LG Thrill 4G vs Samsung Galaxy S2? AT&T’s first 3D phone delayed
News from PopHerald.com:

AT&T wants to challenge the Galaxy S2 with a 3D LG phone?

New report has confirmed that AT&T is delaying the launch of the LG Thrill 4G.

Looks like LG fans need to wait for few more weeks because PC Magazine has confirmed that AT&T’s first 3D Android phone will not arrive online and in stores until August 21st. Apparently, the rescheduling of the Thrill 4G’s release was first heralded by a Radio Shack document leaked by Android Central claiming that instead of August 7th, 3D and Android fans must wait for at least 3 more weeks.

LG Thrill 4G is one of the most popular Android handsets this quarter, not only because it is AT&T’s first 3D Android handset, but also the phone’s surprisingly cheaper tag price of $ 99.99 only if bought with a 2 year AT&T contract. Under the hood, the LG Thrill 4G is powered by 1 GHz dual-core Texas Instruments-helmed OMAP4, which should allow LG to include the Netflix application out of the box.

HTC, Samsung, and LG to launch Mango devices in September; Nokia in October
News from Zunited:

It’s full steam ahead for Microsoft and Windows Phone 7.5. Fujitsu announced the first Mango device just a couple of days ago and now the rumor mill is churning, saying HTC, Samsung, and LG (the original three) will be launching their respective Mango devices this September.

According to a report from DigiTimes, “branded handset vendors including” (but not limited to?) “HTC, Samsung Electronics, and LG Electronics all plan to launch Microsoft’s Mango-based smartphones in September.” The report doesn’t fail to mention that the iPhone 5 is rumored to launch in September as well and these devices would be competing with the Apple device — though, it should be noted that was probably not any handset maker or Microsoft’s intention.

Nokia, meanwhile, will announce its line of Mango devices at Nokia World 2011 to take place in October. DigiTimes notes that this could be a good strategy as Mango bu…………… continues on Zunited

Apple’s 142% iPhone growth in Q2 outpaces mobile phone market by 12x
News from Apple Insider:

By Josh Ong

A massive iPhone shipment increase of 141.8 percent year over year gave Apple a growth rate more than 12 times that of the global mobile phone market in the second quarter, leaving the company poised to overtake LG as the No. 3 handset maker in the world.

IDC released the results of its quarterly Worldwide Mobile Phone Tracker on Thursday, noting that the worldwide mobile phone market grew 11.3 percent year over year. In fact, without taking Apple into account, the global market grew just 7.8 percent. The research group had forecast 13.3 percent growth for the quarter.

Apple’s record shipments of 20.3 million were enough to give it a 5.6 percent share of the market, up from 2.6 percent a year ago. The iPhone maker maintained the fourth-place spot that it achieved continues on Apple Insider

LG’s glasses-free 3D phone will be just $99

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

LG’s glasses-free 3D phone will be just $ 99
News from TG Daily:

The second smartphone to hit the market with true 3D display functionality will be 50% cheaper than the first.

Namely, the LG Thrill 4G – which is poised to be offered exclusively through AT&T – will carry a price tag of just $ 99.

That significantly undercuts Sprint’s HTC Evo 3D, which currently sells for $ 200. Both prices are effective for customers who sign up for a new two-year service agreement.

The Thrill 4G also promises something that Evo 3D owners have been sorely missing so far – 3D content. The Thrill will come with a selection of 3D games and movies, while the Evo has been on a marketing campaign to encourage users to create their own 3D content with the device’s built-in camera.

Because it’s coming out later, the Thrill is also the most up-to-date. Its technical specs include a 1 GHz dual-core OMAP4430 processor, 512 MB of dual channel RAM, and a 3D camera.

Where the biggest difference, though, is of course in the mobile networks. S…………… continues on TG Daily

LG Speaks Up, Official G2X Update “By Summer”
News from TmoNews:

Right on the heels of the LG G2X class action lawsuit, LG has finally pitched in with something to say. Unfortunately, their response isn’t really good news. Their statement, issued by an LG moderator at LG Forum, is that:

“The official word for the Gingerbread update on G2x is ‘by summer’ and all of the internal discussions thus far have it launching very close to that timeframe. When we receive any updated information we will update this sticky post with it.”

New 42 Mbps Smartphones Coming From HTC, Samsung and LG

New 42 Mbps Smartphones Coming From HTC, Samsung and LG
News from TmoNews:

There’s this very vague report going around about new 42 Mbps smartphones coming to T-Mobile in the second half of this year, made by HTC, LG and Samsung. I’m just going to come right out and say it, “Well, duh!” This should come as no surprise, it’s about as solid of a story as that great Samsung phone from yesterday (which is actually quite solid). With a network that supports 42 Mbps, T-Mobile would be a fool to NOT have phones that can utilize it. Given T-Mobile’s relationship with these manufacturers this will of course happen. Class Action Lawsuit FIled Against LG For G2x Troubles
News from TmoNews:

It isn’t an everyday thing that we write about a class action lawsuit because they are often common and sometimes ridiculously trivial. This time a class action lawsuit has begun against LG claiming that the company has failed to remedy various problems and defects in an appropriate time frame. Terry Horvath seeks to represent a class of T-Mobile G2x owners who are suffering from the same problems, defects and difficulties and believe that LG has failed to deliver on its promises to fix the problems in a timely fashion.

While I don’t know if a class action lawsuit has any merit a best case result might see LG spring to action and fix the situation like yesterday. The thing is, these users are completely right…………… continues on TmoNews
