LG LS860 Cayenne for Sprint, LG MS770 Motion 4G for MetroPCS appear in …
News from PhoneDog:

Shortly after leaking details on a Samsung-made Android phone for Verizon, the @evleaks Twitter account has now posted details on two unannounced LG handsets. The first device is the LG Cayenne for Sprint, which we’ve seen a couple of times in the past. Also going by the model number LS860, the Cayenne’s spec sheet is said to include a 4-inch WVGA display, 5-megapixel rear camera, Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 4G LTE and Android 4.0. There’s also a physical QWERTY keyboard bolted on.

Meanwhile, MetroPCS customers can reportedly look forward to the LG Motion 4G making its way to their carrier. The Motion 4G features the model number MS770 and is rumored to sport a qHD (960×540) display on its face and a 5-megapixel camera around back. We’re also told to expect a Snapdragon chipset, 4G LTE and Android 4.0. The @evleaks account also claims that there may be an AT&T version of the Motion 4G coming with th…………… continues on PhoneDog

LG IPS7 Series LCD IPS displays pack MHL for easy phone hookup
News from SlashGear:

Worth Reading?

LG has a pair of new LED IPS displays on offer, the IPS7 Series, promising high-quality graphics using technology borrowed from the company’s big-screen TV range, though scaled to suit the average desk. The 27-inch LG IPS277L and its smaller 23-inch IPS237L sibling each eschew the mainstream TN panels common on external displays, as well as throwing in MHL-HDMI ports for easier connectivity with smartphones and tablets.

The LCDs themselves are dressed in skinny bezels, with the edges just 1.2mm thick; the monitors as a whole are 14.1mm deep, and sit on trim metallic stands. Controls are all discrete capacitive to…………… continues on SlashGear

Nokia May Launch Windows Phone 8 Ahead of Competitors
News from Technorati:

Author: Jesse Bauer
Published: July 20, 2012 at 4:45 pm

Nokia may be getting an exclusive early launch of the next mobile operating system from Microsoft. ahead of other Windows Phone 7 manufacturers like Samsung, HTC and LG. Stephen Elop, Nokia CEO, made mention of this in a statement to the NY Times. He mentioned that Windows Phone 8 would be “Launched in September”, which has a good head start on the tentative launch date at the beginning of November 2012.

It should be made clear that Elop didn’t specifically state that Nokia would be launching WP8 devices in September prior to HTC, Samsung or LG devices, but with Microsoft mentioning it’s launch dates for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 near the end of October, one has to wonder why Elop would state to the NY Times that we would see it in September. Clearly, he knows something that we don’t.

After Nokia released its financials this week of an operating loss of over $ 1 Billion, a turnaround is needed. Having a solid month to sell Nokia WP8 devices on the market ahead of a new iPhone launch would be the right thing to d…………… continues on Technorati

LG CNS partners with Korean telecos to launch NFC access control system

LG CNS partners with Korean telecos to launch NFC access control system
News from NFCNews:

Korean IT service provider LG CNS has signed a memorandum of understanding with telecos KT and LG U+ to launch an access control system that uses NFC-enabled phones in place of traditional work ID badges.

The new service, targeted toward public institutions and corporations, enables employers to issue access credentials over the air to the SIM-based secure element on an employee’s NFC phone. The employee can then access and use the credentials via a downloadable applet.

LG CNS staff and employees are scheduled to pilot the new service this October, followed by a commercial roll out delivered through the NFC infrastructure established by KT and LG U+. LG CNS is also planning to add new features to the service over time, including a business traffic card, employee welfare point payment, and salary-linked small-sum payment services.

LG Optimus Vu, Verizon’s suspect Note alternative
News from Product Reviews:

With all of the exciting talk surrounding the elusive Samsung Galaxy Note 2, there is still the matter of the first Note arriving on new carriers in the US. T-Mobile is now getting the device and although a Galaxy Note on Verizon doesn’t look to be happening any more, Big Red does have another ‘phablet’ device for consumers to consider.

LG has a smartphone and tablet combi in the pipeline after first announcing the device back at MWC 2012 in February, and it looks like the LG Optimus Vu is now ready for launch. The bad news is that the design seems to be coming in for a lot of criticism, as many of you are unhappy with the rectangular design firstly, but also the amount of branding on the device as well.

The Vu is a 5-inch device which Verizon hopes will provide consumers with a Galaxy Note-like experience on their network. Hardware specs are decent, but nothing amazing either – you’ll get a 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage and an 8MP rear camera combined with a 1.8MP front camera.

The choice of software may be a disappointment too, especially with all of the buzz surrounding Jelly Bean at the moment. A

LG Optimus Vu Phone-Tablet Coming to Verizon

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

LG Optimus Vu Phone-Tablet Coming to Verizon
News from PCWorld:

The LG Optimus Vu, a 5-inch tablet/smartphone combo similar to the popular Samsung Galaxy Note, is headed for Verizon’s 4G LTE network, and will reportedly ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

According to the folks over at Android Police, the phone-tablet, or “phablet” is a “horrendous boxy eyesore” with a 5-inch display. Even when compared to the 4.8-inch Samsung Galaxy S III, the Optimus Vu looks extremely large. In PCWorld’s Optimus Vu review, Armando Rodriguez found the poor design makes the tablet-phone uncomfortable to hold and awkward to use. However, Rodriguez admits that the phablet is otherwise impressive in both specs and performance.

The shift comes after multiple failed attempts to salvage market share in the fiercely-competitive feature phone and entry-level smartphone segments.

These companies may have globally decided to move out of feature phones as early as last year, but were still selling them in India in a last-ditch attempt to gain a presence after losing out to competition from Nokia, and home-grown brands Micromax and Karbonn. In entry-level smartphones, Samsung has thrown a big challenge to all by launching multiple models in the sub- Rs 10,000 segment running on Google’s popular Android smartphone operating system.

Even smartphone brands like Acer and Dell are significantly pruning their presence in the Indian market after failing to crack it. Dell, which last year built a portfolio of…………… continues on Economic Times

LG to up outsourcing for handset production
News from Korea Times:

By Kim Yoo-chul

LG Electronics has planned to increase its outsourcing of handset production this year in order to expand its global market share, according to a company executive, Monday.

He said that although there was a chance the move could undermine its corporate image, it anticipates that expanding outsourcing will help the phone business regain its competitive edge.

“LG plans to double production outside the Korean Peninsula by the end of this year,” said a senior LG executive, Monday, on condition of anonymity.

This means that a maximum of 7.2 million handsets are going to be manufactured by LG’s main OEM partners including Foxconn of Taiwan. LG’s target is to sell 80 million handsets this year, 35 million of which will be smartphones, according to the company.

Currently, outsourcing accounts for about 5 percent of production, but LG plans to increase this to 8 or 9 percent. “Manufacturing of premium models will mostly remain local, though,” said the executive.

He claimed that LG Electronics still has no intention of re-entering the ultra low-end of market for handsets, which today sell for below $ 50. The company identified “quality” as the top priority’ of its mobile phone business.

However, LG spokesman Na Young-phil denied the report, saying that the company plans to maintain the outsourcing portion…………… continues on Korea Times

LG Optimus L7: The Classy Entry-Level Hero
News from Caribbean Media Vision:

Simply looking at it, one can feel the sheer elegance and sophistication that the LG Optimus L7 is presented with. Surely, one must ground his or her expectations with the speed and fierceness of this smartphone compared to other finely tuned gadgets since it can only be considered as an entry-level of its class, but surely, its look tells you otherwise. LG Optimus L7 leads the pack of the L-Style series from Korean mobile phone manufacturer LG. Let’s see how the smartphone market has been treating this new LG.

DESIGN

Hands-down, the LG Optimus L7 is one sexy and handsome phone. It has a robust-looking chrome-like cover that makes it look more expensive that it truly is. Also, it has physical buttons that sets it apart from other smartphones which usually just sports a Home button. It also bears a sturdy glass made from Conrning Gorilla Glass and has the size of 4.3-inch NOVA. LG Optimus L7 comes in two colors: black and white. As what tech critics would describe it, its design possesses the combination of boring and beautiful which makes up for its elegance. There’s not much to look at, but it makes you feel that it is classy.

PERFORMANCE

Sporting a 1 GHz single core processor, one must simply gather their expectations on the ground, though the LG Optimus L7…………… continues on Caribbean Media Vision

LG Optimus 4X takes on One X, Galaxy S III

LG Optimus 4X takes on One X, Galaxy S III
News from Fudzilla:

Review: Good, but still not quite there

LG was the first company to introduce a dual-core phone and actually ship it. The company behind the processor was Nvidia and its Tegra 2 chip powered last year’s LG Optimus 2X. LG clearly wanted to continue this collaboration and tapped Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 for its new flagship, the Optimus 4X.

The phone was announced back at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in February and it started shipping in mid to late June, at least in major European markets including Austria and Germany. Other countries should start getting the new Optimus in July.

We managed to get our hands on a white sample, but the phone is also available in black, although we find the white version somewhat more attractive. The MSRP stands at €499, which is pretty much the norm in the Android superphone market. Besides the Tegra 3 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, the most notable parts of the spec include a very nice 4.7-inch IPS LCD display in 1280×720 resolution, with Corning Gorilla Glass on top. It also comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 2140 mAh battery and 1GB of RAM.

The test version shipped with 16GB or memory of which some 12 GB are available to the user and it is also worth noting that this phone has a micro SD…………… continues on Fudzilla

LG Optimus L7 Review
News from Recombu:

The LG Optimus L7 is a lithe white or black device that seems to pack in a fair few great features. Not only do you have a 4.3-inch WVGA display, there’s also NFC and Ice Cream Sandwich under the hood. It isn’t meant to be an explicitly premium handset though. Costing around £250, the L7 packs a slightly dated single-core 1GHz processor. The question is, how does the hardware cope with the pressures of Android 4.0 and todays memory intensive apps?

LG Optimus L7 – Design

The L7′s design is an amalgam of a Samsung Galaxy S2, an LG Prada and a fridge freezer. The results leave us with mixed feelings. On the one hand, the phone feels solid, the large screen sits well and the chrome-like accents along the top and sides coupled with the white might work for some white-phone fanatics. On the downside, the combination of sharp angles up top and smooth…………… continues on Recombu
