LG Vu 5in Android phone-tablet review
News from Reg Hardware:

Mercedes vs BMW, Boeing vs Airbus, Asda vs Tesco: the world is full of directly competing commercial entities locked in a bitter struggle for market share. In Korea, Samsung and LG go head-to-head in much the same way, so it’s no surprise that LG has cooked up a rival to Samsung’s Galaxy Note.

The LG Vu doesn’t seem so odd at an angle…

Called the Vu, it’s one of the weirdest devices I’ve ever clapped eyes or laid hands on, thanks to its highly unusual 5in, 1024 x 768 screen.

That large screen naturally has an impact on the Vu’s physical size so while it may not be remarkably heavy, tall or thick it is very wide. At 90.4mm across the Vu is almost a full centimeter wider than Samsung’s already broad Galaxy Note 2.

…but face on, it doesn’t quite look right

The Vu isn’t impossible to hold comfortably to your ear for prolonged periods – I managed and hardly have the hands of a navvy – but the width is a factor you should keep in mind if you plan on using it in a primarily telephonic role and are a bit dainty in the prehensile extremity depart…………… continues on Reg Hardware

LG Optimus G (AT&T)

LG Optimus G (AT&T)
News from PC Magazine:

By Alex Colon

The LG Optimus G ($ 199.99) has all the makings of a killer smartphone. From its 4.7-inch 720p display to its quad-core processor, this is definitely the fastest smartphone on AT&T, and one of the nicest looking, too. Its 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor turned in the fastest benchmarks we’ve ever seen on an Android phone—even faster than the model we tested on Sprint. And 4G LTE speeds on AT&T were positively smoking. Unfortunately, all that speed makes for some overheating issues, and camera performance is average at best. The Optimus G is a beast of a phone, but it isn’t perfect.

LG Exec Says Nexus 4 Will Be Announced On October 29th, Available In Indian …
News from Android Police:

We’ve heard plenty of rumors, and at this point, we have no reason to doubt that there will be an LG Nexus phone appearing at Google’s Android event on October 29th. Now, courtesy of LG’s head of Mobile Product Planning at an Optimus Vu launch event in New Delhi, we have an idea of when the phone might roll out. If Indian market availability is any indication, that is. Speaking to IBN Live (an Indian news organization of which CNN owns a 26% share), the exec had this to say:

“Google will unveil the LG Nexus on October 29 and the phone will be available in the Indian markets by the end of November.”

The former part of the quote, we already knew of course, though at least this is some confirmation from the h…………… continues on Android Police

LG Intuition 4G LTE Smartphone review – The Gadgeteer
News from LG Intuition 4G LTE Smartphone review – The Gadgeteer:

What do you get when you take a smartphone and a tablet and put them in a dark room with some Barry White music on the stereo? A bouncing baby Phablet, that’s what. Phablet’s are becoming pretty popular lately. Just look at the oversized smartphones like the Samsung GALAXY Note and Note 2. But what about a phone like the LG Intuition, which looks much less like a phone and more like a mini tablet?  Verizon Wireless sent me one to try for a few days. Here are some quick thoughts.

Happy 2nd Birthday Windows Phone 7: This Is Your Life
News from TechCrunch:

Windows Phone 7, Microsoft’s big return to the smartphone stage after Windows Mobile’s gradual decline and demise, turns two today, according to a tweet by Joel Belfiore, Microsoft’s head of Windows Phone product definition and design. So I thought it would be fitting to take a look back at Windows Phone 7′s life up until now, and what the mobile OS has or hasn’t done for Microsoft so far.

On October 21, 2010, the first Windows Phone 7 handsets officially went on sale in New Zealand, Australia and parts of Europe and Asia. 10 launch devices brought the mobile OS to users, made by HTC, Dell, Samsung and LG (early highlights of the lineup included the LG Optimus 7, Samsung Omnia 7 and HTC HD7), spanning 60 carriers in 30 countries, and expanding to more in 2011. Early sales were promising in some markets, and even generated lines according to an AT&T spokesman, but overall failed to impress, with only 40,000 total units reportedly sold in the first day of U.S. availability.

LG Optimus Vu unleashed now for India
News from Phones Review:

If you are one of our many loyal readers in India and have a preference for smartphones with larger screens then we have good news for you today. The LG Optimus Vu, sometimes described as a ‘phablet’ has now been launched in India with a special press event for it on Monday and in other regions where it has already been released it has been hugely popular. It could be real competition then for the already-released Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

We’ve written many times now about the LG Optimus Vu and its natural competition the Galaxy Note 2 and we think many readers in India will be pleased to see the arrival of the Optimus Vu. It’s priced at Rs 34,500 as opposed to the Galaxy Note 2 at around Rs 39,000 and has some very decent specs as well as looking very sleek and stylish.

Some of the key specs and features of the Optimus Vu include a 1.5GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 5-inch XGA IPS display with resolution of 1024 x 768 and 256ppi, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (not expandable). Leak Reveals Full Details On LG’s Nexus Phone
News from WebProNews:

We know that LG is making a Nexus phone for Google. The only thing was that we didn’t know much about the phone. There were a few images, but nothing else. A leak today provides us a lot more information, and you should be excited.

Master leaker @evleaks revealed on Twitter this morning the full specs for the LG Nexus 4. The original leaked imaged showed a device that looked similar to LG’s recently unveiled Optimus G handset. The new image, while not as detailed, appears to look similar.

Unfortunately, @evleaks doesn’t have shots of the back or sides of the device. The front can only tell us so much, and even then, it’s not much. That’s where the specs of the device come in, and @evleaks has them.

The phone will feature a 1.5GHz Quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 1280×768 4.7-inch display, 2GB of RAM, 8GB/16GB internal storage, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, Jelly Bean, 2100mAh battery, and it’s all contained in a package that’s 9.1mm thick. Any way you slice it, those are some impressive specs. There’s no word on connectivity speeds, but

LG Optimus G will finally land on AT&T on November 2
News from Technology Bloom News:

One of the most awaited smartphones of the season is the LG’s newest flagship phone. While LG is normally not the best manufacturer choice when choosing an Android device, it would seem that the power, camera and performance it was able to create in the new smartphone have made a huge wave in the Android market.

The LG Optimus G is considered the most powerful Android handset upon its release, and if the rumors are confirmed, it is also the base of the Nexus device from Google. Carriers in the US don’t want to pass up on this hype, and AT&T has been quick to make their announcement regarding the device.

AT&T will apparently start shipping the new LG Optimus G on November 2. The LTE capable device is ready for pre-order this week, and it will only be a matter of time before LG finds out if the hype generated by the new device will translate well into sales.

AT&T plans to sell the phone at $ 199 on a 2 year contract. This price puts it on par with slower handsets of the network, such as the widely popular Samsung Galaxy S3, giving it a huge edge in price to power ratio.

Review: The LG Optimus G

More by Armando Rodriguez

The LG Optimus G is a revelation, which is surprising considering LG hasn’t had a flagship phone like this in quite some time. With its crystal-clear high-resolution display, quad-core processor, and useful software tweaks, the Optimus G is one of the better Android phones released this year. That holds true for both the AT&T and Sprint versions of the phone, each of which has its own set of pros and cons. LG sent us both versions to review, and I’ve found that the two share many of the same characteristics. Despite their quirks, both are worthy contenders.

LG Optimus G (Sprint)

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012

LG Optimus G (Sprint)
News from PC Magazine:

By Alex Colon

I really wanted to love the LG Optimus G (available starting November 11 for $ 199.99). Everything about it, from the quad-core processor to the 13-megapixel camera to the sleek design, pretty much screams Editors’ Choice. But this is an unfortunate example in which the whole is not greater than the sum of its parts. On the plus side, the Optimus G’s quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor turned in the fastest benchmarks scores we’ve ever seen on an Android phone. But the 13-megapixel camera doesn’t live up to its lofty resolution rating, the phone has a tendency to run hot, and the lack of a microSD slot limits your storage options. If you want the ultimate in pure processing power, it’s worth your attention, but if you want the best smartphone on Sprint, I’m afraid this isn’t quite it.

LG phones beat Samsung in battery life

LG phones beat Samsung in battery life
News from Android Community:

LG is claiming battery superiority, and it has just performed tests designed to prove it. LG tested its own Optimus G against a Samsung Galaxy S III. This is an interesting move on LG’s part. Going directly at one of its competitors and coming out ahead with a feature as important as battery life could be quite important for LG.

Both devices sport 2,100 mAh batteries. They put the devices head to head for talking on the phone, and watching and filming videos. According to LG, the Optimus G came out ahead on all fronts. LG’s results show that one could talk on the phone for 15.8 consecutive hours on the Optimus G compared to 9.5 hours on the Galaxy S III. They also found that the Optimus G records videos for 3.8 hours and plays them for 7.9 hours. The Galaxy S III, on the other hand, records for 2.8 hours and plays for 7.3 hours.

LG says the tests were conducted using the same conditions for both devices. Both phones were set to 50% backlight for the entirety of the test and both were on LG’s Uplus network. They also tested both devices for reporters at an event and showed the real-time difference in energy consumption between the two devices.

LG says it did not do this test as an attack against Samsung. Rather, they were attempting to clear up some misconceptions abou…………… continues on Android Community

LG Nexus 4 Leaked

Sunday, October 14th, 2012

LG Nexus 4 Leaked
News from Examiner.com:

Earlier today, several sources revealed the specs and leaked images of the next Google Nexus device. This device will most likely be the launch vehicle for the next iteration of the Android Operating System. which will likely be a small incremental upgrade over a larger one. The device has a 4.75 inch screen, but it also has a smaller top bezel than the Galaxy Nexus does. It’ll contain a quad core Qualcomm processor, and 2 GB of ram to supplement that. It does have a different rear design, which takes from the Nexus 7′s back. You can click on the image of the device above to see more of it’s design.

Additional specs include a 8 MP rear facing camera(as opposed to the Galaxy Nexus’ 5 MP one), as well as comes with 8GB of internal memory, and nobody else seems to have heard of any bigger variants, but I would not be surprised to see some with 16GB or 32GB.. On top of that, the battery is not removable, which is unfortunate. The back of the device has a matrix style design to it, with different elements of the back catching light at different angle. This creates a look sim…………… continues on Examiner.com

LG Optimus G up for pre-order at Rogers
News from The Droid Guy:

LG Optimus G is said to be the most powerful smartphone manufactured by LG, and its hardware specs support the claim. The device went on sale few weeks back in South Korea and the company has received better response than expected. The phone has managed to create a lot of buzz.

The device will be launched very soon in the U.S., in fact the device is said to have made its way through FCC today. According to the regulatory approval papers, a LG device with code E975 has been approved by the agency. The device that has been passed can very well be the Optimus G for AT&T considering the fact that it supports GSM 850/1900 frequencies, in addition to W-CDMA and LTE networks.

If you live in Canada and dying to be an LG Optimus G owner, here’s good news for you. Rogers has already started accepting pre orders for this iconic device and will supposedly launch the device in the 2nd week of November. We’re not sure what the exact date is, but if you take a close look at the picture you will find that the device is displaying November 13th, so we’re assuming it will be launched on 13th, but that’s a rough assumption and take it with a pinch of salt.
