How the LG G2 looked to ‘Gangnam Style’ for inspiration
News from CNET:

One of the creators of the G2 tells CNET how the smartphone maker looked to the example of pop star Psy for its flagship smartphone.

BARCELONA, Spain — Ramchan Woo is a big fan of Korean pop superstar Psy.

OK, with nearly 2 billion views on YouTube, who didn’t at one time bob to the rhythm of the mega-viral “Gangnam Style” music video? But Woo, who is the head of LG’s mobile platform planning division, did more than just sing and dance along to Psy’s infectiously catchy beat, he used the artist and his video as inspiration for the Korean company’s flagship G2 smartphone.

“He was different,” Woo said as he sat next to me during a dinner with executives, reporters, and bloggers hosted by LG in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, which offered a brief respite from the craziness of the Mobile World Congress trade show last month.

While no Psy, Woo clearly stands out from the typical Korean tech executive. Every other LG official sitting around the table that evening sported the usual corporate uni…………… continues on CNET

LG Lucid 3 outed in new leak, Verizon branding aplenty
News from Phandroid.com:

When LG unveiled their next generation mid-range devices at this year’s Mobile World Congress (namely, their F-Series), we had little doubt they’d end up in some form or another on US shores. Verizon is no stranger to LG and their handsets, so it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to find leaked images of the upcoming LG Lucid 3 as uncovered by @evleaks.

Carrying a tweaked (read: more rounded) G-series-esque design — along with Verizon’s hickeys logos on the front and back of the device — the phone looks more like a LG G2 Mini than one of…………… continues on Phandroid.com

Alleged screenshots taken from the LG G3 may confirm 2K display
News from Phandroid.com:

Mobile tech is advancing a blistering fast pace. In the fight for market share dominance, Android OEMs are pulling out all the stops in a mad attempt at 1-uping each other. Well, for the most part. Just because Samsung played it “safe” this year by sticking with a 1080p display (instead of the 2K one we heard so much about from rumors), doesn’t mean their rivals will be so complacent.

Look no further than the LG G3 which, according to those rumors we all love so much, is said to arrive on the scene with a drop-your-jaw and make-your-eyes-bleed 2K display. Well, a Dutch site may have just confirmed these rumors, after releasing a few screenshots from the upcoming device packing a — you guessed it — 1440 × 2560 resolution image (2K/QHD to the rest of us). Of course, nothing has been confirmed, but this leak seems pretty so…………… continues on Phandroid.com

The Best Android Phone, Device On the 2014 Market : LG G2, Huawei, Google …
News from Latin Post:

First Posted: Mar 15, 2014 09:45 AM EDT

There are a lot of choices when it comes to Android phones these days. A few years ago, Android phones were considered to be the cheaper version of iPhones and BlackBerrys, but with an increase in the number of companies developing Android phones, the choices have become a lot more interesting, but, which one is the best?

Each brand has its unique features. For most consumers who want to get a phone at a budget price, LG and Huawei are the best brand choices. Top ranking phones include Sony, Samsung and HTC.

One of the best choices is the LG G2. Set at over $ 200, the phone provides high-end features with impressive design. Aside from the lack of a microSD card slot, the rest of its features are a cut above the rest of the competition at its price.

Tech review: LG G Flex – World’s first curved, flexible smartphone
News from kdvr.com:

Posted on: 9:20 am, March 14, 2014, by Nancy Melear, updated on: 03:57pm, March 14, 2014

Flip phones were all the rage in the 90’s but over the past 7 years or so, candy bar style smartphones have taken over.  Flat phones.  Now, LG is out with what it calls the first ever curved, flexible smartphone. I had a few weeks to demo the new LG G Flex on Sprint.

First Impressions

The LG G Flex is big!  It has a 6” screen so it’s closer in size to a 7” tablet than it is to an iPhone.  The Phablet (phone/tablet) market has been growing over the past few years and the LG G Flex is one of the largest options in that category.

I also immediately noticed the awesomely bright and clear OLED screen.  The 720p resolution isn’t mind-blowing but the colors and…………… continues on kdvr.com

LG G3 will be water and dust resistant: Report

LG G3 will be water and dust resistant: Report
News from Times of India:

NEW DELHI: LG appears to be following on the footsteps of other device makers, making its next flagship phone water and dust resistant.

According to a news report by South Korean publication ETNews, the electronics giant’s next flagship phone, LG G3, would be both water and dust resistant. LG is expected to launch G3 smartphone in June this year. The device is said to have display resolution of 2560x1440p, run on a 64-bit processor and 16MP rear camera.

The rumour comes days after a report by Gizmodo Germany that claimed that Nexus 6, Google’s next flagship phone, will be a “lightweight version” of the LG G3. It is speculated that Google may opt for a lower camera and screen resolution. Nexus 6 may have an 8 or 13MP rear camera and 1920x1080p resolution (just like Nexus 5).

How to set up Knock Code on the LG G Pro 2
News from CNET:

LG’s latest flagship smartphone can be unlocked with a simple tapping sequence. Here’s how you can set it up on your device.

March 12, 2014 9:40 AM PDT

Use Knock Code on the LG G Pro 2

In an effort to compete with Samsung and its powerful Galaxy S brand, LG announced the G2 in the fall of 2013. The flagship smartphone was the company’s first device to be released on every major US carrier. In addition to high-end specs, the G2 stood out from the crowd with rear facing buttons and numerous unique software features. One of those features was KnockOn, which allowed users to turn the phone’s display on or off by simply double-tapping the screen.

The KnockOn feature has since made its way to a number of other LG phones, such as the

LG’s G Flex: Is a curved smartphone screen innovation or desperation? (review)
News from VentureBeat:

Curved smartphone screens are going to be the next hot thing — if you believe the likes of Samsung and LG.

The two Korean electronics companies have recently rolled the first curved-screen smartphones out to market. These devices will likely serve as precursors to phones with truly flexible displays. (Imagine a smartphone you could twist onto your wrist — talk about a smartwatch.)

LG was first out the gate with the G Flex, which builds on the company’s recent experience creating solid-yet-boring Android phones but adds a curved screen. It’s fast, sports a massive screen, and ticks off just about every check box for what you’d want in a powerful new Android phone.

But why does it have a curved screen? What exactly does it offer that our boring old flat phones don’t? That remains to be seen.

The good: It sure is a conversation starter

If there’s one thing the G Flex has going for it, it’s that it doesn’t look like any other smartphone around right now. When you’re surrounded by iPhones and Android look-alikes, sometimes it’s nice having a way to stand out fro…………… continues on VentureBeat

LG G Flex advertisement showcases ‘the most human phone ever’
News from NDTV:

LG recently released a video advertisement for its LG G Flex phablet, which is the company’s first curved display smartphone, that features a flexible 6-inch P-OLED display.

The LG G Flex video advertisement boasts of the handset’s natural curve, its flexibility and its self-healing functionality. Unfortunately, the video has since been pulled by the company, but we’ve found the video uploaded by another channel.

The G Flex advertisement shows two friends – ‘Danny boy’, and the other, unnamed – meeting at a restaurant, celebrating Danny’s birthday. The unnamed friend, together with a friend (Ben) who couldn’t make it to the birthday party, gifts Danny a LG G Flex phone.

When Danny pulls the G Flex out of its box, his hand turns into a ‘phone’, featuring a human ear as the earpiece, and a bearded mouth as the mouthpiece. The beard is Ben’s, who is calling to wish Danny a happy birthday, seemingly indicating the phone is so human it morphs into the caller. The conceit is taken further when Danny feeds Ben’s mouth some cake, and at the end of the advertisement, w…………… continues on NDTV

Google Nexus 6 Confirmed as ‘Lightweight’ LG G3 on July 2014 Release Date …
News from International Business Times AU:

Phone Arena reported this week that Google’s vanilla Android smartphone for this year will bear the LG logo on launch date. The new development, if true, douses cold water on speculations that surfaced last month that the Nexus phone will jump to Lenovo-Motorola.

Also, choosing LG for the Nexus 6 project makes sense for Google. Recall that the South Korean device manufacturer was also responsible for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, which were based respectively from the LG Optimus G and LG G2.

Citing Gizmodo Germany as source, Phone Arena noted too that in previous cases, the upcoming Nexus 6 will be the slightly stripped-down version of the LG G3. Specifically,

LG G Flex Mouth on Hand video suggests phone is a human
News from SlashGear:

Chris Burns

In a move that you’d expect only the Super Bowl crew of advertising agents would push forward, LG has created a spot for the LG G Flex with human lips. In a move that we’ve only otherwise seen Sony roll with on the Xperia Play, LG presents the LG G Flex as a device that’s “the most human phone ever.” We must assume that they mean the phone curves to the side of your face.

This spot begins with a Mexican singer playing a birthday song for Danny Boy, the character in the salmon button-up shirt. Afterward, the second character hands the first a present from himself and a photo of a person who couldn’t be there for the celebration. From there it gets extra-strange.

Danny Boy opens the package and finds an LG G Flex box much like we’ve seen with the international release of the device. Inside though, there’s no LG G Flex. Instead, Danny Boy finds his hand with a mouth on it. This hand begins to “ring”, and he places it against his face.

The “phone call” is from the third character who is taking a vac…………… continues on SlashGear

LG unveils its most human phone ever…but body morphing isn’t on the cards for …
News from The Drum:

LG has unveiled the LG G Flex, a curved smartphone which it describes as its ‘most human phone ever’.

Created by SuperHeroes Amsterdam, the ad shows Dan celebrating his birthday over dinner, receiving a phone from his friends. The phone, however, is strangely human.

Rogier Vijverberg, creative director and founder of SuperHeroes, said: “Our mission is to bring out the superpower in anyone and anything. How awesome would it be if your phone could morph into your body? You would never drop it down the toilet again for a start. It really excites us to work with such brave innovators as LG, who are not afraid to challenge the realms of possibility.”

Lenneke Sigmond, marketing manager mobile at LG Electronics Benelux, added: “LG brings innovation with a wink and a smile. The LG G Flex’s amazing design and technology inspires everyone to think about what’s really coming next.”

As well as a curved screen, the LG G Flex features a ‘self-healing’ back cover.

LG G Pro 2 review: new year, new Note contender – Engadget
News from LG G Pro 2 review: new year, new Note contender – Engadget:

The large-screen smartphone market is now one of the most fiercely competitive in the wireless industry. But even though nearly every phone maker has produced a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Note, only a handful of products have actually been worth considering. LG’s Optimus G Pro, a 5.5-inch flagship introduced last year, was one such exception. A year later, its 5.9-inch successor picks up where the first Pro left off, adding enough extra firepower to take on the Galaxy Note 3 spec for spec. The LG G Pro 2 may very well have what it takes to stand up against its big-screen rival, but it’ll have to overcome a few minor obstacles in order to succeed.

LG Brings G2 4G LTE Mobile Phone to India

Monday, March 3rd, 2014

LG Brings G2 4G LTE Mobile Phone to India
News from Businessinsider India:

LG had showcased this phone internationally with 4G LTE capability some time back and now LG has brought it to our side of the globe. The new variant of the G2 4G phone will start its sale from mid March and will carry a price tag of Rs 46,000 for the 16 GB version and Rs 49,000 for the 32GB one.

We had a glimpse of the 4G speeds at the LG Tech Show, which was held today in Delhi NCR. LG had put a 4G simulation up for this phone and the speeds we saw were mind boggling. Besides displaying extreme graphics on its rich IPS screen the phone could download a 100 MB file within 5 seconds. The rest of the phone specs include a 5.2-inch touch display, 2 GB RAM and 3,000 mAh li-ion battery.

It’s good to see that LG is bringing its latest mobile innovations to India, but the fact still remains that our country is still not equipped for 4G. Airtel might have started 4G rollout in few cities, but there are places in the country where 3G does not work properly. We are hoping with new devices such as LG G2 4G LTE coming out the operators will hasten the process of 4G rollout in more cities and states, which takes care of all mobile data problems.

LG G3 release date possibility rumour
News from Phones Review:

Those looking to pick up a new smartphone this year seem certain to have a great choice of worthy handsets to pick from in the coming few months, and the LG G3 release date possibility is again rumoured ahead of any official news.

A couple of weeks ago we heard a LG executive suggesting that the LG G3 release will be brought forward to give the handset more of a chance to compete in a crowded market. Now there are rumours about the release date for the device with suggestions it may come as soon as June.

The company has already provided the mobile world with the LG G Pro 2 but Ubergizmo are claiming the next flagship device from the company will come in June. Last year’s model was released in September while some regions had to wait until October, but the company said previously that they want the next device to have some clear space to succeed.

There has been talk that the LG G3 specs will

LG F70 Review | First Impressions from MWC 2014
News from TrustedReviews:

The cheapest 4G phone?

4G internet connectivity has become the norm in expensive, top-end phones. However, we almost never see it in phones like the LG F70. This is an entry-level mobile that offers super-fast 4G internet. And it’s the sort of device that has the potential to bring 4G to the masses. We had a play with it at MWC 2014, where the phone was launched.

LG F70 – Design and Features

The LG F70 is a simple-looking, inoffensive phone. It comes in black or white, has a textured plastic back and is slightly chunky. It’s not going to turn heads, but it’s not likely to turn many off either.

The black and white versions

Its styling is very similar to the higher-end LG F90, but there are a few design cuts…………… continues on TrustedReviews
