[Deal Alert] LG G Flex Down To $ 99 On-Contract With A New Line On AT&T Or …
News from Android Police:

I think we can all agree that AT&T’s $ 300 on-contract price for the LG G Flex is unacceptable. Sprint’s $ 250 asking price is also too high, though not as obscene. If you’re looking for a curved phone, you can get the G Flex for a mere $ 99.99 on-contract with either carrier through Amazon.

The G Flex is still a $ 600 phone without a contract, but you can only pay so much of a premium for style. If the contract doesn’t bother you, it’s just a relative pittance on Sprint or AT&T. Keep in mind that’s the price for…………… continues on Android Police

Why the LG G2 with 4G LTE could be the darkhorse in 2014 smartphone race in …
News from Firstpost:

Let’s face it: we are itching to see what 4G LTE is all about? The promise of high-speed internet has got us salivating, just as the 3G launch did in the last decade. As 3G phones become commonplace, 4G is hitting India in a big way this year.

The first phones to benefit from the inaugural 4G wave were the two iPhones – 5s and 5c – as Airtel launched mobile 4G in India, starting with Bangalore. And now there’s a third contender (also with Airtel’s 4G services), which could just be the darkhorse in the smartphone race.

We aren’t calling the LG G2 a darkhorse because it’s not good enough or because LG doesn’t have a great market share. In fact, the phone is very good as we have said in the past and LG has climbed the rankings on the back of it…………… continues on Firstpost

LG Bringing KnockCode to More LG Phones Via Future Firmware Update
News from Droid Life:

Ever since it was introduced with the LG G2, the KnockOn tap-to-wake software that LG patented has been a major focal point of its OEM software. LG even improved its own design by announcing KnockCode alongside the G Pro 2, which will launch later this year. Apparently, demand was so high for creating a personalized knocking pattern to unlock your device that LG is bringing it to more of their older devices.

According to a survey done by LG, over 50 percent of the participants listed KnockCode as their most anticipated feature of the G Pro 2. After hearing that kind of response, LG has announced plans for its LG G Flex and the G2 to receive KnockCode sometime in April.

No hard date has been set in stone and neither has the list of devices to receive this update. LG promises to keep us updated in “the weeks ahead” to give us more details of when exactly we can expect this firmware update to come through.

LG’s first smart light bulb flashes when you get a phone call

LG’s first smart light bulb flashes when you get a phone call
News from Engadget:

LG isn’t about to let household heavyweights like Philips corner the connected lighting space — it just unveiled the Smart Lamp, its first take on the concept. The 10W LED bulb gives Android and iOS users a familiar level of control over their illumination, including a light-based alarm clock and a security mode that pretends you’re at home. There are a couple of noteworthy tricks in this initial offering, however. The light connects through both Bluetooth and WiFi, letting it pull the sync-based stunts we’ve seen in a few other bulbs: it can flash when…………… continues on Engadget

Although these devices have not yet been launched by LG in India, the L90 Dual is listed on the official LG India website without pricing, although the LG L70 Dual isn’t listed at all just yet. Both phones are now listed at online retailer Snapdeal though, and the LG L90 price is Rs. 17,499 while the LG L70 price is Rs. 14,500.

President Obama may soon be rocking an Android from Samsung or LG

President Obama may soon be rocking an Android from Samsung or LG
News from Phandroid.com:

President Barack Obama may soon be giving up his trusty Blackberry in favor of something more… green. Before you give Obama brownie points, the switch (like most things) has absolutely nothing to do with his own preference, but that of the White House Communications Agency (WHCA), which oversees all of the President’s communications, both incoming and outgoing.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the WHCA (along with an internal technology team) is still in the early phases of testing smartphones from both Samsung and LG to be used for official use. Because testing is still in its early phases, Obama will still be using his Blackberry – the smartphone he recently used to snap a controversial selfie — for another good couple…………… continues on Phandroid.com

Google Nexus 6 is LG G3 Codenamed ‘LG B2′ – On Course for July 2014 …
News from International Business Times AU:

The next LG hero phone, according to Geek.com, is actually a device that is codenamed for now as LG B2. Pointing to an unnamed source, the tech sited added that the same handset is lined up for debut in early June with a target on the 19th at the latest.

It is alleged that LG is gunning for an earlier release of its flagship smartphone compared to the previous models in order to better compete with the likes of iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5. The latter, however, is set to hit the market starting on April 11.

But what really is exciting about the upcoming Android phone from LG is the prospect of its ‘twin’ coming out shortly, which many believe is the Nexus 6.

The projection makes sense as Google is also scheduled to stage its annual I/O Developers Conference on June 24, in which continues on International Business Times AU

A month ago, I decided to tackle a phone that didn’t seem to be on a lot of people’s radar. A phone that, while announced in late 2013, took until early 2014 to make an appearance here in our neck of the woods. A phone that, in all honesty, is probably too big to actually be considered *a phone*. But hey, it’s got a curved display, so that should make everything okay, right?

White House Testing Samsung and LG Phones, Looking to Get President …

Friday, March 21st, 2014

White House Testing Samsung and LG Phones, Looking to Get President …
News from Droid Life:

It seems BlackBerry devices don’t see much use here in America unless you work for the US government, as “only BlackBerry is designed to meet the high-security needs of U.S. and allied government agencies,” said a BlackBerry spokesperson. That was stated following the news that our nation’s White House staff is internally testing devices from both Samsung and LG, possibly looking to get President Barack Obama off of his beloved BlackBerry device.

While declining to state which exact devices from the two OEMs are currently being used, a Dept. of Defense representative was quoted as saying, “we can confirm that the White House Communications Agency, consistent with the rest of the Department of Defense, is piloting and using a variety of mobile devices.” With that said, they commented further, clarifying that we could be months away from this great nation having a new First Smartphone.

A Samsung spokesperson also commented on the news, stating th…………… continues on Droid Life

Samsung, LG bring new flagship phones to Taiwan

Wednesday, March 19th, 2014

Samsung, LG bring new flagship phones to Taiwan
News from Focus Taiwan News Channel:

Taipei, March 19 (CNA) Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. launched their new flagship smartphones in Taiwan Wednesday, intensifying the competition in a market where consumers prefer handsets larger than 5 inches.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is waterproof and features a 5.1-inch 1080p display, a quad-core 2.5GHz processor, a 16-megapixel main camera, a fingerprint scanner embedded in its home button and 4G LTE connectivity.

The S5 will start at NT$ 22,900 (US$ 753) for a 16GB model and NT$ 23,900 for a 32GB model when it hits Taiwan stores on April 11.

Moon Sung-hyun, managing director of Samsung Taiwan, said worldwide sales of the Galaxy S series phones have reached a milestone of 200 million units since the first generation model was unveiled in 2010.

“We are very grateful. And we know that we only succeed when customers choose us. We know that we must continue to earn that choice,” Moon said at the product launch event.

“The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the perfect combination of all great practical features and allows you to have a smarter and more convenient mobile life,” he said.

In comparison, the LG G Pro 2 comes with a 5.9-inch full-HD IPS display with an extra slim bezel of 3.3mm, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.26GHz quad-core processor and a 13-megapixel camera.

International LG G2 gets Android 4.4 KitKat update
News from Phones Review:

Earlier this month we informed readers that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update had been made available for the LG G2 international version via an unofficial download and also told how the update would be ready for the LG G2 in the UK in March. The good news today is that the international LG G2 is now getting the official Android 4.4 update in the form of 4.4.2.

Some US carriers have already made this update available for their variants of the LG G2 and it has previously rolled out for South Korea, so users in other regions will be pleased to hear that Android 4.4.2 is now available as an OTA (over-the-air) update. You’ll find improvements for the user interface, battery life and performance, printing in the cloud, and the Knock on feature.

Bear in mind though, that as is often the case with updates you may need to be a little patient, as they often roll out in phases over several days or even weeks. However, it’s good to hear that the LG G2 int…………… continues on Phones Review

Review – LG G Flex
News from What Mobile:

Smartphones are either fat, thin, huge or tiny. But what unites them is that they’re all flat. That is until LG flexed its muscle with the G Flex. Its latest high- end device has a 6-inch screen and is curved from top to bottom, resembling a slightly- warped factory defect.

What purpose does this bend serve? LG offers a few suggestions: to fit the shape of your face better, to enhance the video-viewing experience and to reduce the distance between mouth and microphone and ear and speaker.

The price for all this elaborate tech is £570, making the Flex one of the most expensive phones on the market. Is LG kidding itself that bendiness is ‘innovation’ that warrants such a high price?

Design

While LG has talked up the G Flex’s dent, you might not notice it straight away. The bend is very slight and only really noticeable when looking at the phone side-on. Still, it does slide along the side of your face as promised, although this is hardly the ergonomic miracle mankind has been waiting for.

From a design viewpoint the curve isn’t groundbreaking. It feels like a gimmick. It has no purpose e…………… continues on What Mobile

Reported Screenshots From the LG G3 Leaked, Confirms QHD Display
News from Droid Life:

Even if Samsung apparently gave consumers the shaft with no QHD display on the Galaxy S5, and the company’s CEO denies any type of premium line of the device that features one, LG is wasting no time in making one of its own.

In new reported screenshots leaked from the possibly upcoming LG G3, a QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 is all but confirmed.

Besides the size of the shots, not much else can be seen. It appears obvious that the device will come running Android 4.4+ Kit Kat, and of course, come running LG’s custom skin atop it.
