LG G4 tantalizer features a 4K display

LG G4 tantalizer features a 4K display
News from Phones Review:

The LG G3 flagship released earlier this year and brought along a Quad HD resolution display for the ride. Some are already focusing on the next version of this phone and wondering what LG could bring to the table, and today we have an LG G4 tantalizer that features a 4K display.

Rishi Ramesh comes up with some notable and interesting concept ideas for upcoming devices, as shown in this recent Samsung Galaxy Note 5 render of his that we shared. Now the designer has turned his attention to the LG G4, with its standout factor being a 4K display. The handset features slight curvature and appears to be bezel-free at the sides with slim bezels to the top and bottom of the front.

It’s a pretty wide-looking handset and the physical buttons on the rear of the phone are less obvious than on the G3. There are also provided specs for this design, which include a 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor, a 5.7-inch display (with 4K resolution), 3GB of RAM, and a choice of 32 or 64GB models for internal storage (expandable via microSD to 128GB).

It has a 3300 mAh battery and as you would expect it runs the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating syste…………… continues on Phones Review

Bizarre LG AKA phones have moving eyes and ‘personalities’
News from Mashable:

What’s This?

These days, most companies tout their phones’ big displays or high-tech cameras as selling points.

Not the new LG AKA models, which are for people in search of a bit more personality on their devices.

The major draw of the AKA phones doesn’t have anything to do with specs. Instead, the phones have character names (Eggy, Wooky, YoYo and Soul) as well as back stories. The weirdest feature, though, is a set of moving eyes above each phone’s display that correspond with your phone’s “persona.”

LG said this is the first phone with a built-in character; it also has a less notable first, the sliding-door cover. You have a choice of four phone characters, each with their own set of eyes and histories:

LG G3 crowned 2014 TrustedReviews Phone of the Year

LG G3 crowned 2014 TrustedReviews Phone of the Year
News from TrustedReviews:

The LG G3 has been crowned Phone of the Year at the 2014 TrustedReviews Awards, seeing off competition from the likes of the iPhone 6 and the HTC One M8.

A device which has kicked the hotly contested smartphone space into yet another gear, the LG G3 pairs a hugely impressive specs sheet with an innovative, near bezel free design.

Having received praise from both the voting public and our panel of expert judges, the G3 shook the market back in June by adding a 5.5-inch QHD display into a frame no larger than some 5-inch handsets.

While a laser focused 13-megapixel camera and rear-mounted controls also feature, this push to a 2560 x 1440 pixel panel has since sparked a number of rivals to follow suit – including Samsung with the Galaxy Note 4.

“We’ve been spoilt for choice this ye…………… continues on TrustedReviews

LG G3 Stylus Review: The Pen Isn’t Mightier Than the Touchscreen
News from NDTV:

LG is really looking to capitalise on the success of the G3. In addition to the low-priced G3 Beat, which we reviewed a little while ago, the company has also rolled out another model – the G3 Stylus. As its name suggests, the unique touch this time is a stylus. Very few companies still design phones with styli, so LG’s latest model already stands out.

Before Apple declared that human thumbs were the best way to go about implementing touch interfaces (and the rest of the world followed suit), such phones were a lot more common. Today, Samsung’s Galaxy Note models are really the only phones we can think of that still emphasise stylus input, and to be fair, they’ve done a really good job of it. The Galaxy Note and all its successors to date have been high-end flagship phones, with powerful hardware and a whole ecosystem of apps that take advantage of the whole package. With a name derived from the formidable LG G3 (

Phone Comparisons: Motorola Droid Turbo vs LG G3

Phone Comparisons: Motorola Droid Turbo vs LG G3
News from Android Headlines – Android News:

Do we have great comparison for you today – the new Motorola Droid Turbo versus the very popular LG G3…the first mass produced smartphone with the QHD display, like the one on the Droid Turbo.  The phones look as different as night and day – the sleek, very small bezels, rounded and metallic look of the LG G3 make it a sweet smartphone.  This is opposite the more rugged look of the Droid Turbo with its Kevlar infused body for added strength or the one model that has a ballistic nylon back.  Both devices are well built and comfortable to hold in your hand.

These two devices have several things in common and because the LG G3 has the QHD display, this is going to be a lot tougher decision than I first expected.  The two devices are almost the same height and width, although the Droid Turbo is slightly thinner, it is 20 grams heavier – more than likely because of the mammoth 3900mAh battery and heavier casing with the Kevlar.

The display sizes are close and both at QHD, they both use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, but the Droid Turbo uses the newest…………… continues on Android Headlines – Android News

LG G3 S review | TrustedReviews
News from TrustedReviews:

What is the LG G3 S?

The LG G3 S is a mid-range spinoff of LG’s flagship phone, the LG G3. It’s a direct rival to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and HTC One Mini 2. Unlike the competition, though, it’s not particularly small. The phone’s 5-inch screen, although smaller than the 5.5-inch G3, is identical in size to the flagship HTC One M8.

Inevitably the phone’s specs aren’t as impressive as the G3 – the G3’s QHD panel is replaced by a lowly 720p offering, the 13-megapixel camera is substituted for a basic 8-megapixel option, and processing power has been slashed – but at £240 it’s a decent amount cheaper. The problem, however, is last year’s flagship LG G2<…………… continues on TrustedReviews

LG’s new phones have strange digital characters living inside of them

LG’s new phones have strange digital characters living inside of them
News from The Verge:

Most smartphones look decidedly bland, so to set its new mid-range phones apart, LG is quite literally giving them some character. In Korea, LG is introducing the Aka line, a set of smartphones that each come in a different color and with a different digital character built into them. There are four characters in all, and each of them has a different personality that LG is hoping will appeal to buyers. You’ll even see their big eyes blinking at you while the phone is idle and in its case.

Their names are Eggy, Wooky, Soul, and YoYo

These are the four personalities, according to CNET: there’s a yellow phone, named Eggy, who falls in love easily; there’s a white phone, named Wooky, who talks in slang; there’s a blue phone, named Soul, who loves music and beer; and finally, there’s the pink phone, YoYo, who is the only female character in the group and is named after her tendency to eat a lot of hamburgers and drink a lot of Coke, causing her weight to “yo-yo,” which is definitely not the best character trait that LG could have given to its sole female character.

It appears that the phones each come with a matching case…………… continues on The Verge

LG G Watch R review: good looks and improved battery are a step in the right direction

I think it’s fair to say by now that smartwatches are no longer the “hot new thing.” It’s an established product category. The paint might still be a little wet on the whole idea, and some might argue there are areas that still need improving, but these clever timepieces are officially here to stay. That’s thanks in no small part to Android Wear, Google’s platform that brought some sanity/unity to the wild west of wrist-worn Android tech that came before. With the software side of things taken care of, hardware manufacturers can now focus on the gear.

So far, in terms of Android Wear devices, we’ve seen efforts from

iPhone 6 Plus vs LG G3 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 4: Ultimate specs showdown
News from ChristianToday:

iPhone 6 Plus

Today’s specs bout is a cutthroat showdown among two Android phones and an Apple handset — the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the LG G3 and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus. These names are surefire head-turners and eye-poppers, but which really is the one to beat?

Samsung Galaxy Note 4

All three devices were released this year. The latest of the handsets is the Galaxy Note 4, which was launched just last month. The iPhone 6 Plus came out in September along with its little brother, the iPhone 6. The LG G3 was released way back in June.

This early, the iPhone 6 Plus already snatches a win in the design area. With its streamlined aluminum outer shell, LG G3′s faux metal exterior and Note 4′s faux leather skin are pulped. The earliest-released phone among the bunch is also the thickest. LG G3 has an 8.9-inch thin body. The Galaxy Note 4 is at 8.5 mm and the iPhone 6 Plus wows with 7.1mm.

In a complete turnaround, the display department has the Apple flagship a bit left behind despite its capability to render crisp details. The iPhone 6 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch display, delivering 1920 x 1080 screen resolution with 401 ppi pixel density — but its new Retina HD…………… continues on ChristianToday
