LG brings new LTE phone with smart pouch
News from The Mobile Indian:

Mobile phone manufacturer, LG has announced a new Android smartphone which will come with an innovative pouch. Named Spectrum, the smartphone is renamed version of LG’s Optimus LTE . It comes with a 4.5 inch AH-IPS LCD display of 720p resolution, a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and LTE connectivity.

While the phone itself is very attractive, LG also showcased one accessory for the phone which was interesting as well as unique, which is called Smart-pouch.

And as the name suggests, this is a pouch that protects the phone from scratches. There is a square hole in the centre of the pouch with chrome strip. And in this space, the phone displays a clock which makes it look like a pouch with a clock in built.

There are six different designs of the clock. Besides, the pouch also comes in different leather finishes. The pouch is available in light tan, pink, blue and black colours.

The phone automatically detects the pouch and will come up with the clock face based on the design of the pouch that you chose. It also displays various notifications thro…………… continues on The Mobile Indian

The LG X3, LG’s Second Quad-Core Phone…Will It Come To T-Mobile?

The LG X3, LG’s Second Quad-Core Phone…Will It Come To T-Mobile?
News from TmoNews:

Chalk this rumor up firmly in the “I have no idea if it will come true, but I absolutely hope it does” category as the boys from PocketNow have discovered what is believed to be LG’s second quad-core handset. Running a Tegra 3 chipset, 4.7″ 1280×720 display, the X3 is said to have a sub nine-millimeter profile. The rear camera is said to be the 8 megapixel variety with the front facing camera coming in at 1.3 megapixels. The X3 is expected to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for you right out of the box utilizing physical capacitive buttons and not touchscreen buttons ala the Galaxy Nexus.

So where is the T-Mobile link? Well, we agree with the boys from PocketNow and AndroidandMe and suspect this might be the next in T-Mobile’s “G” series. Remember the G-Infinity from the leaked roadmap discovered in the Summer of 2011? Yeah, we’re still waiting to see what that device that is and given the X3′s HSPA+ 21Mbps cabaility, it’s possible we’re looking at it, or the “G3x.”…………… continues on TmoNews

LG announces Resident Evil 4 for Android, keeps it in Korea

LG announces Resident Evil 4 for Android, keeps it in Korea
News from Android Community:

Survival horror fans, prepare to be excited… and then bitterly disappointed. LG (yup, LG, not developer Capcom) announced today that the excellent Resident Evil 4 is now available on Android. If you live in LG’s home territory of South Korea. And you have an LG phone with access to their proprietary U+ Market. And it uses an LTE radio. And you’ve got about five bucks you’re not particularly fond of. Android gamers, try to contain your joy.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen LG and Capcom buddy up for a major game release: the much-anticipated Street Fighter IV HD is also an LG exlusive, and looks to be so for some time. After promising a Q4 2011 release, LG and/or Capcom bumped the game back to 2012 to help promote the Street Fighter Global Championship 2012 Tournament. Owners of AT&T’s LG Nitro HD or the Optimus LTE international model can pick it up now in the LG Smart World app store. There’s no word on when Street Fighter will make it into the Android Market for non-LG devices.

LG Spectrum 4G LTE hits Verizon today for $199

Friday, January 20th, 2012

LG Spectrum 4G LTE hits Verizon today for $ 199
News from Android Community:

LG is back with another 4G LTE phone for Verizon Wireless with their new LG Spectrum. This phone is basically the follow up to the mildly successful LG Revolution but this time around it boasts some impressive specs that should help the phone make its way into buyers hands. With a bright and crisp 1280 x 720p 4.5″ display and LTE this phone deserves a second look.

The Spectrum is available today online and in stores at Verizon and can be had for only $ 199. I’m glad to see LG and Verizon offering an impressive 4G LTE smartphone for such a low price because this $ 249-$ 299 level we’ve been seeing seems a bit much if you ask me. This is one of the best price/performance phones available at the moment and the specs are by no means mid-range.

The LG Spectrum offers an HD 1280 x 720p 4.50-inch IPS display, a powerful 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, an 8 megapixel camera and Verizon 4G LTE. Pretty stacked smartphone with all the top end specs we’ve come to love. They’ve tossed in an 1,830 mAh battery that should last plenty long too. The phone is available right now at Verizon for $ 199 with a new 2-year contract. Hit the source link below to get started today.

Prada Phone by LG 3.0 arriving on T-Mobile UK next month

Prada Phone by LG 3.0 arriving on T-Mobile UK next month
News from Engadget:

Brits dripping in Prada won’t have to wait much longer to get their smartphone fix. The awkwardly-named Prada Phone by LG 3.0 is looking to set sail from its native Korea — where it’s already launched — and will be available on T-Mobile, half of the Everything Everywhere duo, some time in February. Sidling up to the UK carrier’s coming soon page, the salient selling points appear to be that Prada styling and LG’s 4.3-inch NOVA plus display. That subtle monochromatic skinning of the Gingerbread OS won’t hurt its chances either. No word on a precise launch date or price, but we expect to see a review model pretty soon — once we’re dressed well enough to be seen with it.

LG Optimus S (Republic Wireless) Beta: Full Review
News from LAPTOP Magazine:

An unlimited, contract-free smartphone plan for $ 19 a month? Sounds too good to be true, but that’s the promise from Republic Wireless, a new hybrid cellular/VoIP carrier from Bandwidth.com. You dish out $ 199 for an LG Optimus S Android phone upfront (the only model offered on the network right now), then sign up for its cheap monthly service. In return, Republic Wireless gives you an all-you-can-eat buffet of unlimited calls, texts and data. The catch? Republic Wireless assumes you’ll be connected to a Wi-Fi network for most of the day, only using a cell network as backup. The service is still in beta (and trial slots are currently full), but Republic Wireless will supposedly let folks in by mid-2012. When it does, should you sign up for this ultra-low rate? Read on.

Straight Talk To Launch LG Optimus 2X, First High-End Prepaid LTE Android Phone
News from PhoneNews.com:

Prepaid virtual operator Straight Talk has announced its first high-end Android smartphone in the LG Optimus 2X. The key differentiator between this version of the phone and the T-Mobile version in the G2X will be the inclusion of an LTE radio, which will make this the first high-end prepaid Android smartphone on Straight Talk and the first to function on AT&T’s nascent LTE network.

It also marks the first time that AT&T will allow prepaid access to its LTE network, as its own GoPhone lineup is limited to 3G devices and its smartphone lineup on GoPhone does not feature access to either unlimited 3G data or LTE access.

The LG Optimus 2X is underpinned by a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 at 1GHz, an 800×480 resolution touch display, front-facing 1.3 megapixel VGA camera and 8.0 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video capture along with a Wi-Fi N radio, Bluetooth, microSDHC slot with pre-installed 4GB card, 3.5mm jack and mini HDMI out.

This marks a potentially disruptive development for the prepaid brand, as it simultaneously competes against its Master Service Provider in AT&T in terms of services offered for the monthly rate, since the $ 45 monthly rate for…………… continues on PhoneNews.com

LG Spectrum review: Optimus LTE US version for Verizon

LG Spectrum review: Optimus LTE US version for Verizon
News from Northern Voices Online:

LG unveiled its latest smartphone Spectrum, the U.S. version of its Optimus LTE at the Consumer Electronics Show 2012. Though Spectrum is not exactly the Optimus, it features many darn similarities with the Korean version that hit stores last year. The Spectrum sports a 4.5-inch display with better design, advanced camera and other features. The demo model at CES was running Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. The LG smartphone, however, is upgradable to the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the most recent update to Android. Here we are getting through the entire specs and features of the LG Spectrum.

LG Spectrum tech specs
Form factor: The Spectrum measures at 135.4 x 68.8 x 10.4 mm. It makes the smartphone a bit tad heavier than the Optimus LTE in size. However, the Spectrum is easy to handle. The device weighs at 141.5 gram making it a moderately weighed smartphone.

Display: The new LG smartphone sports a large 4.5-inch HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 720 x 1280 pixels. It has an impressive ppi of 326, the same Apple iPhone 4S shows off. LG has perfected its display with the Corning Gorilla Glass protection and True HD Graphic Engine.

Processing: The phone is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core Scorpion processor with Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon chipset. There is Adreno 220 GPU and 1GB of RAM to add more into the strengt…………… continues on Northern Voices Online

News from San Jose Mercury News:

As I walked around the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week, I was struck by how the mobile phone is taking over as the hub of our physical lives.

Nowhere was that more obvious than at LG’s booth, where they were pushing home appliances, including refrigerators, washing machines and even a robot that lets you use a cellphone as a command and control center. It was also obvious at the Belkin and Schlage booths, where they showed products that let you use a cellphone to lock or unlock your front door from anywhere on the planet. Craftsman, meanwhile, showed a garage-door opener that sends you a message if you forget to close it. There are also companies that allow you to use a smartphone as a TV remote control.

Ford has multiple smartphone apps that work with its new line of cars, including ones to help you find recharging stations or see how many miles per gallon you’re getting on your hybrid. There also are apps to remotely lock or start your car.

This highlights how mobile devices are actually more useful than PCs.

LG TV crowned ‘best gadget’ at CES

LG TV crowned ‘best gadget’ at CES
News from Arab Times Kuwait English Daily:

LG TV crowned ‘best gadget’ at CES

LAS VEGAS, Jan 14, (Agencies): A razor-thin television from LG Electronics was crowned best gadget of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on Thursday and Microsoft was a big winner in its final appearance at the annual trade event.
The 55-inch (140-centimeter) TV set from the South Korean electronics giant is just 0.16 inches (four millimeters) thick and uses OLED, or organic light-emitting diode, display technology.
OLED TVs do not require backlighting and feature better color contrast than standard flat-screen LEDs and LG and another South Korean titan, Samsung, both wowed the crowds at CES in Las Vegas with 55-inch models.
A panel of experts from technology news site CNET awarded the LG 55EM9800 the title of “Best TV” at CES but also named it “Best of Show” among the thousands of new products on display at the four-day event.
CNET said it gave the nod to the LG TV over the Samsung model in part because it has an actual shipping date — the third quarter of the year.
When the super-set does finally hit the market it won’t be for just anyone — the 55-inch LG OLED TV is expected to cost several thousand dollars.
Microsoft, which has announced that this year’s CES will be its last, saw products powered by its Windows software scoop up a couple of…………… continues on Arab Times Kuwait English Daily
