So how many upcoming LG Windows Phones are there?
News from LiveSide:

Ever since LG released their last Windows Phone – the LG Jil Sander E906, the company had almost completely disappeared from the Windows Phone front, with the company making no contribution to the Windows Phone 7.5 “Mango” generation of devices. However, every now and then there’s rumors and leaks about some sort of upcoming LG Windows Phone device, but these leaks were scarce, and no one seems to be keeping track of what the company is up to. In this post, we’ll attempt to gather all we know about LG’s upcoming Windows Phones, which we hope will give people a better idea of what to expect from the company – if they ever plan to bring these devices on to the market. The LG Optimus 4X HD
News from Superior Hardware And Software – Caribbean Media Vision:

Back in 2010, LG’s 2X was the first smartphone to come packed with a 1 GHz dual-core processor under the hood. Soon after, other manufacturers started to launch their own handsets sporting these powerful processors. In 2011, the most popular of these handsets was the Samsung Galaxy S2. Now, LG has officially launched another super phone. This is the LG Optimus 4X HD. This phone comes with superior hardware and software only a handful of devices can compete with.

LG’s new super phone comes with one of the largest touch screens in the market. It sports a 4.7 inch HD-IPS LCD capacitive touch screen sporting a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Only a few smartphones in the market sport similar screen sizes. One is the Windows Phone-powered HTC Titan. Another is the HTC One X.

When it comes to storage, the phone sports 16 GB of internal memory. This will allow you to store things like videos, pictures, apps, and other files. Of course, there’s always a chance that the 16 GB of storage will not be enough for your files and multi-media. If this is what you’re worried about, there’s no need to worry. The smartphone supports as much as 32 GB from a micro-SD card.

With all the storage options the phone has to offer, you are sure to download a lot of apps, capture memories, and upload them to your favorite social network using the LG Optimus 4X HD. Thankfu…………… continues on Superior Hardware And Software – Caribbean Media Vision

LG Viper 4G LTE Review

LG Viper 4G LTE Review
News from Android Community:

The brand new 4G powered LG Viper 4G LTE will be available in a few short days. Starting April 22nd for the Now Network. Being the first LTE device not on Verizon or AT&T we wanted to give it a quick look. LTE still isn’t quite available from the Now Network, as it replaces their WiMAX, but we’ve tossed the phone through the ringer anyways so read on below for our full thoughts and plenty of pictures.

Hardware
Now the LG Viper is a nice phone that is for sure. The look, feel, and build quality are all pretty top notch. Sadly the specs leave a little to be desired but here’s a rundown of the hardware you’ll get. The Viper 4G LTE comes with a 4.0-inch 480 x 800 display that is bright and decently crisp, but if you’ve seen or used a 720p HD phone or even a qHD like the HTC EVO 3D you’ll be disappointed. We have a Qualcomm 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. Around back it’s outfitted with a 5 megapixel camera with flash, capable of 720p video.

According to LG the Viper has a “platinum” rating by UL Environment for its sustainable build quality and packaging. Claiming the phone’s body is 50 percent recycl…………… continues on Android Community

Hands On: LG Optimus Elite for Sprint and Virgin
News from PC Magazine:

We got to check out LG’s eco-friendly Optimus Elite for Sprint and Virgin. Here’s what we saw.

Sprint and Virgin Mobile recently announced the LG Optimus Elite, a new, inexpensive, eco-friendly Android smartphone. PCMag got a chance to see both phones up close.

The green features are really being played up on these phones, so let’s look at those first. For starters, the Optimus Elite is ULE Platinum Certified, which is the highest level of environmental performance recognized by sustainable requirements established by UL Environment and Sprint. The phone’s casing is made of 50 percent recycled plastic, and is RoHS compliant, which means it is free from many potentially hazardous materials such as halogens, mercury, phthalates, and PVC.

The phone also comes with a charger that exceeds the EC Code of Conduct on energy efficiency when it comes to no-load consumption. Unlike many other chargers, the Optimus Elite’s charger only consumes 0.03 watts of power when plugged into a wall socket…………… continues on PC Magazine

LG Lucid Review: Solid 4G LTE Smartphone for First Time Users – Gotta Be Mobile
News from LG Lucid Review: Solid 4G LTE Smartphone for First Time Users – Gotta Be Mobile:

The LG Lucid on Verizon Wireless is an affordable 4G LTE Android smartphone with the first time smartphone owner in mind.

The Lucid may not have all the bells and whistles found on phones 2-3 times its price, but it does offer a fast 4G LTE connection, good battery life, solid build quality and an attractive upfront cost.

LG and Verizon promise that the Lucid will see an update to Android 4.0, the current Android operating system, but that shouldn’t be a deciding factor for shoppers interested in the Lucid.

The cost of a new smartphone is a minor part of the overall cost of ownership, so the $ 79.99 price after rebate is not the only thing to consider when looking at the LG Lucid.

I would not recommend the Lucid to my media loving sister, but it would be near the top of a list of phones recommended to my mother or my father-in-law had he not just purchased a $ 120 flip phone to avoid another data plan.

Read on to find out if the LG Lucid can meet the needs of new smartphone owners.

LG Rumor Reflex (Boost Mobile)

LG Rumor Reflex (Boost Mobile)
News from CNET:

Editors note: Because they are nearly identical devices, our review for the LG Rumor Reflex on Sprint’s network is the same for Boost Mobile’s.

Psst…have you heard the news? The LG Rumor is back, and this time it’s called the Rumor Reflex. With a slightly bumped up camera, sleeker design, new touch screen, and a more expansive keyboard, the Reflex is a welcomed face-lift. Although it doesn’t come with all the high-tech specs of a smartphone, it’s a handset that can do the basics reliably and with no fuss.

The device is available on Sprint’s 3G network for $ 29.99 after you sign a two-year contract and send in a mail-in $ 50 rebate. If you don’t want to commit yourself at all, this device is also available on Boost Mobile’s network for $ 79.99.

Design
The LG Rumor Reflex measures 4.2 inches tall, 2.1 inches wide, and is 0.6 inch thick. It weighs 4.7 ounces, which is light for a phone that has a physical keyboard. Though that keyboard also makes it thick, the Rumor Reflex has a petite build and it fits compactly in my hand. Also, it easily slipped into my clutch, and into my jeans pocket.

Front and center is a 3-inch WQVGA capacitive touch screen. Its resolution is only 400×240 pixels and it can disp…………… continues on CNET

LG Chem Profit Falls on Slowing Plastics Demand in China
News from Bloomberg:

LG Chem Ltd. (051910), South Korea’s biggest chemicals maker, reported a worse-than-estimated 42 percent decline in first-quarter profit as demand in China waned for materials used to make plastic and synthetic rubber.

Net income fell to 380.9 billion won ($ 334 million) in the three months ended March 31 from 656.6 billion won a year earlier, the Seoul-based company said today in a regulatory filing. That compares with the 474 billion won average of 18 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Sales rose 5 percent to 5.75 trillion won.

Demand for LG Chem’s products waned as China’s economic growth slowed for the fifth straight quarter, expanding 8.1 percent in the first three months. Business may pick up in the current quarter, aided by stable naphtha prices and seasonal demand, LG Chem said today in its statement to investors.

“The earnings were hit by slow demand in China, which is the biggest market,” Kim Seu…………… continues on Bloomberg

LG Viper 4G LTE: Eco-Friendly, Fast, but No LTE–Yet
News from PCWorld:

Click a photo to enlarge. The LG Viper ($ 100 with a new two-year contract from Sprint; price as of 4/12/12) is Sprint’s very first LTE phone. MCV Announces Expanded Rollout, LG Phone Demo

MCV Announces Expanded Rollout, LG Phone Demo
News from Twice:

By Joseph Palenchar — TWICE, 4/16/2012

Las Vegas – The Mobile Content Venture (MCV) came to the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention here to announce an expanded rollout for this year’s launch of Dyle Mobile TV service and demonstrate new Dyle consumer devices, including a prototype LG smartphone.

MCV, a consortium of TV broadcasters, plans sometime this year to launch over-the-air mobile-TV service with at least two previously disclosed devices incorporating the ATSC A/153 Mobile DTV standard. One is a Samsung-made Android Gingerbread smartphone operating on the MetroPCS cellular network. The other is a Belkin dongle that plugs into the 30-pin connector of Apple’s iPhones and iPads. Both devices use an app to select local Dyle stations and view electronic program guides (EPGs).

MCV is at the show demonstrating the LG, Samsung and Belkin devices along with an Elgato dongle for iPhones and iPads, but to date, MCV has confirmed only that the Samsung-MetroPCS phone and the Belkin dongle will be available this year.

LG’s prototype device is an Android Gingerbread-based smartphone based on the company’s Optimus Vu platform. Like the Samsung-MetroPCS phone, it uses a Dyle TV app developed by MobiTV. The LG phone also features 5-inch diagonal high-definition screen.

Reasons Why The Samsung Galaxy S2 Is Still A Popular Phone
News from News Broadcast:

Despite increasing competition from its stablemates and the new releases of other manufacturers, the Samsung Galaxy S2 remains a popular smartphone, and for the foreseeable future looks set to be the go to Android smartphone for those seeking an alternative to the iPhone 4S.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is the most successful Android smartphone, and certainly the most successful smartphone for Samsung. The handset has a spec list which provides everything you could possibly want from a smartphone, unless you are one of those who want the very latest smartphone technology available. If this is the case, Samsung has you covered, with the impressive Samsung Galaxy Note which boasts some of the best technology available. Also, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is due for release in coming weeks, so tech enthusiasts have something to look forward to.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 ticks all the boxes in pretty much every aspect of its spec list. It has an impressive 8 megapixel camera which comes with all the bells and whistles you would expect such as autofocus, touch focus, LED flash, and the ability to capture video footage in resolution settings of up to 1080p high definition.

The screen of the device is widely reported as one of the best in the business. At 4.3 inches, it shares its dimensions with several other Android devices like the HTC Sensation XE and Sony Ericsson Xper…………… continues on News Broadcast

LG Tacks On The Word “True” In The Optimus True HD LTE, Aimed At Samsung
News from The Driod Guy:

April 14th, 2012 by Derrick Miles Leave a reply »

The smartphone war between South Korean rivals LG and Samsung heats up again. This time the subject is HD. We’ve already seen the LG Optimus HD LTE in the form of the LG Nitro on AT&T however LG has snuck another word into the name of the phone and that word is True.

Why would they do that? Well according to Engadget we’re hearing that LG feels that Samsung’s HD isn’t actually true HD because of their pentile displays ala the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. LG feels their “Real Stripe HD” is actually True HD and that’s why they’ve modified the name of the already released device.

LG says that OLED has lower ppi than LG’s IPS because of the pentile structure. They contend that the Optimus LTE applies RGB stripe structure thus it’s “Real” or “True” HD.

We’ll be interested to see what Samsung will do with their next batch of displays.

Upcoming Android More High-Flying Than Samsung Galaxy S3
News from MotoringCrunch:

When it comes to high-end Android smartphones, you just have to look at the flagship devices from the top Android manufacturers in the world – Samsung, HTC, Motorola & LG.

While these manufacturers are focused on consumer electronics in general, there is now another company that plans to jump into the Android game. The difference is, this particular company isn’t into building consumer electronics exactly and is more of a ‘high-flyer’. Done guessing who we’re talking about? It’s Boeing.

Boeing Phone: An Android more ‘high flying’ than even the Samsung Galaxy S3

According to the National Defense Magazine, Boeing who specializes in aerospace and defense will be releasing its first smartphone in 2012. It will be a high-end, super-secure phone based on Google’s Android.

While the Samsung Galaxy brand dabbles in aerospace, if not by name only (‘Galaxy’ S3, ‘SkyRocket’, ‘Stratosphere’), the Boeing phone will actually include apps that are handy for those in the aerospace industry (no, Angry Birds Space doesn’t count… I think).

Boeing is remaining tight lipped on the device at the moment and we should know more later this year. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.

The $ 99.99 LG Optimus V on Virgin Mobile is a budget-friendly smartphone that doesn’t tie you down with a two-year contract, and is far less expensive than the major carriers. LG renames Optimus LTE to Optimus True HD LTE, disses Samsung’s HD Super AMOLED
News from Engadget:

While the Optimus LTE’s already made its way to South Korea, Japan and the US (in the guise of the Spectrum and the Nitro HD), LG’s decided to give this dual-core handset a new name ahead of its Hong Kong launch at the end of this month. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Optimus True HD LTE. Alas, the “true HD” part here doesn’t actually mean the phone’s getting 1080p resolution on a 4.5-inch panel (which would be 490ppi; yet Toshiba’s actually done it!); but we were told that ’tis really just a dig at Samsung’s HD Super AMOLED technology — you know, the magic behind that 4.65-inch screen on the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S II HD LTE.

Simply put, LG doesn’t think that 1,280 x 720 on PenTile counts as HD due to the lower number of sub-pixels; and…………… continues on Engadget
