Sprint adds 10-inch Galaxy Tab, LG phones to 4G LTE lineup
News from NBCNews.com:

9 hrs.

A tablet, two phones, and a dongle walk into a bar. Actually, they walk into Sprint’s 4G LTE lineup, but these high-speed devices are no joke.

First there is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, which was released earlier this year to warm reviews but has lost some of its luster to competitors like the recently super-sized Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet. The 10-in. Galaxy Tab has been updated to support Sprint’s 4G LTE network and it’s still as slim as before, but its processor and cameras are lacking compared to the competition.

Next is the LG Optimus G with its huge 4.7-in. HD screen and quad-core processor. Even though it’s a phone, it’s easily more powerful than the Galaxy Tab, and probably not a whole lot easier to fit in your pocket. Sprint’s version has a 13-megapixel camera, which sounds impressive, but as the iPhone 5 has shown, what matters is real-life usage.

If you don’t want quite that much screen real estate, Sprint is also getting the LG Mach (not to be confused with 2010′s Optimus Mach), a full-QWERTY mid-range phone with a 4″ screen and a lot of built-in LG apps for things like note-taking and pictures.

All these Android devices are shipping with ve…………… continues on NBCNews.com

The LG Optimus L9

(Credit: Lynn La/CNET)

SAN DIEGO — At MobileCon 2012, T-Mobile demoed its newest device from LG: the LG Optimus L9. Packed with a dual-core CPU and 4G capabilities, the L9 is the highest-tiered phone of the L-series family. It will be available for the upcoming Fall season, though no pricing has been announced from the carrier.

The Optimus L9 is 5.19-inches tall, 2.69-inches wide, and 0.36-inches thick. It weights 4.41 ounces, and during my brief time with the phone, it felt light in the hand and was comfortable to hold.

Since it falls into LG’s L-series umbrella of phones, its design isn’t anything new. In fact, the build is very similar to the LG Optimus L7 and

Consumer Cellular Adds 2ND Smartphone
News from Twice:

By Joseph Palenchar — TWICE, 1/30/2012

Portland, Ore. – Consumer Cellular, which targets the 50-plus age group with an unusual no-contract postpaid service, has launched its second smartphone as part of a planned smartphone expansion.

The MVNO launched the Android-based 3G LG Thrive at $ 90 plus a one-time $ 35 activation fee. It joins the company’s first smartphone, the 3G Motorola Bravo, whose price was just reduced to $ 140 plus $ 35 activation fee.

The Android-based Bravo, which was the company’s first 3G phone, was originally launched last year at $ 165.

In 2012, the company will make the switch to an all-3G lineup and expand its smartphone selection while it continues to expand beyond its direct-to-consumer roots by rolling out sales through online and brick-and-mortar retailers, CEO John Marick previously told TWICE.

The Thrive features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera and camcorder, access to the Android Market for apps, and the preloaded subscribers-only My Consumer Cellular app, which lets users access billing and account information, usage stats and scan-capable AARP information for member benefits

Market promo pushes LG mobile sales up by 75 percent
News from BusinessDay:

LG electronics says it recorded 75 percent growth sales on its mobile phones in the last quarter of 2011 in the Nigerian market. The increase in sales of various brands of its mobile phones was induced by the market promo the company organised within November and December last year. The star prize of the promo was a four-day all expenses trip to Dubai for two couples.

The promo was a reward system to the company’s customers and a platform to allow its variants of mobile phones, which are not as popular as its television sets, to penetrate the Nigerian bourgeoning market.
Though the company did not disclose the exact income from the sales, but said that the Dubai trip attracted a lot of consumers, pan Nigeria. “Within the promotion, we accounted for more sales,” Bukola Arabome, marketing manager, LG Mobile, told BusinessDay.

At the promo draw  last week to determine various winners of 110 prizes on stake, Jimoh Akeem Ayodeji and Adeseye Debo won the trip to Dubai, while Olusegun Joan Ebun and Balarebe Lamido were among those that won 3D LG phone. Other prizes won included 42 inches television, fridges, microwave and other types of mobile phones.

To qualify for the promo, a customer had to buy LG mobile phone and got raffle ticket. Over the time, firms have offered concession to customers as a way of w…………… continues on BusinessDay

News from Gadget:
21 Oct 2011 by Sean Bacher | Filed in Product Reviews

Android cellphones are being pumped out by various manufactures, often with no features that distinguish one from another. SEAN BACHER finds one that really does separate itself from the rest – but will a 3D phone fly?

Last year LG stole a march on the industry when it introduced the Optimus Prime, the first smartphone to come pre-installed with the Android 2.2, or Froyo, operating system. It was also one of the cheapest smartphones on the market at the time.
