When Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos introduced Fire Phone to the world on Wednesday, he knew the company will face some tough competitions in the smartphone realm with the likes of LG G3 and HTC One M8.

In a marketplace dominated by Apple and Samsung, the battle for third place is still between LG and HTC.

LG G3 revolutionized the power of imaging of modern day smartphones with stunning 5.5″ Quad HD screen, a pixel density of 538 ppi and laser focus technology.

It runs on Android 4.4.2 and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core CPU.

The race for bigger, sharper screens, it seems, is never-ending. Whether the device in question fits in your pocket or hangs on your wall, manufacturers just keep cramming pixels in, even well past the point where our eyes can supposedly tell the difference.

LG G3 US release date revealed, phone is enjoying massive success in Asia
News from Load The Game:

The highly regarded @Evleaks industry insider struck again yesterday, by tweeting about the LG G3′s pre-order and release date in the United States. It seems the first carrier to receive LG’s successor to the fantastic G2 will be Verizon, and the phone will be up for grabs on the 17th of July. We’ve been expecting the LG G3 to launch in the United States by the end of July, but this release date is actually surprisingly close, at least closer than many have been expecting. Pre-orders will begin on the 10th of July. At the moment, it’s unclear when exactly will the LG G3 arrive for those that pre-order, but it’s usually around 2 days prior to the regular launch.

This leak would suggest that other major US carriers will be getting the LG G3 at the end of July too, including Sprint and AT&T. We d…………… continues on Load The Game

LG releases QCircle SDK to developers, along with three other SDKs

Wednesday, June 11th, 2014

LG releases QCircle SDK to developers, along with three other SDKs
News from androidandme.com:

The LG G3 is a great phone that deserves great accessories. One of those accessories is the QuickCircle case, which is similar to Samsung’s S View case in that it has a window that lets users view and interact with certain features on the lock screen. The QuickCircle uses a circular design, so it requires a bit of a change to the build of the app being used for it to format correctly with the shape. That should be easier and more prevalent with today’s release of the QCircle SDK.

The QCircle SDK will allow devs to create apps that easily interact with the QuickCircle case, which should be welcome for LG G3 owners. Three other SDKs are also launching, the first being the QSlide SDK that will let apps take advantage of the split-screen experience that’s available on LG phones. The QRemote SDK is used for allowing apps to use the IR blaster on LG phones, enabling it to become a universal remote, and the QPair SDK allows LG phones and tablets to pair with one another for things like seamless texting and calling between both devices. All in all, it’s a strong group of SDKs that should allow apps to have a better experience on LG phones.

What’s your favorite software feature on your phone?

LG G3 Review

LG has brought out its latest flagship device the LG G3. This smartphone has a large 5.5in display and a huge Quad-HD resolution that blows its rivals away. Plus it has an amazingly speedy laser focus on the rear snapper, which focuses almost instantly.

In competition are Sony’s Xperia Z2, the HTC One M8 and the Galaxy S5 from Samsung – can the G3 stand up to these big boys? We aim to find out with this review – please note our review device had a retractable TV ariel as it was a South Korean model. The phones sold in Britain and Europe will not feature this.

Camera Shootout: LG G3 vs. Galaxy S5 vs. One (M8) vs. Nexus 5 vs. iPhone 5s
News from Droid Life:

The 13MP camera featured on the LG G3 is certainly one of its main highlights. Much like last year’s G2, the camera features optical image stabilization (OIS+), as well as a fancy new laser built right into the backside of the device to create super-fast auto focus times.

Over the weekend, we put the LG G3 through the camera paces, coming away extremely impressed. For comparison purposes, we took out five top devices, just to see if we could try to come away with something useful.

Down below in the gallery, we have shots from the LG G3, Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One (M8), Google Nexus 5, and Apple iPhone 5s.

You may ask, why did we use an iOS device? If you follow smartphones, then you should know that the iPhone 5s has arguably one of the best situational cameras ever featured on a smartphone. It has an 8MP sensor, but takes great shots.

Without going into each camera’s performance, and to keep this short and sweet, I will only discuss the G3′s performance out in the field. The first thing you notice when snapping a photo with the G3 is the lightning-fast auto focus. When taking photos of a flower in the breeze, the quick speed of the shutter helps capture the shot you wa…………… continues on Droid Life

LG G3: Top 10 Value-added Features of New Flagship Smartphone
News from International Business Times, India Edition:

LG G3

The recently unveiled LG G3 has received massive response from tech critics and fans alike, for its improved design, high resolution display and the use of innovative laser focus technology in the camera.

Though the G3 keeps the design language of its predecessor, it does exude a refined and elegant look, with a metal finish-like surface. The company has also incorporated some big upgrades in terms of internal hardware as well.

Here is a brief description of the top value-added features in G3:

Ergonomic design: The new LG G3 keeps the G2′s design language but the foot print of the phone’s display has been raised to 5.5-inch from 5.2-inch, and its curved back makes the phone comfortably fit in hand.

The phone might give a false sense of metal casing if viewed from far, but in reality, the device flaunts faux metal, the company claims it to be the polished metal case but it in fact the device’s rear case is made of hard, good quality plastic, which comes with the anti-scratch and fingerprint-resistant material coating. Despite the phone’s big size, it measures just 8.9-mm thickness.

LG G3 -
News from your heart’s desire is here [Review] – BetaNews:

Android smartphones are a dime a dozen nowadays. If a manufacturer wants to stand out among the sea of rectangular Google-powered devices, it has to bring it. But, what exactly is “it”? Is it specs? Is it the experience? What exactly do consumers want? I’m not sure that is crystal clear anymore. When buying a smartphone, consumers are forced to choose between an iPhone or Android (sorry, Windows Phone). If you want an iPhone, there isn’t much choice, it is an easy decision. If you want Android, well, you’d better do your homework. Do you want pure Android or a tweaked UI? What screen size do you want? How much do you want to pay?

Cost is a huge factor now, as devices like the Motorola G push the boundaries of what a low-cost smartphone can be. For a consumer to spend a huge amount out of pocket or sign their life away with a long contract, the phone needs to be exceptional. There must be real reasons as to why they should buy it over a low-cost no-contract variant. When the LG G3 was announced, I was immediately impressed with how the company focused beyond the incredible specs to the overall user experience. But, would the G3 prove to be wonderful in practice? Luckily, I’ve been using the phone and I can now answer that question.

LG G Pro 2 review: This is a Mr Dependable

LG G Pro 2 review: This is a Mr Dependable
News from Indian Express:

The phone comes with 16GB inbuilt storage. That is good enough to put off the purchase of a storage card if you have been left broke by the cost of this phone.

Summary

The LG G Pro 2 is among the best devices to watch a long movie on.

It is somewhat ironical that I am writing the LG G Pro 2 review days after the launch of the LG G3. The Indian mobile market, as big as it is, does not seem to stimulate LG enough and it has been taking its own sweet time bringing its smartphones to India. It is even more surprising because LG has the kind of phones that can really make an impact in the market. Of late, there seems to have been a gradual change in this attitude and phones are making it to India quicker than before. The G Pro 2 has taken just a couple of months, an achievement in itself.

Specs: 5.9-inch true FHD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen (373 ppi) | 2.26 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor | 3GB RAM | 16GB internal memory + 64GB external | micro SIM | 13-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera, Full HD video recording | 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4, GPS, DLNA, NFC, Miracast | 3200mAh battery | Android 4.4.2 KItKat

LG G3 vs Galaxy S5: Specs, design, camera and initial sales
News from Ecumenical News:

Credit: LG Electronics

The newly-launched LG G3 has given people who are looking for a high-end smartphone a new alternative. To consider itself a member of the high-end smartphones category, it needs to compete against other similar devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The following specs show how LG’s top device fares in a LG G3 vs Galaxy S5 comparison.

Chipset, RAM and Storage

LG G3 was rumored to be powered by the new Snapdragon 805 chipset, which was announced last year to be available in 2014. However, the smartphone ended up with a Snapdragon 801. The same goes for the GS5, and most other current top devices.

Both the G3 and GS5 come with either 16GB or 32GB internal storage, which is expandable by microSD cards. The LG G3 come with either 2GB or 3GB RAM, while the GS5 has 2GB RAM.

LG G3 review: the company's best phone yet

Bigger, higher resolution, simpler to use. That’s how we described LG’s latest flagship, the G3, when we finally got our hands on it last week. The headline feature is, without a doubt, that Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440) screen. I’ve been gazing at it intensely since the review unit landed in my hand. But, the G3′s not just a one-trick pony; there’s a lot going on under that “metallic skin.” Good thing there’s a full Engadget review here to tell you all about it.

Nexus 5 vs LG G2 – KitKat support, price and future proofing
News from Load The Game:

Recent developments have brought two solid phones to our attention once again. First, we have the Google Nexus 5, which we now know will be getting Android KitKat 4.4.3. In fact, the updates for the phone are already starting to roll out, so that’s one extra reason why the Nexus 5 still proves to be relevant and powerful, despite starting to show it’s age somewhat. On the other hand, we’re talking about the LG G2. LG’s flagship phone for 2013 is now getting replaced by the LG G3, a smartphone that’s already available in Asia and will become available in Europe and the United States at the end of July.

The LG G3 already impressed press members and those that were lucky enough to get some hands-on time with the device at its launch event. It’s every bit as good as the LG G2 proved to be in 2013, and might just be the top co…………… continues on Load The Game

LG G3 review – The Verge
News from LG G3 review – The Verge:

Display

Before any sketches of the G3 were even committed to paper, LG had settled on its one key specification. The company’s flagship Android phone for 2014 would be built around a 5.5-inch Quad HD LCD display. With a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440, it’s only matched by a pair of phones for the Chinese market — the Vivo Xplay 3S and Oppo Find 7 — and comfortably outdoes its 1080p global competitors. I love this as a technical achievement and the G3 renders everything beautifully, but I cannot discern any advantage from the extra pixels. The only time I notice them is when I look at the resolution of screenshots from the G3.

The most impressive thing about this screen is not its otherworldly 538ppi pixel density, but how efficient the designers have been with the space around it. 76.4 percent of the G3’s front is occupied by the display, allowing it to fit a larger panel into the same dimensions as the 5-inch HTC One and 5.2-inch Xperia Z2. LG’s phone is also significantly lighter than the others, making it feel much more streamlined.

New LG G3 Kill Switch Feature to Protect Phones from Theft
News from The Horn:

In the fight against data theft, LG has taken a big step forward by adding a “kill switch” to its upcoming G3 smartphone. If the phone is stolen, the user has the ability to remotely activate the lock no matter where the phone is. When activated, the LG G3 kill switch will not only wipe all data from the phone, but also put a permanent lock on the device, which makes it very difficult to sell and impossible to use. While this may not prevent theft entirely, it will at least make the phone less of a target and protect theft victims’ personal information.

Phone Theft

According to CNET, one in 10 American smartphone owners have had their phones stolen, and one in every three robberies in the United States involves the theft of a mobile device. To put those numbers in perspective, approximately 1.6 million Americans had their smartphones stolen in 2012, and the cost of purchasing new ones broke $ 30 billion.

With numbers like these, it comes as no surprise that lawmakers are approaching phone designers and asking for better technology to help protect victims of smartphone theft. One such request…………… continues on The Horn
