LG Optimus G Reviews: An Android Powerhouse Daring the Smartphone Titans

LG Optimus G Reviews: An Android Powerhouse Daring the Smartphone Titans
News from International Business Times AU:

LG’s Optimus smartphone lines can be considered as the South Korean consumer electronic firm’s saviour. The handsets are largely credited for nudging LG out of the red column, chalking up respectable profits after the global smartphone scrambling had ended for the September 2012 quarter.

If LG would stay on the same recovery course in time for reports to be divulge January next year remains to be seen. But mostly, the company’s numbers depend on how Optimus phones would fare in the months of October through December, analysts said.

And headlining LG’s Q4 thrust is the Optimus G, all set to tussle it out with the smartphone flavours of the current quarter such as Apple’s iPhone 5, Nokia’s Lumia 920, HTC’s Droid DNA and the hottest-selling of them all in Q3 2012 – Samsung’s Galaxy S3.

Is Optimus G up to the task? Myriam Joire of Engadget thinks it is. Experiencing how the gadget showed off its wares led Ms Joire to label this LG phone as a ‘performance beast’ while running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich.<…………… continues on International Business Times AU

CNET Editors’ Rating
News from CNET:

LG hasn’t had much luck with impressive keyboard phones. The LG Optimus Slider runs on Android Gingerbread and has a poor camera, and the LG Rumor Reflex is too basic for my taste. But when Sprint introduced the LG Mach at MobileCon about a month ago, it had a lot of potential.

For one thing, it natively ships with the new(ish) Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, and it has a swift dual-core processor. Its additional specs and features also make it competitive with other higher midrange devices.

The handset is available from Sprint and is priced at the $ 100 sweet spot after a two-year contract and mail-in rebate. For anyone on this carrier looking for a midlevel keyboard phone, the LG Mach is definitely worth considering.

Design
The LG Mach’s design is nothing new, and it has a similar look to the

LG F240 leaked, another 1080p smartphone display
News from Tapscape:

With the Droid DNA becoming the first US phone to have a 1080p display, it seems the race is on for the next valiant manufacturer to build a similar or better display to outmatch HTC and Verizon’s baby. The leak, from GLBenchmark, shows a device named the LG F240 that has a 1080p display.

The LG Optimus G was the top Android display, for a few weeks, then Verizon and HTC rolled out their Droid DNA, a giant 5-inch smartphone with an impressive design and display. According to the leak, the LG F240 will have 1080p display and a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, the same as the Droid DNA does. Additionally, the LG F240 has an Adreno 320 GPU to smooth gaming and g…………… continues on Tapscape

LG Nexus 4 Review – Droid Life
News from LG Nexus 4 Review – Droid Life:

The LG Nexus 4 wasn’t much of a secret when Google finally announced it. After appearing in a variety of forms and rumors for weeks ahead of its unveiling, we thought we knew all there was to know about it. That of course, was not true. But once we finally got a hold of it, we wondered if there were enough hidden secrets or highlights to make this ultra-affordable Nexus stand out from a crowded holiday smartphone lineup or if the lack of LTE would be a deal breaker? Let’s talk about it.

The Good:

  • Specs:  When it comes to specs, there are few phones that can compare to the LG Nexus 4. It has the latest and greatest processor (quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro), 2GB RAM, an 8MP camera, wireless charging, NFC, and one of the best displays in the business (4.7″ HD IPS+). It may lack an LTE chip, which could be a deal breaker for some, but if you can live with HSPA+ data speeds (which aren’t slow), then you can’t really go wrong here. The Nexus 4 is essentially a…………… continues on LG Nexus 4 Review – Droid Life

News from Best Movies Ever Entertainment News:

I really liked the Samsung Galaxy S3, but I felt if was a little flimsy for what you paid for. The LG Optimus G has really stepped it up in quality. We had no idea how many of them were out there until they started pouring in. Now we’re on to tablets…which is where the real fun begins!

So far, with all the smart phones, we’ve reviewed the

LG F240K Android smartphone appears on GLBenchmark

Sunday, November 18th, 2012

LG F240K Android smartphone appears on GLBenchmark
News from The Droid Guy:

South Korean phone-maker, LG, is currently working on yet another Android smartphone. While there is scarcity of information available for now, GLBenchmark’s website suggests the new device will have a model number F240K, or whatever that means. Apparently, the device doesn’t have a name yet and LG hasn’t actually confirmed its existence. This report is based solely on GLBenchmark’s, one of the many mobile benchmark platforms, data having posted on its website.

There are only a few things revealed about LG F240K but they are helpful enough for us to speculate what this device is made and what it’s capable of.

OS. LG F240K will be showcasing Google’s latest version of Android, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This will put LG a step ahead of its competitors knowing majority of the manufacturers are going to release their devices with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Almost everyone knows that even if a manufacturer promises to roll out an update soon after the release, it would still take at least three months to complete. So, it would be better for them to release updated devices than make promises.

Resolution. LG’s new device comes packed with 1920 x 1080 reso…………… continues on The Droid Guy

LG Nexus 4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S3: Can the Google phone features beat …
News from Examiner.com:

It is now a few weeks before the official start of the Christmas season, and the smartphone industry already has its main players on the market. Two of the key players will certainly be the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the new Nexus 4,which is manufactured by LG. The Galaxy S3 has been on the market for several months now, and the LG Nexus 4 was just released Tuesday.

Both smartphones run on the Android operating system and their dimensions are very similar. There is a slight difference in weight in favor of the Samsung Galaxy S3, weighing a few grams less than the continues on Examiner.com

LG Nexus 4 Review: Google’s new phone rivals Galaxy S3, Lumia 920 and …
News from Examiner.com:

Manufactured by LG, the new Google Nexus 4 phone (released on Tuesday) brings a very smooth and responsive interface, plus a few new surprises. With a large HD screen of 4.7 inches (11.9 cm), a Qualcomm quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM, the device promises a lot, especially because it is the first to take advantage of version 4.2 of Android.

The design of the Nexus 4 is simple, but yet very elegant. Its large screen size imposes its 15:9 ratio with a beautiful efficiency. It is also very bright (465 cd / m², according to measurements) and displays deep blacks (1661:1 contrast). Plastic materials are discrete on the perimeter of the smartphone. The back of the device, which is covered with a glass surface, is well reinforced against scratches. However, there is concern if it will break in case of bad fall. The Nexus 4 is rather thin and light for its size, but be careful, little hands will be hampered by the width of the touch screen.

LG Nexus 4: Why did the Google phone sell-out so quickly on the Play Store?

LG Nexus 4: Why did the Google phone sell-out so quickly on the Play Store?
News from Examiner.com:

Upon entering the Google Play Store you will find out that the rumors are true: the Nexus 4, both 8 and 16 GB, are sold-out. What is the reason for these two devices having so much success with the public and, therefore, are sweeping the phone market? Here are a few reasons.

The first, and most important reason, is obviously the price. This product is sold directly from the Google Play Store and its starting price is $ 299 for the 8 GB and $ 349 for the 16. These are quite low prices, especially if one takes into account the smartphone’s excellent specifications. This new Nexus includes, for example, a quad-core SoC, 2 GB of RAM and also is the first to include the new version of the operating system Android 2.4 (Jelly Bean).

The power of the Nexus brand is another factor, because obviously it is gaining followers. Also with this phone manufactured by LG, in either of its two versions, expands its prod…………… continues on Examiner.com

LG Optimus Regard available from Cricket as first 4G LTE phone
News from Android Community:

The popular regional and prepaid carrier Cricket has just released a brand new Android smartphone today, although we certainly wouldn’t call it high end. The new LG Optimus Regard is available today from Cricket and is their first 4G LTE capable smartphone. It surely isn’t high-end, or cheap, but head below for more details.

Cricket is a large regional carrier that also happens to have millions of pre-paid customers too. Not offering contracts means you won’t get subsidized pricing on smartphones. For that reason alone this phone ends up being quite expensive, while not offering much compared to other carriers. For those looking to save on their monthly bill however, this could be a great choice.

The LG Optimus Regard is their first 4G LTE smartphone, which is also a retooled LG Motion 4G on MetroPCS — another regional carrier. The new phone is available online and in stores today from Cricket for a price of $ 249, but at least you won’t be singing any contracts.

The Regard comes with a 3.5-inch display with a painful 320×480 resolution, but is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, offers a 5 megapixel camera, 8GB of storage, 4G LTE, and a decent 1,700 mAh battery. It also runs on Android 4.0…………… continues on Android Community

LG Nexus 4: Google’s new phone features rival Galaxy Note 2 and Nokia Lumia …
News from Examiner.com:

The new smartphone from Google will finally arrive tomorrow after weeks of waiting and now is the time to see what the LG-Google partnership can do. Google wanted to do things differently with this smartphone and it will be sold unlocked at an affordable price of $ 299. This is good news because the price of the smartphone is not as excessive as those of the competition. The Nexus 4 of Google and LG not only brings very good equipment, but it is also a bargain. Google’s own smartphones have always had a high priority in the camp of Android fans, because manufacturers do not affect the user interface as is the case with Samsung or HTC. However, the smartphone still has its problems.

The Nexus 4 will be able to operate throughout the world thanks to its compatibility with GSM / HSPA +(no LTE). The smartphone has a screen size of 4.7 inches and has a resolution of 1280 x 768. Nexus 4 will be sold in 8 GB or 16 GB, it embeds a 2100 mAh battery and an 8 megapixel camera with the ability to shoot video in 1080p.

The front is dominated by the large display, thus the Nexus 4 acts as a unified whole and the anodized frame reinforce…………… continues on Examiner.com

Phone fight: LG Nexus 4 vs Samsung Galaxy S3
News from Geek:

Every year, for the last four years, Google has released a smartphone that acts as the shining example of how Mountain View thinks Android should look and feel. These Nexus phones appeal to hardcore Android fans, but for a number of  reasons, one has yet to become a top-selling Android smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S3, however, is without a doubt the most successful Android smartphone to have ever been released.

So, when considering which phone you should buy, where do you turn? Should you “go Google” with the Nexus 4 or hop on board the Galaxy S3 train?

Which Galaxy S3?

Our first stop would typically be to compare the hardware points against each other an point out which is the more powerful. There’s kind of a hitch with that, though. As of right now there are several different variants of the Galaxy S3. There’s the HSPA+ version with a quad-core Exynos processor with 1GB of RAM and an LTE version that has a dual-core Snapdragon processo…………… continues on Geek
