LG’s phone sales are way up, but killing plasma TVs had a cost
News from Engadget:

LG is still trailing Samsung and Apple in total smartphone sales (and profits from them), but the company just revealed its financial data for the last year and has plenty to be happy about. It sold 59.1 million smartphones last year, up nearly a quarter from what it moved in 2013. The report didn’t explain when we can expect the

LG G Flex vs LG G Flex 2
News from TechRadar:

The LG G Flex impressed in a number of ways, not least because it was the world’s first curved smartphone, but ultimately it felt more like an over-priced oddity than anything that was likely to catch on.

LG is obviously serious about curves though, because it’s back with the LG G Flex 2, a smaller yet more powerful and still very much curved phone. So just what has changed? And is the G Flex 2 enough of an improvement to have mainstream appeal?

Read on for a run-down of how these two handsets compare when it comes to their design, screen, power, camera, interface, battery and storage.

LG G Flex vs LG G Flex 2: Design

The LG G Flex and LG G Flex 2 have largely similar designs as you might expect. Both phones have a curved body and buttons on the back, while the front of both phones is almost bezel free at either side of the screen.

But there are some differences. For one thing the LG G Flex 2 is quite a lot smaller and lighter,…………… continues on TechRadar

LG smartphone sales surged 25% in 2014, thanks in part to the success of LG G3

According to industry sources, LG’s smartphone sales grew more than 25 percent year-over-year in 2014, thanks in part to the success of the LG G3.

LG G Flex 2 vs. iPhone 6 Plus
News from Gizmag:

LG’s second stab at a curved and flexible smartphone is a bit less experiment, a bit more flagship. Let’s see how the features and specs of the G Flex 2 compare to those of Apple’s flagship phablet, the iPhone 6 Plus.

Size

The two handsets have identical screen sizes, but the G Flex 2 makes more economical use of its face. It’s 6 percent shorter and 4 percent narrower than the iPhone 6 Plus.

The iPhone is technically 24 percent thinner, but those numbers are skewed a bit, as the G Flex 2 has a tapered back and the above depth only counts its thickest point (it slims down to 7.1 mm at its thinnest points, near the top and bottom edges).

LG flip phone? New leaks show LG rumored to be working on new flip phone

LG flip phone? New leaks show LG rumored to be working on new flip phone
News from ChristianToday:

Twitter/Upleaks

LG has shifted majority of its focus to the higher tier market in order to transform its upcoming flagship device, the G4 in to one of the best performing smartphones of 2015. While the G4 is expected to be in a league of its own, there are other projects that the company is being speculated to be working on. Thanks to @upleaks, a leak related to a smart flip phone has been pinned directly on the company, stating that LG might be gearing up to provide more than just its flagship offering.

This is not the first time that the tech company is rumored to be working on a flip phone. LG introduced its LG Ice Cream back in 2008. Equipped with a rudimentary operating system and mediocre specifications, ranging from a 2.2 inch screen size with a 240 x 320 pixel display combined with a rear 3.15-megapixel camera, the phone was targeted to the Chinese market.

LG topped that by later introducing another similar device which the company called the LG Wine Smart. The device was launched back in September, and featured an app called Kakao, which is an unfamiliar multiplatform text messaging app. It also possessed a screen size of 3.5 inches and…………… continues on ChristianToday

Phone Comparisons: Samsung Galaxy Note Edge vs LG G3

Phone Comparisons: Samsung Galaxy Note Edge vs LG G3
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

Do we have a good one for you today – the new Samsung Galaxy Note Edge goes up against the popular LG G3 flagship from July 2014.  The LG G3 was the first mass-produced/sold smartphone with the newest QHD display, with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and an astounding 538 pixels-per-inch (PPI).  It beat out early rivals, the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8 with their rather pedestrian FHD displays.

The Galaxy Note Edge was almost a complete surprise – we expected the Galaxy Note 4 to be released, but the Galaxy Note Edge was like a surprise that Samsung brought to the party.  It too has the QHD display, only it uses Samsung’s Super AMOLED display technology versus the IPS LCD technology used by the LG G3.  These two Korean devices do share a few items besides their QHD resolution – the main display of the Note Edge is 5.-6-inches versus 5.5-inches on the LG G3, although there is a small 160-pixel display also on the Note Edge…on its curved side.

In the US markets, they both use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, just a different model.  They both…………… continues on Android Headlines – Android News

LG G4 ‘confirmed’ to be skipping MWC 2015, launching May at earliest
News from TechRadar:

MWC 2015 runs from March 2 to 5 and some of the biggest tech companies in the world are expected to flock to Barcelona to show off their newest handsets. However it looks like LG won’t be showing off its upcoming LG G4 smartphone.

According to an unnamed LG executive that spoke to Korean website Chosun, LG is looking to release the G4 no sooner than a year after it launched the LG G3. That handset launched in May 2014, so if the executive is correct we’re unlikely to see the LG G4 until May this year.

Rather than showing off an incomplete handset at MWC 2015, LG will instead continu…………… continues on TechRadar

Revenge of the clamshell: LG may be working on an Android flip phone
News from TechRadar:

We see a lot of phone leak rumours on our beat, but this one has really got us talking: it’s a retro-looking LG flip phone that seems to be running some version of Android.

If you’ve been pining for the old-fashioned form factor but want some modern software to go with it, this could be your dream handset. You can snap it shut with a flourish after calls as if it’s 2005.

LG actually already has a clamshell phone on the market, but only in South Korea – the LG Wine Smart broke cover last September and you can’t pick it up anywhere outside of LG’s home country.

The good old days?

We don’t know too much about this new phone apart from what’s shown in the picture, which comes courtesy of @upleaks. Ice Cream Smart is the mooted name and the Android software looks very much like the OS running on LG’s other handsets (albeit shrunk down to fit a smaller screen).

Last year’s Wine Smart has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 LCD display. There’s also an 8-megapixel rear facing camera. It’s a…………… continues on TechRadar

Phone Comparisons: Xiaomi Mi Note Pro vs LG G Flex 2

Phone Comparisons: Xiaomi Mi Note Pro vs LG G Flex 2
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

Have we got a good one for you today – the newest Xiaomi Mi Note Pro goes up against the newest LG G Flex 2.  These are the newest and most powerful devices from these two manufacturers – in fact, neither device has been released into the wild yet, we only saw the LG G Flex 2 at CES and the new Xiaomi Mi Note Pro at their own private event in Beijing.

These two devices have a very similar sized display and are very similar in overall size, although very different in design – the Mi Note Pro is an all glass and metal trim design and the G Flex 2 has both a curved display, battery and body.  One place they are on the same page is they both use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 64-bit 810 octa-core processor with one quad-core clocked at 2.0GHz and the other quad-core clocked at 1.5GHz.

The main cameras are also similar – 13MP sensors, dual-tone LED flash, OIS and autofocus, although the LG G Flex 2 employs their faster, Laser autofocus.  The batteries are almost identical size as well – 3090mAh on the Mi Note Pro and 3000mAh on the G Flex 2.  Both devices have the usual Dual-Band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, a microUSB port, enhanced sound components and Quick Charge 2.0.

Check out the Specifications below and really compare them side-by-side…then we will take a look at each device on an individual basis and point out their strengths and weaknesses.  After th…………… continues on Android Headlines – Android News

Possible LG G4 specs uncovered by LG H810 listing
News from Phones Review:

The LG G4 is certainly going to make an appearance sometime this year; whether it will happen at the upcoming Barcelona Mobile World Congress at the beginning of March, or later in the year (possibly in May, like its LG G3 predecessor) is yet unknown, but rumors and leaks are already trying to anticipate some of the internals the South Korean phone maker will utilise for the 2015 flagship. This particular report, as well as the one we’re looking at today, seems to predict that most of the core specifications and components of the recently announced LG G Flex 2 will make it to the LG G4. We’ve already heard reports talking about a Quad HD screen (like on the LG G3, but with a slightly smaller screen size, in the neighbourhood of 5.3 inches), and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor (like on the G Flex 2), alongside a spec bump for the camera, moving up from the 13MP system on the G3 to a possible 16MP unit.

However, today’s report is based on a UAProf (User Agent Profile) file hosted on LG’s servers. While the LG G3 had model numbers formatted as LG G3 D85x, the phone we’re looking at here is a certain H810, so, while it might be the LG G4 (judging by the specs), it…………… continues on Phones Review

Curved LG G Flex 2 Phablet a Sequel Improving the Original
News from Small Business Trends:

LG is trying its hand again at a curved smartphone. It may be one of the few times when the sequel bests the original. The company is following the unimpressive debut of the LG G Flex with the LG G Flex 2. The G Flex 2 was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The latest smartphone — actually a phablet with its 5.5-inch display — seeks to upgrade the experience many got from the original curved device from LG.

That experience was lackluster, but the sequel is a real improvement, reports Engadget,

In a company release announcing the new device, LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company president and CEO Juno Cho
