in revenues too compared to last year, down by 10.6% to $ 11.16 billion. LG’s cellphone business may not be looking good, but its home entertainment section is looking better than ever.

LG sold 13.1 million phones worldwide in the second quarter, with 44% of those being smartphones, up from 36% last quarter thanks to strong LTE handset deployment. Revenues were down 27.5% year-on-year at $ 2.01 billion, resulting in a loss of $ 49.48 million for that section of the company. LG notes that it plans to rollout further LTE-enabled phones in the second half of the year across the United States and Europe that should bolster its smartphone numbers.

The other part of LG that helped offset the loss in the cellphone division was Home Appliances. Revenues increased to $ 2.50 billion, resulting in a third fold increase in profit to $ 143.23 million. That’s all thanks to a dive…………… continues on SlashGear
